Customers are saying

Customers regard the MacBook Pro 16" as a high-performance laptop with excellent battery life and a stunning screen. Many appreciate its ease of use and sleek design, along with the inclusion of useful ports and ample RAM. However, some find the weight to be a significant drawback, and the price point is considered high by some users. While opinions on the Touch Bar's absence are divided, most appreciate the improved cooling system resulting in less fan noise and heat.

I recently upgraded to the MacBook Pro 16-inch with the M1 Pro chip, 1TB SSD, and 16GB RAM, and I’m thrilled with it. Even though this model is a bit older, it remains a standout performer and continues to impress. The M1 Pro chip delivers incredible speed and efficiency, making everything from heavy software to multitasking run smoothly. With 16GB of RAM, it handles multiple apps effortlessly without slowing down. The 1TB SSD provides ample storage and lightning-fast load times. The 16-inch Retina display is incredibly clear and vivid, enhancing everything from work tasks to entertainment. The battery life is impressive, lasting a long time on a single charge—ideal for extended work sessions or travel. The laptop feels solid and well-built, and while it’s a bit heavy, it adds to the sense of durability. Overall, I absolutely love this MacBook Pro. Despite being a slightly older model, it’s still superior in performance and design. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a high-quality, reliable laptop!

This is easily the best MacBook I've owned in years, and I've been using MacOs since 2014 when I was in college. The return of MagSafe and all these ports brought back such great memories of the MacBook Air that I used for so many years from that time even up until 2020 or so, although I had to buy a newer alone, long story short. And even better is that the Magsafe mechanism here is at least 3x sturdier than ever before, so you dont have to worry too much about accidentally yanking the cord or the Magsafe connector yellowing over time like the old ones often did. Anyway, this beauty can handle so much of what you can throw at it without skipping a beat, with none of the fan noise or massive heat that came along with the old Intel models. I even have at least 10 tabs open in Chrome and haven't experienced any slowdowns either, and often even more than that depending on how much I have to get done. I know with my very old MBA I had to sell, that thing would fry like an egg easily without having to download a bunch of programs to control the fan speed and what not. You don't have to worry about any of that with this monster of a machine. The silver aluminum finish really makes it truly feel like you're using a pro device. I especially love that the rubber feet are so sturdy and firmly keep the Macbook from sliding around all the time compared to the smaller Macbook 13" models. No more having to use a bunch of dongles to try to connect such things as drawing tablets directly into the computer. Even with the Rosetta 2 layer in place, I never noticed any problems running all the programs that previously worked with Intel either. Before I got this MacBook in the mail, I tried going back to the previous Intel MacBook Pro and the 10th gen Intel CPU was already really showing its age, even updating the OS to Monterrey. I was reminded of just how much I had to do just to keep that computer at a decent temperature, including turning off Turbo Boost and a whole bunch of other nonsense you don't have to even think about using this latest Macbook Pro. Less time wasted. Let's not forget about the beautiful Liquid Retina XDR display that this comes with. That, the extra real estate you get from having a big 16" screen, and all these ports alone make having this powerhouse worth it if you can. Save yourself some money and go with this base model for the best bang for your buck. You're getting so much at a price just $800 more than how the Macbook Pro 13" from 2020 with 4 Thunderbolt ports was priced. It's definitely worth the upgrade and for anyone else who needs a huge screen and a sort of desktop like experience but on a mobile device, this MacBook is definitely for you! It's worth every penny. Oh yeah, the battery life is also crazy good and even with doing a whole bunch of things to get the computer set up, I was still at 76% battery and it was 88% right out of the box.

So far, this is absolutely, without a doubt, the fastest, clearest, smoothest MacBook Pro I have EVER owned. I was doing my researching and trying to decide whether I should get the M2 Pro MacBook Pro 16 or this one, and with the price drop of $500, there was no question about it. For those who are wondering about which one they should get, I would say just get this previous generation. You get a 10core processor (8Performance and 2 Effeciency cores) that boasts up to 21 hours (22 hours on the M2 pro) battery life. That's another thing. The battery life on this is absolutely insane! I am not a photographer, video editor, or anything of that sort, but I will be using this MacBook as my daily driver. Even though this may seem overkill, I will say, it is still well worth the money. Coming from using an m1 MacBook Pro 13 inch and Alienware x17 r1, I've noticed how much easier it is to do everything productivity wise on the 17 inch gaming laptop, simply because of the screen real estate. I wanted to see for myself if the 16 inch would be too big, but there's an easy way to think of it. Imagine a full 16 inch screen in a 15" windows laptop body. It is still slim and small enough to EASILY fit into my backpack. BELIEVE me. The extra screen space, palm rest, and trackpad are all a plus. And 16gb is just way more than enough for simple tasks. I never see myself doing memory swap even with chrome tabs open, league of legends, and a YouTube video running in the background. For most casual users like me, this MacBook will run flawlessly!

For work I have a 2019 15" MBP with 32 gb ram. The fan is always going on even for something as simple as a zoom call. This computer crushes it. It's just amazing. Screen is crisp and vivid. Sound is amazing and everything just works. Keyboard is perfect. I bought a Geek Squad Certified Open Box and got a great deal for it. Highly recommended. Bought about 3 months before M2 came out, but for my uses, I'll never be slowed down by the M1. Battery life is also great. Will have for a long time.

I purchased an M1 MacBook Pro 13 in 2021, just a few short months before this beast of a computer came out. I was mad at myself for not waiting a few more months. Now that this MacBook is a year and a half old and on clearance, I decided to take a loan from my retirement savings and get a well-deserved upgrade. Immediately after purchasing I knew it was worth it. The battery life is insane, the screen is bright and super smooth, the speakers replace any need for a dedicated Bluetooth speaker, and the performance is out of this world for nearly everything most people will do with it. On top of that, I am no longer running out of RAM from being limited to 8GB, I'm to longer having to manage my storage the way I had to with the older MacBook with 256GB, and I feel like the value of this laptop will continue to hold steady, and that this machine will be more than capable for my needs over the next 5-7 years, something that I couldn't say for the last MacBook thanks to its paltry RAM and storage, as well as the smaller screen that wasn't as bright, smooth, or fluid and was much smaller, causing me to either have more eye strain or reduce the amount of content I could have on my display. Right now is the perfect time to buy this MacBook because once they are gone, only the current M2 devices at their higher price point of $2500+ will be available, and the performance difference is not enough to justify the higher cost.

Mac has a nice size scree, 16 inch. Color is excellent. The hues are sharp and crisp. Battery lasts longer than expected. Has a sleek look. Easy to carry. Processor is fast. Weight is light for a computer that has everything. Negative: Hard to move pointer. Need manual to look up different items on the desk top.

I finally decided to upgrade my MacBook since I do graphic design for both work and freelance. My previous MacBook was a late 2013 MBP model that I got in summer 2014 during my degree program at Full Sail. So it was finally time for an upgrade. It's lightning fast. Haven't had any trouble running my Adobe programs. The screen is beautiful and big. It's slightly just a tab bit heavier than my older MBP, but nothing too crazy of a difference. I thought the notch was going to bug the heck out of me, but thankfully no. Webcam is super HD! I haven't had my fans go into rocket ship blast off mode not even once; super quiet. Battery life is outstanding. Most of the time I put it on sleep mode and only losses 1-3 percentages per day or so. Having the fingerprint unlock on the top right is very convenient. Honestly, the onlyyyy complaint I have isn't the MBP itself, but rather the macOS Monterrey. They changed things that have made the user experience a bit annoying from the previous macOS's I've used (i.e. EPS not supported in Finder and I have to edit preference files to bypass, the column view in finder doesn't let my scroll left for more then 1-2 seconds before it brings me back all the way right to the active column, external webcam support has been completely shattered and only works on Zoom and SnapCamera but not on Teams). Anyhow, back to reviewing the hardware itself, lol. The keyboard is very nice, easy to type one flawlessly. Ohh, the touchpad is HUGE. Like it's great but sometimes to right-click (and i like to literally right-click, not the 2 fingers type of right-click) I have to then move my hand a bit more to the bottom right to get the right-click only cause the touchpad is so massive. I feel like they could've added the manual right-click with a little bit of a bigger area. Sound quality is good and I can connect to my bluetooth devices quickly. This version doesn't have a touchbar, so I'm glad i have physical keys to press. It's nice having the dedicated HDMI port. I've connected my external SSD drives with a USB-C dongle without a problem. And I absolutely love that this model supports magsafe 3 charging!! Great experience so far. Happy that I upgraded!

It's an Apple computer. What more can I write? If you are a resident of the walled garden, this will be familiar. The M1 family of chips are insane and it only gets better with the "Pro" flavor. Continue to be amazed at what this machine is capable of. If you purchased this just to surf the net and do some light office work, congrats as you just wasted your money. However, if you are into media creation, machine programming, research/development, etc., you are in the right place. If you are new to the Apple family of computers, it may take some getting use to but the learning curve it not that steep. With that out of the way, lets get to the review. The design is typical Apple. It feels very industrial. The aluminum material that's skinned over the surface. There are ports on either side that allows the owner the freedom to connect more devices to the computer than previously allowed. In addition to the two USB-C (lightening) and headphone ports, it also has a HDMI and SD card port. The best addition has to be the return of the MagSafe charging port. No other charging solution out now beats this one. When you open the top, you are greeted with a 16 in screen with one con: the notch where the FaceTime camera is located. With that kind of notch, I would've thought it would have Face ID tech included. Nope, just one camera. The keyboard is nice but does feel a little different when typing. It has two huge speakers on either side of the board. In the upper right hand corner is the Touch ID/power button. That's really nice. One thing not mentioned in the beginning of this review was the addition of the two long slits that sit along the bottom sides of the casing. They look like as CD could be slid into them. Those are vents to expel any heat this machine will eventually generate when doing the kind of work it was made for. Back to the inside...the trackpad is huge and responsive. There are so many neat gestures that can be performed with this pad in the MacOS environment that allows the user to work efficiently. The battery lasts all day and night, typical Apple. The question becomes what will happen over time. Lastly, one more con about this machine...it's heavy. Much heavier than expected, actually. When in the store thinking about making this purchase, take a look at the display and pick it up. Close the lid and pick it up. It has heft.

This has been an amazing purchase. I was worried it might be a little too big, but it's not. It is big, but it's not too big. The screen is beautiful. I will regularly watch things on this vs my tv just because the screen looks so good. The speakers are awesome for computer speakers. I never worry about the battery life, but if I forget to charge it for days, I can fast charge it and be all set after a few minutes. The performance is world-class, probably too much for how I use it, but it's amazing.

After years of too thin, too hot, and too fragile MacBook Pros, it’s nice to have one that has performance in mind and really lives up to the Pro name. I’m a student and I was truthful a little worried about the weight of the laptop but it really isn’t as bad as it might seem. The computing power here is incredible, the battery lasts forever, the keyboard feels so nice, and the Pro XDR display is unrivaled.

I bought the MacBook Pro 16", with M1 Pro Chip, to replace the 2019 line MacBook. The M1 Chip is quick and efficient. The picture and screen quality are excellent, with the usual great speakers of the larger Mac's. The heat management is much improved, with minimal to no heat felt to the undersurface of the new MBP, particularly compared to the previous model. All in all, I couldn't ask for a better laptop!

My new MacBook Pro M1 16-inch is a technical force with an immense amount of power and performance. It's much larger and heavier than I thought. It has to be the biggest and best screen on the market with great battery life. The speakers are fantastic, too. If you're thinking of getting the M1 Max chip, this may be the model to choose.
