The new Lowepro Fastback BP250 AW II is greatly improved over the original model. It is larger in size, made with better materials, uses higher quality zippers, and comes with additional compartments for a 15-inch laptop and tablet. Camera storage can easily hold a DSLR (cropped sensor) with lens attached with room for two more lenses. There are also smaller slots for accessories like battery and chargers and memory cards. The top compartment has great versatility with room for a cell phone, headphones, books and other travel items. Inside there is a zippered compartment to secure your passport, currency and other important documents. The zippers have been upgraded and their eyelets have enough clearance to support a TSA-approved lock. An all-weather cover is integrated into the bottom of the backpack. There is an attachment for a tripod and the backpack can be secured to your luggage. Fully-loaded the backpack feels well-balanced and the padding of the straps provide good comfort. There is also room for a water bottle or travel umbrella. Aside from the Lowepro brand name on the front, the Fastback BP 250 AW II looks like any other backpack.

Looks bigger than the space it actually has

I think the bag definitely is bigger than the space it actually has. There are two main compartments, with one slim computer compartment to slip in a 15" notebook. That one slim computer compartment, I think is slick. I like it. It's nicely tucked at the back of the bag so that it is protected by your back when you put on the bag. The other thing I like is it has weather protection sleeve you can wrap the bag in. When not in use, the sleeve is nicely tucked into a pocket at the bottom of the bag. Now for the two main compartments. The main top compartment, I use mainly to store cleaning tools, and accessories (e.g.: extra straps, charging accessories). To my surprise, that space fills up pretty fast. I guess the material used does not allow much expansion, in case you want to stuff the space and see how much it can hold. The bottom main compartment, is where the camera goes. Here, I see we can fit in one DSLR comfortably, 2 at most, maybe. If one DSLR is in place, there are space to comfortably fit one telephoto lens, and one prime, maybe two at most.

A trip to Africa with bag size and weight limitations had me consider a new combined camera/laptop bag. I did some research and found the Lowepro Fastpack 250 would offer the things I needed and at a good price. It has a nice space for a single DSLR and a couple lenses, power converters, cords, etc. The top compartment offers a deep chamber to carry wireless headphones and miscellaneous items. Back sleeve for the laptop and iPad. It's well designed overall but could be better. For example, the rain flap over the camera portion is basically useless beyond a rain flap. A zipper on the inside of the flap would be a great place to toss receipts or cables. I also found that the side access for the camera was handy but the zipper always seemed to be in the wrong spot... it was necessary to fidget with it all the time to get what I needed. The zipper didn't allow the flap covering the camera compartment to open far enough to keep the flap from falling back over. Also, failing to fully zip or not considering zipper placement could allow contents to spill out. I lost a couple small things that way. The bag size also didn't offer a lot of back support. It can hold a lot of gear. Fully loaded, my bad weighed nearly 25lbs-camera, laptop, battery backs, wireless headphones, etc. It doesn't sag under the weight but it relies on the shoulder straps to carry the load. I've had camping packs that did more to support the weight. Spend some time getting those shoulders and waist adjustments made before your trip. Overall, it's a good, roomy bag that can be super useful. It has some minor shortcomings-served me well enough but I've to admit, I might try to find something a little more finessed for the next go-round.

I have been carrying this bag every day for over a month. Comfortable to carry. Sturdy construction. Weather resistant with additional rain cover built in. I carry a Canon 80D with the battery grip and the 24-70 lens attached. It fits nicely in the side access section of the bag, allowing quick access to the camera. I also carry several lenses and other accessories which have plenty of room in the adjustable gear section of the bag. The most impressive part of the bag... and one of the most important features to me, is the separate, zippered compartment for a laptop and tablet. You can access those items without exposing the camera or gear. My only complaints are minor. The suspended tablet slot in the bag is too small to hold a 10" tablet if it has any type of case or sleeve on it. A tablet does fit in the laptop space with a laptop if the laptop isn't real thick. The tripod strap and the way it allows movement of the tripod when in transit, could be designed to hold the tripod tighter into the side of the bag. It works great for a monopod, but could be better for a tripod. Overall, the bag performs great and carries everything I need.

Because of my need to preserve visual evidence for work becoming the rule rather than the exception, I needed to have a means of transporting both my HD Camcorder with its attachments and my still photography cameras, both digital and analog, with their respective attachments and accessories. While I was aware of the Lowepro brand, it was not until a friend of mine (a serious photographer) informed me, that given the cost of my cameras, under no circumstances should I skimp on a transport system. He showed me his array of Lowepro bags and spoke so highly of the brand that I knew that I should seek out their products. Enter Best Buy and the helpful sales associate Ramon, who helped me pick this all weather backpack that is both roomy, and weatherproof. Its design features easy access compartments for your cameras, lenses, charging cords, spare SD cards, etc. . A special bonus is that it has a roomy internal pocket for a laptop. This means that I can go to a site with my tripod, lighting, spare mikes and my editing laptop.all in a well balanced backpack that distributes the weight evenly and fits over seasonal light outerwear. I'ven't tried putting it on over my winter parka, but, I've had no problem putting it on over my fleece zip ups that I favor in the fall and early winter. Putting it on over a rain poncho should be no problem either. Overall, Lowepro hit a home run with this backpack.

This camera bag is perfect for my Canon 5D camera. Along with camera there is enough space for the flash light and another lens. I find the ability to access camera from the side without opening the upper pockets to be very useful. Three is a pocket for water bottle. I would have liked outside strapping to carry a camera tripod.

I got this right before a trip hacking out west. It worked very well carrying 3 lenses and the camera, and had plenty of room to stash other important items freeing up my hands to assist in the hike. The camera pocket can be assembled to allow you to quickly unzip just the side and grab out the camera, which was nice.

This bag has plenty of room to carry a reasonable amount of gear. In my case, an APS-C DSLR, 18-200 zoom, 11-18 wide angle zoom, 85mm prime, plus 4 filters, battery charger, extra batteries, lens cleaner...and a still a bit of room to spare. This all fit at the bottom, leaving the top compartment for snacks etc. In fact, my MeFoto Backpacker tripod fit in the top compartment, leaving the outside pocket available for a water bottle. The only nit I have to pick is the shoulder straps material is a little rough. Other backpacks I own have a more comfortable strap, but it's not a deal killer.

Its pretty crazy how much I've been able to fit into this camera bag. My Canon 5D classic fits nicely with lens, 4 prime lenses, one huge 70-210mm lens, a flash, and several lens caps etc.. . and that's just in the lower compartment. I like that the upper two compartments are separate from the lenses and body. The quick access pocket is great. It holds my tripod tight while on trails. This pack is also extremely comfortable to wear for hours at a time when its fully loaded. Time will tell if it holds together, but so far everything feels solid and high quality.

I recently purchased both Nikon and Canon camera kits. The stock bags that came with these kits did not offer much equipment protection or security when in the field. The Fastpack 250 allows for rapid access to the camera with an attached lens when you're ready to shoot. Then it lets you easily put your equipment away to protect it from the elements. The pack is big and bulky, so my daughter got the Fastpack 150. Downside is that the main equipment area is not as configurable as I would like. This holds true for the 150 as well. Compact lenses are fine, but the top storage area needs to be used when packing a larger lens like the Sigma APO 70-200mm. The good news is that that case for the larger lens fits well in the top storage area. The laptop pocket is a great addition to this bag. I am spoiled being able to take everything in one kit. Well made, and overall, well thought out.

Allows for easy access to camera while on the go. Padded shoulder straps and back panel make it great for long days exploring or traveling. Convenient upper pocket allows for stowing extra cables or a jacket. Plenty of room for a full size DSLR plus 2-3 lenses. One stop shop for a bag that can carry everything needed for a trip (DSLR, lenses, cables, chargers, laptop, tablet, tripod, etc). The all weather cover is a great addition for when the whether unexpectedly changes!

I do a lot of run and gun shoots, and this bag fits the bill. There is plenty of room for my GH5, 3-4 lenses, a Ronin-S and my audio equipment. The material is lightweight and water-resistant. It's pretty new, so I wonder how durable it will be over the long haul. Biggest complaint is that the weight feels like it can be distributed too low, so my back tends to hurt after use. All in all a good value for money, though.

I've purchased at least 8 camera bags over the last 2 years trying to find the perfect one. A bag that is smartly designed, made of great material, and will hold a minimum of one camera, several lenses, a flash and any thing else I may want to take on a photo trip. This one exceeds my needs and expectations. I wish it had been the first bag I'd ever purchased.

Love the size, pockets for all my gear, and the larger pouch for personal stuff away from the lenses. Not a fan of the weight. Heavy even when empty (that's why I gave 4 starts), other than that pretty great.

This backpack is perfect for my Canon 80D with an attached Tamron Lens SP 70-200mm F/2.8 Lens; and I still have room my my Sony Alpha and 5 lenses and other accessories. It is well built and is not too big or small - It also has a convenient laptop holding area with enough padding for a chromebook, or a apple laptop. @@@@@@@@ nothing greater than a 15 inch notebook.

The Lowepro Fastpack BP250 AW II backpack is a surprisingly roomy backpack while remaining on the smaller side. It's easy to carry and holds my Nikon D750, 24-120 f/4 and 50 f/1.8 lenses, lens hoods, my SB-700, plus accessories. There is still room available for another small lens and more accessories, should I need it (for example, I have packed my Rode VideoMic pro inside to take along on a day trip). Need to carry longer lenses such as the 24-70 f/2.8 or 70-200 f/2.8 (or bigger)? Find something else. The side-load design of this pack is nice, but limits the size of items that can be packed inside. The biggest drawback is that my tripod won't work with the side-mounted tripod strap/pouch. The strap is too small to wrap around the tripod legs.

Backpack is very comfortable to use. The slot for laptop allows my 15" HP to fit, but know that if you lay the backpack down with the weight of the camera equipment on the laptop, you might damage the laptop. I put the camera with lens in the top compartment, although the backpack came with a section (Velcro panels) in the bottom part that appeared to be for a camera. My DSLR would not fit there. Also the space for lenses is not very large, but that is typical in this price range.
