This was a nightmare. Best Buy sent me a Lyft code that didn't work in the app! And customer service (both Best Buy and Lyft) was zero help and could not do anything! Avoid Lyft gift cards!

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY--WILL HOLD INDEFINITELY

I purchased a $93 Lyft gift card from Amazon, but they have suspended reviews for the product (most likely because they were getting so much negative feedback, which they considered "suspicious"), so I am leaving one here: I made this purchase foolishly without reading through the fine print that would've told me they could not be used on an account that is not in good standing, and I had purchased it for the express purpose of bringing my account back to good standing, thinking it could cover my $93 balanceee--not so. I was not allowed to even add it to my account. So, not wanting to waste the funds and not yet able to pay to cover that amount myself by other means, I gave the gift card to my best friend who created a Lyft account in order to use it, as she has to frequently use ride shares to commute while her car is out of commission. However, she has continued to use Uber instead, because while her account may be in good standing, she has not added any debit or credit cards in her name with enough money to cover her rides as required by Lyft (in case the gift card doesn't work or something? As if they couldn't just restrict its use to rides that cost less than the total balance and rest assured that no other charges would be necessary. She has added her paypal account, her credit card, and a couple of cards in my name that have a greater available balance since she is presently unemployed and does not have a payment method that fits their standards apparently. None of those are acceptable. She cannot request even a $10 ride with her $93 gift card balance for this reason. Unfortunately, we learned this the hard way when she got stranded, thinking she could depend on $93 worth of prepaid Lyft rides to get home, and I had to send her money at 1am to cover the $30 uber she took instead.
If you have kids or someone without a lot of resources to their name, who does not have a valid debit or credit card available with money to spend on it--someone who would benefit the most from receiving a gift card like this, don’t bother to waste your money on a Lyft gift card to get them from a to b, unless you want to come to their rescue when it fails to work for them. Basically, only people who can already afford to pay for the rides the gift card would cover are eligible to use them at all and they must prove this by uploading a card in their name with enough funds on it. Parents cannot simply allow their adult child to use their card (I think there may be something in place for teens to avoid this issue, but I may be wrong), and adding an active card or payment account that doesn't happen to have available funds at the moment is not going to cut it. You'll be throwing your money away. Stick with uber. They let you actually use the funds you paid to the company for their services rather than allowing you to add iet to your account, counting on the fact that you will have failed to thoroughly peruse the fine print beforehand, and then not allowing you to spend or transfer it. That is just free money for them in exchange for nothing at all but leaving you in a tough position when you go to pay for a ride that the gift card more than covers only to find out that you haven't met the criteria for using it and must first present another payment method to cover the ride first. Apparently, they feel entitled to accept your money and refuse to return it or to let you use it simply because they made a rule to that effect and they have no obligation to actually provide any goods or services in exchange for your money spent, in my case $93...

A Long Delay for a Digital Gift Card

When purchasing the Lyft digital gift card it stated the email will take 30 minutes with the information to redeem the credit. After one hour, I did a Target Chat, the person wrote it would take another hour. After 3 hours, I called and the customer service stated it would tak 24 to 48 hours. So, I cancelled the order and it will take 7 days to get my refund (a no win situation)
