Let me just say, that at the current sale price (which may or may not be still going on at the time you read this review), this laptop is an absolute steal! I've been a lifelong Windows user and never even looked at Apple computers, but recently, I've been looking for a new laptop and after trying a couple of highly rated Windows laptops, found them to be disappointing, especially their battery life and thermal and acoustic performance, since virtually all laptops in the higher performance tier are still too hot and loud, with mediocre battery life. So, out of frustration with the current PC laptop market, I decided to give an Apple laptop a try. I knew going in that they have great battery life, performance, and supposedly run cool and quiet. I picked up the MacBook Pro 14, and I was simply blown away! Yes, it runs fast. I do some video editing and graphic design, and it handles Photoshop and DaVinchi Resolve flawlessly. I also play some games, mostly strategy, and it runs them too! What I like the most, is how it doesn't lose any performance when running on battery, vs plugged in. Sure, playing a game like Cities Skylines will likely drain the battery in 2-3 hours, but it's amazing to actually be able to play it, with high resolution and graphics settings, on a laptop, with no cables attached! And it's smooth. The screen is beautiful. The mini LED is basically like having an OLED colors and contrast, but 3-4X higher brightness. It looks stunning. The computer is virtually silent. The fans stay off 95% of the time (with my use), and even when playing a demanding game, I only know they're running by checking the system monitoring software. I can't hear them unless I put my ear right next to the keyboard. It's seriously impressive. Yes, at 100%, they can get somewhat loud, but I can only get them to run at 100% by forcing it in software, I don't know what you have to do on this laptop use to get them to run this fast. And the laptop can get a little warm at the top of the keyboard, but not uncomfortably hot like most gaming Windows laptops. It's really, barely warm, and again, only when pushing it a bit, in most day-to-day tasks, it stays at the room temperature. I can probably keep going with details for a while, there is so much to like about this machine, but I want to respect everyone's time, so let me just add a couple of quick points. The speakers are great. The web camera is better than most, it's very good, the design is clean and pleasant, the ports are good, and the fingerprint scanner works the first time, every time... it's an excellent laptop. I want to also mention a couple of negatives. Nothing too bad, and I still live the laptop overall, but nothing is perfect. The first thing that I'm not 100% happy with, is MacOS. I can get all the software I need, and it runs great, but Apple is still a bit too tyrannical with their software, requiring a bunch of passwords, and limiting your customization options. It can also be a bit glitchy, sometimes virtual buttons get stuck, or the OS can feel slower than this laptop actually is with its animations, or just in general the way it handles RAM. Same apps can sometimes launch in half a second, and at other times take 6-7 seconds to load, it can feel inconsistent. You can run Windows on it, with Parallels Desktop, or one of several free VM options, which I thought would make it perfect, but keep in mind that you can only use an ARM version of Windows, so not everything works on it too. Still, very impressive seeing Windows 11 running on it just as good if not better than many Windows laptops, even in the Virtual Machine. The next thing, that's just kind of meh, is keyboard. It's not bad, the keys feel nice, but its backlight might look uneven under certain angles, which cheapens the look of the machine a bit, IMO. It looks fine from above, though. I usually keep the backlight off for this reason. Not a bad keyboard, but there is also nothing "magic" about it. I've seen better, and I've seen worse. And finally, the build quality can be a hit or miss. The first unit that I got had a slightly misaligned lid (against the bottom half, when closed). I exchanged it, and the second unit was creaking around the keyboard when opening and closing the lid. I returned it too and almost gave up on them, but a few days later, decided to give it just one more shot with a different color (the first two were Space Grey). I picked up a Silver model, and this one is perfect. So if you get one and something doesn't feel right, you might want to check another unit to make sure you get the good one, or just don't be picky like me. I assume most people will never notice or questions things like that. One final thought. This Macbook Pro 14, even at the base level, is a real deal. It's worth every penny they ask for it, and if you can get it on sale, or a good open box unit, it's probably the best value out there at the moment!

I purchased this computer August 2022 to replace my Intel MacBook Pro 13 inch from 2019. Now, I know Apple Silicon was fantastic, but it blew me away. I was nervous after dropping the dough and putting the two side by side, I mean, I hadn't even had my 2019 for three years, it's not like it's fallen apart and crashing daily. The M1 Pro exceeded any and all expectations I had. When I purchased this laptop last summer, I had spent two years working in a Visual Communications technical program using the Adobe Creative Cloud, an it did *fine*. I was content, if not a little annoyed by the lack of storage and dedicated graphics. But now, almost a year later, this 14 inch MacBook Pro flies through everything new I throw at it. Video editing is no sweat, live audio mixing and monitoring doesn't even begin to touch the battery life. Running games (either Mac compatible or through Wine-based apps) is easier done than said now. I didn't upgrade the storage again, I should have known better than to go for a base model again, but the addition of the HDMI port, an extra Thunderbolt 3, and an SD card slot mean I have more I/O for storage and displays than I did on my last MacBook, which only had two Thunderbolt 3 ports and a headphone jack. Did I mention the battery life? Oh, yeah. It lasts forever. It shocks me when the battery dies, and usually it dies because I either worked all day on it and squeezed every last drop out of it, or I left it on for days before it decided it was nap time. Basic browsing or word processing in class, I'd see maybe 6% drop every hour, sometimes even less. I could start a class with less than 10% and two hours later I'd still have a few minutes to find an outlet. Oh and this screen is gorgeous. I had some dirt or some debris on my palmrest and totally destroyed the laminate on accident, so eventually I will have to have this repaired, but even with my ignorance, the ProMotion display is to die for! It's bright, it's responsive, and oh-so-smooth. Sometimes I miss the butterfly keyboard and the Touch Bar, but I am a minority in this feeling. I have not had any issues with either keyboard, but I do know that the traditional scissor style Magic Keyboard on the new MacBooks was a welcome change for many. And before anyone whines about the notch, it's fine. It's out of the way, and you can always adjust the screen dimensions in the software to get rid of it. I personally like it, because my Menu Bar does not intrude on my app space. Being a nerd, I use Android and iOS. When I bought this Mac, I had an iPhone 13 Pro Max and an iPhone SE temporarily and they worked great out of the box. The cohesion that is Apple's operating systems is fantastic. I then moved to the Galaxy S22 and then Galaxy S23 Ultra and was surprised how well they can be taught to like each other, if they seem a little repelled at first. I do miss being able to use Boot Camp in order to boot Windows, but emulation works OK and I still have my old MacBook with the Intel chip with Windows on it. I also am wary of Apple's anti-competitive repair and modification stances that are growing in their device lineups, but despite this, I can't name any other laptop in the world that could replace this one. Other PC and chip manufacturers are still trying to catch up to the performance AND efficiency that is the goal of M1,. If you want a Mac, this is a good Mac. If you're a creative, get this Mac. If you need power on the go and won't miss Windows (unless you are accustomed to emulation), get this Mac.

I’ve been using the MacBook Pro for >3 years and I couldn’t be happier with it. The performance is outstanding, handling everything from multitasking to demanding applications like video editing and coding without breaking a sweat. I even use it to train light Deep Learning models. The display is stunning with its Liquid Retina XDR screen—colors are vivid, and the brightness makes it perfect for working even in well-lit environments. Battery life is another highlight, easily lasting me through an entire day of work and entertainment. The redesigned keyboard feels great to type on, and having the full set of ports back (like HDMI and SD card slots) is a huge plus for convenience. Overall, this MacBook Pro is a powerhouse with no compromise on portability or performance. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable laptop for professional or personal use. It’s an investment, but one that truly pays off.

My macbook pro exceeded my expectations. I upgraded and I am so happy I did. The processor is super quick, and I barely hear the fans, I would never know they were there. The light-up keyboard is also a super neat feature, and the battery life lasts all day! I never have to worry about charging it throughout the day. This computer finishes things within seconds that my previous computer took hours to complete.

Purchased to replace my 2018 MBP. Excellent battery life, great performance, beautiful screen, deep and rich sound. Feels very solid and the extra thickness is nice. Small form factor much like the 13" MBP which I have for work, but more screen real estate. With the hard case from Amazon completes the look, too. Laptop stack in review contains 15" MBP 2018, 14" (this one being reviewed), and 13" MBP M1.

After weeks of researching and comparing macbook and going back and forth about what is the best laptop to buy I decided to get this Macbook M1 Pro 14". I bought first the Macbook M2 Pro 13" just because it's new chip and the touchbar but after days of using it I found out that 14" is much level up in many ways eventho its M1. I guess for now this is the highest tier of Macbook after to the 16". I appreciate the display so crystal clear the pixel I even want to look at the screen all the time, the speaker sound is so amazing and I love all the feature now that the iOS has been updated from "Monterey to "Ventura". I don't do video and picture editing but I know this macbook can handle heavy workloads. For just simple surfing and opening multiple apps from the time I bought this I haven't heard the fan of this macbook kick in. I cannot think of any cons for this macbook and for me it's all pros. For the price I paid, It's well worth the money. I like the touchpad and the keyboard and ofcourse the ports. The battery oh boy it's like the battery of Iphone 11 it doesnt drain that fast. It's like you have big iphone. I know this sounds redundant but if you have iphone, iwatch and macbook, its like all your apple product is talking to each other.

I definitely recommend this laptop for those who are able to get it. It should last many years before it starts begging to be put to rest. And please dont say this is for pros only, having a good computer shouldnt be gatekeeped from anyone able to get one, and getting one is better for longevity and resale value.

I was a Microsoft Surface Book 2 (15 inch) user that needed a new laptop and tried the Surface Laptop Studio as an upgrade. I had a ton of issues with that laptop and had to return it even if I liked the 2 in 1 functionalities of the laptop. Since I had to return the laptop and already was using mostly Apple Products (Apple Watch, iPhone, and iPad) I decided to bite the bullet and fully invest into the Apple Ecosystem by buying this laptop. I don't regret it. For starters, while the Surface Laptop Studio had a beautiful display, this MacBook still manages to beat it in colors. Plus MacOS takes better advantage of the 120hz display than Windows does with system animations so it is more noticeable that the screen is more nimble than the standard 60hz displays. The colors are extremely accurate and the mini LEDs in this display make it so you have near OLED levels of true blacks when displaying dark/contrasty images. The only gripe I have with the display is I still am not the biggest fan of the notch but it is something that you get used to pretty quickly. The performance of this laptop is another thing that is a sight to behold. While Apple silicon is still having some hiccups it does really work way more efficiently than the outgoing Intel processors. The processor in this MacBook stays impressively cool and doesn't get no where near as hot as the previous laptops I have had along with the fans seemingly never really having to kick in. Along with that, for the first time I have a laptop that doesn't have to throttle its processing power to make sure that the battery can last a decent amount. This makes it so I don't have to carry a laptop charger with me at all times even if I am doing something more intense than a word document or web browsing. Other notable things about this laptop is the impressive quality of sound and even bass coming from the built in speakers. The build quality is phenomenal especially when you compare it to the Surface Laptop Studio that I had before this (that laptop had a squeaky hinge and some flex to the laptop which was unsettling). The keyboard on this laptop is one of the best and on the same level as Microsoft's Surface line, but the track pad on this MacBook is something that still has to be beat. I do wish this had something of 2 in 1 capabilities and even just a touch screen because sometimes its just easier to touch it on the screen instead of moving the cursor around to get it where you want. Otherwise this is an impressive laptop that is great if you are productivity focused. It can run some games extremely well but due to not being compatible with the vast majority of PC games, gaming is one of the things that makes up this laptop's archille's heal.

If its good for coding and video editiing, then its good for everything else. I bought this at $1599 when it was on sale, and i have to say--- that was a good deal. I upgraded from a Macbook Air M1, and the fan actually makes a difference. PROS from the Macbook PRO: > Faster loading of apps into memory > Faster video exporting > The keyboard is all black-- thats cool > Can run various services at the same time and CPU can handle anything you throw at it. > Apple software + apple hardware (M1 Pro CPU) == optimization. > HDMI and SD card slot. > USB C on the right side. > Screen Size is just right at 14', which is good for on the go vs 16' macbook in the backpack. > Color reproduction/accuracy on the display is phenomenal

What else is there to say, it's fast. It's really really fast for what you need it for. It multi-tasks really well. It's definitely more powerful than an Macbook Air M1 (which is already fast) but this allows you to do more especially if you use it for work that requires a bit more processing. This laptop build is superb. Granted that I prefer the older style with thinner edged style but I understand the need to make this slightly thicker. If you're already in the Apple ecosystem, you don't need convincing to buy it - it's just a question of what version to buy. But if you're a brand new user, oh boy, you're in for a treat. You can get a cheaper Macbook Air M2 or simply go for this one (which I got at a humongous discount). Seriously, I wasn't planning on buying a new laptop but the discount changed those plans. But discounted or not, these laptops are the reason why Macs truly dominate the creative marketplace. Not yet on gaming but hopefully one day it would.

Ok after coming from the 2020 intel MacBook Pro this upgrade has been a beasttttttt. I didn’t expect to be upgrading my MacBook after only 2 years but intel MacBooks should be an abolishment. This computer holds a battery like no other and the ports are back on this one which I missed from my 2012 MacBook. Only thing I wish it got back was a usb a port. You still have to use a doggie for that but it’s ok.

I've owned a few MacBooks in my time and this is by far the best out all of them. The CNC'd Aluminum chassis is a true return to form from an older generation of MacBook, but with (almost) all the features of modern mobile workstation. Battery life is better than what you could hope to ask for in a computer and the screen is probably the most aesthetically pleasing part of the entire machine, if you had to pick only one feature to doat upon. The unboxing experience is a cut above the rest and just brings excitement to the individual. A definite 20 out of 10!

I’ve had this MacBook Pro 14” for little over a year. I use this for work and when I was completing my masters program. The battery life is great, with constant 8 hour use I would only need it charged once a day (even until now). I never had any issues with it nor did I need any technical support. It runs great and this is by far my favorite model. I had 2 other MacBook Pros and I had the 13” Touch Bar prior to this. The 14” feels the best size coming from the 13” MacBook Pro. Very satisfied.

Coming from a 2015 13” MBP (which in my opinion was the last good laptop Apple’s released before this one), switching to this 14” was like taking a dip in the fountain of youth. Everything from the design to performance to battery life was night and day. As a college student, I use my laptop almost non-stop for assignments, media consumption, and some light creative work here and there. I used to have to charge my old machine halfway through the day, and now it’s more like every other night. The M1 Pro chip (even the slightly binned 14-core version) is leagues ahead of any MacBook before it, and even some models of Mac Pro. Needless to say, I couldn’t be happier with the other notable upgrades; the new design, mini-LED display, and extra ports are all incredibly useful and nice to have. I managed to snag this at a $400 discount and won’t be looking back; if you’re considering it, it’s more than worth it for this price! There’s not much difference performance-wise you’d be seeing between this and the 16-core version, so unless you’d really like to have the extra storage and could benefit from the slight boost in power, I wouldn’t worry about the other models. Typically discounts like these means there might be a new lineup on the horizon, but rest assured nothing design-wise would be changing, most likely just internals. Generally, if you’re coming from any Intel MacBook, you’re in for a real treat with Apple silicon!

I bought my 14" MacBook Pro back in January and have been so happy with it. My 1st MBP was a 2012 and I love that one so much. I wish I still had it! I loved being able to customize it the way I wanted it before Apple locked them up tight. I then went on to both a 2017 and later a 2020 MBP and I hated them both! The 2017 keyboard was the worst nightmare and gave me nothing but problems. Nobody should have to buy another MacBook in three years but I did because it was that bad. The 2020 keyboard was much better, but not the MacBook itself. I was constantly having problems with storage, with non-stop messages saying I ejected my hard drive when I didn't, with getting my hard drive to connect to begin with, and with constant shut off problems and freezing. I was ready to give up on Apple… decided to give them one more chance, and I am so happy I did. I had heard so many good things about both the 14 & 16"... I didn't need the 16 inch since I have a separate monitor when I need it and I travel a bit so the 14" made more sense. The screen is amazing, the keyboard is 1 million times better, I haven't had any storage problems and best of all, after updating to Ventura... Not only do I not get any more messages about my hard drive ejecting, but it ejects so much faster !! Are used to have to sit there and wait at least three minutes and sometimes I would still get the dreaded message… not anymore. I can honestly recommend this to anybody, and be pretty sure that nobody will regret their purchase!

I bought my first MacBook in 2010 & it lasted seven years before I had to replace it. Since then, I have bought two other MacBooks, both of which I wound up returning shortly after buying due to being totally underwhelmed by them. I couldn't justify spending the money when the value wasn't there. That is not the case with this MacBook! It is worth every penny, possibly even more? After watching many tech YouTuber reviews of this model, I decided to give Apple one last shot for my laptop needs & am so glad I did. I've only had to charge it once in the six weeks I've owned it. The performance is phenomenal! The build is sleek, beautiful, sturdy. I am genuinely so stoked on this thing, I'm obsessed!
