I can’t believe it took me so long to buy a MacBook. Best technology purchase I’ve ever made. I’m a professional photographer and I edit hundreds of photos at a time and this laptop is so fast and efficient. Time is money and this laptop had already saved me SO much time! I was worried about making the transition from HP (I own three because I refused to accept how incompetent they were for so long). So very happy with my purchase!

Hands down the best Mac thus far! Apple says that every keynote, but fortunately for us, it also happens to be true! The construction, design and performance are unmatched! Even the bottom of the barrel 16” will wipe the floor with my fully spec’s previous 16” Intel powered MBP. Kudos Apple, you did it again! Now just make it cost 50% cheaper and you will be unstoppable!

The best computer out by far! Super fast, the battery life is amazing. I work online so I’m on my computer for at least 8 hours a day editing, and running multiple files at the same time. The bottom of the MacBook doesn’t get hot like previous models, and the charge will last you all day. If you’re worried about the notch being in the way, don’t be. You get used to it and don’t notice it after a while. The 16 inch is surprisingly easy to carry around, I thought it would be heavier than it actually is. 10/10 would recommend and I love the clean, sleek look.

If you are already using the M1 MacBook Pro with no issues, I don’t think there is a need to upgrade unless it is limiting your workflow. M1 is still way ahead of its competition. There are 2 fans on the MacBook Pro and I could hear them kick in only once (that too on low rpm) while editing a 4k video. Unless you are a video editor or a creative professional who needs more power (for editing an 8k footage, maybe) the M1 pro is more than enough for editing 4k footages and other intensive tasks.

A sexy beast of a laptop

Absolutely amazing. The new chip is blazing fast. I'm going to just highlight some of the best things going on here. First, if you are doing any content creation, the 14" is not the way to go if you aren't docking. The 16" is so much more comfortable for editing; so far, the video editing is comfortable and easy to see, and scaling works well. It has a 10-core M1 Pro with 16 GPU cores, so it can shred 4k with ease. But... if time is really important to you, and you have disposable income, get the M1 max; it has twice the GPU cores and *can potentially* give you better performance with rendering if you are using video toolbox; I personally use CPU rendering for exact consistency so there isn't much of a difference if any for most cases. The camera is way better than the 720p on the MacBook Air and Pro of last year. It's not anything to call home about, but it is much more crisp, and works with the camera effects, adding a nice blur to the background with portrait mode. However, the camera introduces the infamous controversial notch. I see no issues with the notch, and it should not impact your decision. Why? Because the MacBook Pro has a 16:10 ratio, and the top chunk is where the "menu bar" resides. The notch is completely invisible when the UI is black, and even when it's colored, the notch is using empty space. For those who were concerned that it may cover functionality, it doesn't as long as the app developers adapt, and even then, haven't run into any issues. If anything, it's a benefit. With a camera, you lose screen space. Instead, Apple has tiny bezels, and that extra screen space that would've been lost in the bezel is retained; everyone who was making complaints on social media was neglecting to mention that they were using 3rd party apps that didn't change their code to adapt to the notch, whereas all first-party software has no issues adapting. Funny that the creators of apps are shaming Apple when in reality, it is their own negligence to adapt :P I am pro-Notch When Apple said they put high-res speakers, they weren't kidding. The EQ tuning is exceptional on these tiny speakers (apparently 3 on each side); the stereo is immersive and crisp. That leads me to the headphone jack... The headphone jack has automatic impedance voltage regulation, and using the new "Midi" software, you can configure the sample rate up to 96kHz. It can't compete with better external amps and DACs but it can absolutely dominate any consumer laptop in the market. The screen on the 14 and 16 inch models are the same DPI and brightness at 254dpi and 1000 nits (typical) compared to 400-500 on the previous generation Air and Pro units, and up to 1600nits when viewing HDR content. Gaming? Absolutely! I installed Steam and Epic to test performance. I could get 60fps on Rust which runs on Rosetta 2 for the x86 instruction translation, and it works well. The bottom of the chassis got warm, but the fans never turned on. Fortnite also runs, and at a solid 60fps on epic. I expect more optimizations to come from Rosetta 2, the M1 Pro chip, as well as Unreal Engine optimizations to see even more increases. While this is by no means a gaming machine, it is more than capable of casual to moderate use, and that is with a resolution of 3.5k... If you are in the market for a new Mac, chances are this is not for you. Most would be good with the MacBook Air 2020, but if you're tied, I would add that the 16 GB of Ram future proofs the unit even more, and if you plan on side loading Windows 11 with Parallels, it is a no-brainer, this thing shreds Windows too. HDMI port, dedicated MagSafe charging, and an extra USB C port for a total of 3, and a 3.5mm jack, much better than having to buy a dongle for everything. Apple does not disappoint with battery life either; I see anywhere from 15-22 hours depending on the workflow. Between the optimizations of efficiency cores, the huge battery, and adaptive display brightness, everything just fits together so well on the hardware and software. Speaking of hardware, they did away with the Touch Bar, and the physical keys are so much better now. This is the MacBook Pro you've been waiting for. Want some cons? Here they are. It's bloody expensive when there are Windows computers half the price. No Touch Bar; I think this is a con but some prefer it; the camera although improved is still not that good for a laptop starting at 1999 to 2499; the M1 chip uses arm technology, so it has to emulate x86 instructions which is somewhat finicky on some hardware, but since it can outperform an i9 10th-gen even via emulation, not a con other than bugs. Last potential con is the weight, it is a tank at right around 4 pounds compared to the 2.8 pounds of the Air.

    Upgrade from MacBook Air

I upgraded from a MacBook Air that was close to requiring a battery replacement. Traded in the old unit at Best Buy and I received both a fair value and the peace of mind that comes with recycling the old unit properly. The new MacBook Pro is a beauty. The screen size is the biggest upgrade for me, and I appreciate the extra battery life that it provides. I transferred all of my old data using the Time Machine app so I feel right at home using the new unit right out of the box. Purchased a Totaltech plan which gives me Applecare+ for the first two years of ownership.

Why are you reading this? You know Apple came to play ball with this iteration of Mac’s. I went cheapskate and pulled the trigger on the baseline machine with 16 GB of unified memory. There hasn’t been a waking moment with this machine, where I had wished I bought additional memory (Unified memory). My workflow is Adobe creative cloud heavy, a just recently, Adobe has developed After effects and Premier pro to run Native on Apple’s new silicone. If you’ve held out this long, good for you, because of the early software kinks, and lack of eloquence in the early stages of Apple’s Rosetta translation. Software and hardware are finally in beautiful synchronicity. Thank you 

Incredible battery life, Upgraded from an M1 MacBook Air and I wasn’t expecting it to be as good considering how much faster it is & and the size/screen, but I’ve been able to use it for over 12 hours straight with a little left in the tank at the end of the day (or week!). I bought the base model and it’s an incredible value. Very much worth the upgrade over the 14” or the 13” MBP if you don’t need the extra portability.

Love the Laptop, Hate I bought it at Best Buy

It's perfect. My first MacBook Pro was a 15" back in 2012, and I loved it. Since then, though I've tried the Air, the 13" and using the iPad Pro, it just wasn't the same. The raw speed, keyboard, and screen all back to my first experience with a Macbook Pro. Is it expensive? Yes, but it's well worth it for me. The only thing I hate with a passion was buying it through BB, now realizing that I don't get any points for this purchase. It's about the stupidest thing I've seen BB do to their customers. I searched it up, and they started doing it in 2019, which surprised me since I had not made significant apple purchases in the last three years. Anyway, I love the laptop, never buying an apple product from Best Buy. I'm almost tempted to return it and go to the Apple Store.

This is my second Apple computer; I bought an iMac earlier in the year; the first switch from Windows based system. After getting used to it and its versatility and speed, I wanted a portable laptop replace my HP. I decided on the MacBook Pro with M1 Chip because I could install Microsoft Office and transfer all my personal files from the HP PC and use one portable device and still be current in both systems. I am an amateur photographer and videographer. I liked the ability to use the Apple softwares to edit and process what I take on my Canon Professional Camera.

I have owned several MacBook Pros, this being my third, and I have to say I am very pleased so far. The machine is fast and seems to be as reliable as any that I have owned. I do think Apple may be doing something right by introducing their own chips. I think the M1 was worth waiting for in my opinion. It certainly suits my needs. I am not in love with the notch, but it is not a deal breaker for me having purchased this machine. Get one and enjoy!!

It Works as stated and I've been pushing this thing. I unplug at 100% at 6am charge my iPhone from 17% to 100% and my iPad mini 6 from 14% to 91% and still work through all three devices until 8pm I'll be at 67 -72% each night which is awesome. I do have it set to half brightness and volume at all times so keep that in mind.

We have two older laptops, and for our anniversary, we decided to venture off and upgrade our system. The people at the store answered all our questions and made recommendations based on needs. The young man that came to our home instructed us on the laptop operations. He helped set up systems. He even helped the wife set up two games she loves to play/ Once we were indocternated in the system, we have really liked it. Everyday we learn someting new. The MacPro 16" is rewritting all we ever knew about computers.. Great job guys...

Absolutely love this latest new 2021 MacBook!! Along with the higher 16GB memory and faster 512 GB hard drive, the picture quality/ resolution and the all-new full screen are just spectacular!! It's not cheap but it's well worth every penny.
