The MacBook Pro 16” with the M1 Max chip is an absolute beast when it comes to performance. It handles everything I throw at it—from intensive video editing to running multiple demanding applications—without breaking a sweat. The 32GB of memory and 1TB SSD ensure smooth multitasking and lightning-fast storage access.
The display is stunning, with vibrant colors and incredible brightness. The ProMotion technology makes everything feel buttery smooth, and the speakers are some of the best I’ve heard on a laptop. Battery life is also impressive, lasting me through long work sessions without needing a charge.
However, the reason for four stars instead of five is the price. While you get top-tier performance, the premium cost might not be justified for everyone unless you need this level of power. Also, it’s a bit heavier than I expected, which can make it less ideal for frequent travel.
Overall, if you need a machine for professional-level tasks and can justify the investment, the MacBook Pro 16” is a fantastic choice. Just be prepared to pay for the performance.

This MacBook is amazingly fast. Editing multiple 4K timeline projects is a breeze in DaVinci Resolve. I came from a 13” M1 MBP and this screen real estate & XDR display hands down gave me a better experience. It’s nice not having to be next to an outlet while completing projects. The battery performs amazingly well while editing and crazy when just utilizing it for normal use. Only gripe I have was how poorly Bestbuy packaged this. There was one 8 part air pack in a box way to large. There were indication of it being dropped which am lucky Apple does a great job boxing it’s products.

i use this computer for everything! i am a graphic designer and when i tell you this computer has horse power it really does. i can use all Adobe programs, including 3D programs such as Blender & Rhino. i’ve been using this computer for the past 6 months, and as a design students it’s been working through programs like Adobe Aftereffects like nothing. I haven’t even heard the fans kick in once. Highly recommend this for any designers out there, as i have enough RAM to keep programs from closing and so much storage to last a long long time, especially since i offload into an external hard drive. this is my experience coming from using a Macbook Air 2017 model.

This is amazing. I bought it to run Ableton Live mostly since I was having issues with projects on my maxed out 2013 iMac which had a 3.5GHz Quad Core i7 and GTX780M with Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut TIM and Gelid Extreme pad for vram, 32gb of Mushkin BlackLine ram, OWC 1TB Aura Pro X2 and 1TB Mercury Electra 6G. It also runs DaVinci Resolve super quick. My old iMac had issues with all of my usb midi controllers which this does not. A good thunderbolt dock and usb hub, two external thunderbolt drives and 4k monitor. I can run a video editor, DAW and record video simultaneously on the same machine. 32gb is still good for me now. My largest projects open with other apps I still have a few gbs available. Usually tops out around 28gbs.

Best Laptop I’ve Ever Owned – Worth Every Dollar

I bought my MacBook Pro M1 Pro (32GB RAM, 1TB SSD) almost 2 years ago for $2,999, and honestly, it’s the best investment I’ve ever made in a laptop. The build quality and performance are outstanding.
The display is stunning with its super clean resolution and large screen, making coding and long hours of work easy on the eyes. The sound system is surprisingly powerful and crisp — easily the best I’ve experienced in a laptop. It’s also much lighter compared to bulky gaming PCs, while still packing incredible power (although it’s not designed as a gaming machine).
Even after 2 years, it runs like new — smooth, fast, and reliable. For anyone looking for a professional-grade laptop, especially for coding or creative work, this is hands down one of the best products you can buy.

Cool to touch! A big departure from Intel i9 MBP. Heavy data crunching was a breeze, I have way too many things open including VS Code and PyCharm, text files, large XML and JSON files. Not to mention the browser tabs. Lightroom as well. Yes, all of these open at the same time. I plug it in and use a widescreen external monitor and this MBP doesn't break a sweat! Very pleased and BestBuy prices w/ AppleCare+ that comes with TotalTech is hard to beat!

Excellent product! This Mac has excellent memory capacity both ram and graphics. Not to mention the long battery life, so it was the perfect match for me, since as a product designer, I have to manage various programs and software, and at the same time I have to spend hours working remotely and nomadically. so i really recommend this product.

.NET Engineer who uses this as my main machine

I am a software engineer who uses this as my daily machine now. Our shop is mostly .NET so I run Windows 11 ARM and do all of my work in Visual Studio. I have run into very Few compatibility issues (other than having to run a really old version of SQL Express).
Aside from that being able to use my air pods for meetings, answering calls and texts directly from my Mac has been fantastic. It’s super fast even with a VM chewing up resources. I don’t recall my fan ever coming on either. I also have an M2 MacBook Air and will say that’s a great machine as well.

Love this laptop. Powerful and large for design work. The M1 chip never lags no matter how big my files are. I got the 32gb hoping it would be enough and it is. The 1TB is okay I wish I was able to get the 2TB but I have a portable harddrive that helps.

One bad machine in a good way. So happy I decided to buy this laptop. Battery life is no joke, I run Abobe products all open with tons of processing and it just crushes it. This has replaced my desktop so it needs to be powerful. Happy I went with the 16” bigger screen too. I had no issues with sliding it into my computer page to travel with. I purchased an external monitor that powers the laptop with a usbc cable which means on less cord on my desk.

Waited for long time for it. Waited for the mini-led, waited for the high-performance ARM chip especially for graphics. And all of these came true this year. Though didn't expect the unwanted notch.
The performance is really good! No more media optimization is needed to smoothly playback the 4k video or even 8K video during editing in Davinci Resolve or FCPX. Also tested on playing dota2, amazingly, with the highest picture quality, it steadily run on 60FPS and the fans are barely running!!
As for appearance! Tool should be the tool!
I do like the screen, and no word is needed here for the amazing XDR screen!
Pro:
- Very high performance that could compare with rtx 3080 while maintaining a very low power consumption.
- Good battery life speaking to the given performance.
- Very good screen with mini-led tech.
- Very good sound quality.
- Good webcam quality, but give a notch.
Cons:
- The apperance just got a little bit ugly than previous gen, but it's definitely ok
- The notch!! (Would be hidden during full screen mode)
- The M1 Max would be threshold after a while heavy duty. And overall M1 Max is only 40~60% more performance than M1 Pro, which is a little bit less than expected.
- HDMI is only 2.0
Overall, if with budget, m1 pro 16 ram is highly recommended, but if you have the extra budget, go for m1 max, and you won't regret it.

I upgraded from a 2017 MBP and purchased The MBP M1 Max. I am very happy with the computer, it runs so much faster than my old i7Core chip MBP. I wanted to save a few dollars so I bought an open box product. It looks like it's new and was listed as in excellent condition which it is. Best Buy usually has the best price when I dig deep to find what I want.

I had the first Retina display MacBook Pro since 2012, which had been a phenomenal laptop. I was debating the past couple years to upgrade and almost pulled the trigger on the prior 16” from last year. I sure am glad I waited! This new 16” with the M1 Max is unbelievable! It chews through anything and everything I throw at it, and the battery life is fantastic, especially considering the power this thing has. They are pricey, no doubt, and the notch is controversial, but if it’s in your price range you definitely will not be disappointed!
