WORTH. Huge upgrade from any MacBook before.

Coming from a 2013 MacBook Air 13 spec'd out with the 512GB flash storage, i7 CPU, and 8GB of RAM, this is still a huge upgrade! My old MacBook Air would throttle from opening up Any Adobe software, iMovie, Garageband, etc. It would also take over half an hour just for some 2-4 minute clips I want to render. I ended up watching paint dry :( With the new M1 MacBook Air, it is super quiet (literally because no fans), doesn't overheat, and doesn't feel "glitchy" when it is on full load. Getting the BASE model is enough for the majority of consumers, especially students. Battery life is ridiculously good. I was impressed by not having to charge it for 2 weeks with casual usage. This blows my mind. Those of you who are worried about the Intel --> M1 arm transition shouldn't be because I was able to use all of the programs I had on my previous MacBook Air. Not trying to sound like an Apple fanboy, but as I am typing this on the M1 MacBook Air, I wanted to say big kudos to Apple for implementing the M1 successfully. Overall, would definitely recommend this to ANY student, writer, artist, or someone who wants to get into the Apple atmosphere. This is the best option for the best performance to price ratio with a screen and insane battery life. One more thing, if you stationed at home all the time, I highly recommend getting the M1 Mac Mini.

The 2014 Mac Air VS the New Mac Air

I own two Mac Airs. One from 2014 and this one. I would like to compare the two because I feel there are some features on the older version that are more desirable. 1. The Battery The new Mac battery lasts forever and charges quickly with a USB-C port. I favor the older magnetic charger but that's a small thing. 2. Display The new display is very clear however, the screen extends to the very edge of the device similar to the iPhone. So if you drop this device you're screwed. I dropped my 2014 and it dented the edge of the screen but didn't break the glass because of the extra aluminum edge. I don't think the new Mac screen would survive this. 3. The web cam The 2014 is very dark for some reason. The new Mac seems to have fixed this issue with a nice and clear video. 4. USB ports The 2014 has 2 USB-A ports, a lighting connection port, phone jack and an SDXC card slot The new Mac only has two USB-C ports and a headphone jack! so you need a number of adapters to connect anything which is quite annoying especially since my wireless mouse uses an old USB-A. Apple only sells limited adapters so you need to buy PC adapters which I'm not crazy about. However I have a dual USB-A adapter from Dell that works great 5. The Chip The M1 chip is lighting fast. Even though my 2014 has an 1.4 Ghz dual core I5, it doesn't compare. 6. The famous logo It's another little thing but, I liked the illuminated apple logo on the back of the 2014. Maybe its no longer there to extend battery life? Idk but I thought it was a nice feature that separated apple from the rest.

NOTE: I have a Mac Pro (Trash Can) with an Xeon processor and 32 GB RAM that I always have on my main setup. My Macbook Air is the mobile computer that I love. I am an engineer in a well-known company and industry and let me tell you that this is a perfect machine for daily use. The 13-inch form factor with an all-day battery is impressive, plus I wanted this for my daily job with regular code practices to keep myself sharp. This has been one of my favorite pieces of tech that I carry around all the time in my house without thinking that it will have power and need a charge (taking my mental stress away). I also spent 15 days on a 14' M2 Pro Macbook with 32GB ram 512 SSD, and a 15' M2 Air with 16 GB ram 512 SSD for another 15 days, I still chose this machine (added both memory and storage information because I have had a taste of power before this). If you need a laptop with an awesome battery and portability, and have a little money (or cloud syncs) to keep your data accessible and even dare say light development (YMMV: maybe cloud IDEs will be better, but if you are practicing you need those) go for it! PC: MKBHD (too lazy to transfer them from phone)

Took me a minute to figure out some stuff because it functions a bit different than my iPhone and my iPad but once I figured it out it’s easy to use, compact and works great. Only thing it didn’t have was a USB port but I bought an adapter and problem solved. Now I have 4 ports. I got the gold one. It’s pretty and beautiful display.

My daily driver is a Mac Studio so I was looking for a travel work computer. My number one priority was light weight. This Macbook Air is so easy to tote around because it barely weighs anything. I can carry it in one hand. It is small enough that I can enjoy watching movies on a plane by placing this on the food tray in front of the seat. The screen is beautiful and bright, pefect for watching HD movies. It can easily handle Excel spreedsheets and Word docs. Just a great all around laptop. I chose this over the newer M2 MacBook Air because I love the classic wedge design.

I am still blown away by the performance of this computer. Since I am in college I have to use my computer a lot. It has been a rock so far. Over the past couple years all the windows laptops I had ended up frying and breaking after a single year of use. This laptop is working well and continues to blow me away and also moves at lightning speed.

It's been awhile since I've had a Mac, and I forgot how well-designed these products are. The Air works wonderfully and the light weight and small size makes it easy to grab and take with me on the move. For some reason it's hard to successfully select and move items around using the track pad (and I don't remember that being an issue on previous Macs I've owned, so this was a surprise) but using a mouse resolves that pain point. One thing about Apple I've never understood is why there isn't an easy-to-see-or-use cut option along with their copy option when you right click on a file or item. Sometimes they don't even offer the copy option when I right click on certain files. I get around that with keyboard shortcuts, but it seems like a simple, essential feature for menu options when you right-click on a file. Of course, I'm not a power user of Apple computers, so maybe I'm missing something. I especially appreciate the way they've designed the iCloud to span across devices and computers. It's so amazingly easy to move files between my MacBook and my iPhone. It makes a lot of tasks much easier. Overall, the positives far outweigh any negatives.

I recently bought the MacBook Air M1, base model. I am a programmer and I dedicate myself to making both mobile applications for Android and iOS, web applications and some game development with Unity. The use I give it is not exactly domestic. I have been able to have a node server running at the same time as Unity consuming information from the server, and it has no problems. I have also used Android and iOS emulators (which consume a lot) at the same time. The funny thing is that I bought it thinking of using it for a period of 6 months when the new MacBook Pro M2 Pro/Max comes out, and I think it will give up for the whole of 2023 without any problems. From what I'm having I don't think it's worth going to an M2 because the difference in power in the personal I don't think justifies the price. If you really need more power than the M1 can offer you with 16Gb of ram (I use 8 and it's impeccable), I highly recommend going for an M1 Pro. Greetings and I hope this can serve as a reference for other programmers who have doubts about the capabilities of this machine to work.

It’s Simple and does the job it’s supposed to do. I was a mostly a PC person, so getting used to the commands gets tricky, but I bought a shortcut sticker to help with that. I don’t perform a lot of tasks on it, other than wfh via a vpn. I have to use MS Teams messenger to communicate with team members, and screen sharing is clear. Using screenshare on my MacMini M1 isn’t clear. So odd. But there are no delays or lags and have no experienced any glitches. Sound is good. Watched a few streams and it’s crystal clear. I use it for hours so I have to charge it every so often after 6 hours or so. It’s light weight and easy to carry in my shoulder purse. I love that this will last me for quite sometime. I bought a case cover and a keyboard cover.

Upgraded from a 2017 Air. Screen is visibly sharper, the processing speed is faster. I use a second screen, often with streaming news feeds or YouTube videos open, while working on items open on the laptop's screen. Sound is good too. Incredibly lightweight for travel, and I never worry the battery will quit before I do.

I’ve had this laptop for 2 years now and it’s still working really well. It’s quick, it’s silent, it stills lasts around 7-8 hours when it’s on battery mode. It’s only heated up on me once but that’s because I had like 20 applications on, many tabs on as well, along with my coding application on the side. It’s perfect, honestly.

Got this in late 2022 via the Upgrade+ program. Definitely worth the investment as I needed something reliable. This MacBook still works like the first day I got it. Great display quality and sound, battery life is still excellent, it's fast, and I can count on one hand how many times I've encountered a glitch like a frozen screen. I used to run through cheap HP laptops every couple years just doing basic work online, and they would progressively get more slow and glitchy until almost unusable (despite constantly requiring manual updates). Battery life would also get lower and lower. The difference is night and day.

I have always wanted a MacBook, ever since I was a little kid. But, there was always something that stopped me from getting one. They always mentioned that the Air wasn't very good, from 2011 all the way up to 2019, reviews always mentioned the multiple flaws MacBook Air had; from the thermal throttling, to the super small SSD (128 at base price), over $1000, then the Butterfly Keyboard etc. The list went on and on, and I really thought that it wasn't worth the money. Until, WWDC 2020, Apple announced they would start making their own chips straight from home, I was so excited for this new generation, it reminded me of the time when they went from PowerPC to Intel. The excitement was there, and I loved the new unibody that started in 2016, with the removal of unnecessary ports for the average Joe. Everything was the same, but the new M1 chip. That is when I realized that this M1 MacBook Air was the one for me. I didn't hesitate and started saving until I had enough to buy it. And, I absolutely made the best decision in purchasing it. It is amazing, it's super slim. portable, super fast processing speed and power. The screen is beautiful, the bezels are unnoticeable. The keyboard is outstanding, To be completely honest, this laptop makes you want to be more productive, just because of its speed and its ease of use. If you're thinking about purchasing a Mac, this by far is one of the better choices (and the cheapest nonetheless) The charger is also outstanding! 30w is all you need for this little thing Recommendation: I would just like to say that you should consider upgrading the SSD size, at least to 512GB, 256GB is fine, but you won't feel the need to download and have only the essentials, 512GB is such a sweet spot and won't have to worry about deleting things in the future. RAM upgrade I wouldn't recommend, unless you are a serious power hungry user.

Takes a second to get use to because we had the the oldie from 1914. Love how light it is. Great product. Just wish we don't have to buy an attachment to link multiple things. So light to carry. We forgot it was in our shoulders when we were carrying it on the plane. Quick and fast...but anything would after the dinosaur we had and still have. These products hardly die.

This is my first MacBook and I absolutely love it! I have officially gone over to the Apple side. It is so easy to use and a beautiful design. The battery life last longer than any other laptop I have owned in the past. The screen is vivid and easy on the eyes. It talks to the other devices that I already own which is super cool. The keyboard is a dream to type on and I am enjoying having lighted keys. I thought I would need to buy a separate mouse but the trackpad is so user friendly. No need to spend the extra money. My favorite thing about this laptop is how light and portable it is. It will be perfect for when I go back to college in the near future. I plan to use this laptop for many years to come.
