We needed a new family computer. Switched from IMac to MacBook Pro. Great display, speed, overall performance, and best of all you can take it anywhere.

Best Everything from the battery life to the quickness of the M1 chip… Apple truly delivers here. I upgraded from the mid-2015 model so this was a much needed upgrade for me. I specifically edit 4K/5k video and to be able to watch them and edit them without any hesitation or lag feels like a dream. It is no exaggeration when I say that after a week of using this computer, I have yet to experience, well, hear or feel, the fan come on or even feel this computer get warm. Round of applause, Apple.

Have used both windows and mac for years. After using this computer I have switched all the way to only using this. Once you use this computer and experience the incredible screen and the even better battery life, you cant go back to anything else. I expected exceptional performance but was actually surprised at how good the screen and battery was.

After almost doing it the last two times I upgraded to a new laptop, I finally switched from Windows to Apple. I love this laptop so far. It starts up Instantly, which was the main reason I decided to pay more for an Apple product. The fingerprint scanner works perfectly, so you can say goodbye to using a password to get in. These two things alone make my computer experience so much better, I almost don’t care about anything else. It is a bit heavy, but I highly recommend this model for anyone who mainly use their laptop at home, or at least won’t need to bring it on trips out of town very often.

Apple really set the bar high for this generation. I've always loved MacBooks but with the last few I couldn't pull the trigger on it due to overheating and keyboard reliability. But now this one has thrown all those concerns out the door and I can use the big screen as a desktop replacement and do all the coding, photo editing, and side gig work with no worries.

The new 16" MacBook Pro is a true engineering marvel. The case, display, and keyboard are all exceptionally well engineered. Battery life is incredible -- Sitting here at StarBucks typing my review, I've been on battery for 1.5 hours non-stop and still at 86% with the display set to bright and a mix of Office and browsing apps running the whole time. My 8-year old Lenovo would have rehired a plug-in by now to continue working. The highlights -- great keyboard for touch typing. Expansive touch pad has good sensitivity and the "force" click has a great touch. Machine shipped with MacOS 12.1 and recently was updated to 12.2 with no problems. The display is quite bright, with full HDR support and although not true 4K resolution, the scaling in MacOS is good enough you won't notice the difference. The "notch" is little obnoxious, but it's wholly contained in the top menu bar so it doesn't take up any usable real-estate. The downsides are minor so far. It's noticeably heavier than the 13.3/14" MacBook Pro machines - this is almost a desktop replacement machine and you need to be careful slipping it into a case as it's quite slick to the touch. The SD Card reader has had some performance issues, but these may be a MacOS/firmware related issue as the SD card chipset is the same as in many Windows based laptops. MacOS 12.2 seems to have resolved the issue for me with a limited number of cards I've tested. YMMV, using an external USB-C SD-card reader is an unsavory but workable solution. Of course, this machine is expensive, as built mine was $2499 and it was still a full $1K cheaper than the M1 Max variant with 1TB SSD. You can buy TWO i7 Windows ultrabooks for the same price, but neither will match the performance of the M1 Pro for media tasks,

I tried out the 13" M1 2020 and liked it a lot. 8GB wasn't enough RAM for what I was doing in school thought, and I wasn't a big fan of the 13" screen (just too small for my liking). At the time, the new Macbook Pro M1 Pro series hadn't dropped yet and the only option I had for more RAM (in stock at BB) without custom ordering it and waiting a long time was to go with the the 16" MBP Intel i9. That nearly burned my legs, was constantly thermal-throttling it's potential, and sounded like an F16 was being taxied to the runway every time the fans turned on to attempt to mitigate the heat (unsuccessfully). Thankfully, Apple released this series of MBP with the right RAM and M1 series (Pro) in their 16" size MBPs about 10 days after I went home with the Intel i9. What a relief it's been after exchanging it. Love everything about this computer. Quiet. Powerful. Some might complain of the keyboard change but it's honestly one my favorite differences in regards to the user input. Super bouncy keys and easy to type on. I don't feel myself picking my fingers up on each key like I had been and more so letting the keys bounce my fingers off them as a type. I average 80-100wpm on a normal keyboard (not with the previous MBP) and this has probably increased that to higher than a standard desktop keyboard. I use both PC and Apple very regularly being a computer programmer and they are 2 very different beasts. Overall, for school, media editing, general web-browsing, and ease of use, Apple is the way to go. If you choose Apple and consider yourself a higher end computer user or superuser, this is your beast. If you aren't going to be doing a whole lot more than browsing the web, creating Microsoft Office documents, and aren't super familiar with computers aside from the very basics or word documents and Chrome, this is probably a little more machine than you need. If cost isn't a factor and you're just trying to flex on your friends and classmates, pull the trigger.

Incredible battery life, Upgraded from an M1 MacBook Air and I wasn’t expecting it to be as good considering how much faster it is & and the size/screen, but I’ve been able to use it for over 12 hours straight with a little left in the tank at the end of the day (or week!). I bought the base model and it’s an incredible value. Very much worth the upgrade over the 14” or the 13” MBP if you don’t need the extra portability.

I upgraded from a 2018 15” MacBook Pro. This new MacBook feels better and, since I’m picky on how things sound, I think this has an amazing balanced sound. Much better than I remember my previous one sounding. The display looks better too with the higher quality and higher refresh rate. The most noticeable things were the improved battery life and lack of heat when using the computer. I’m loving the MacBook.

The screen on this computer is one of the best. The operating system is very user friendly and it doesn't take much time to get familiar with it. The craftsmanship is one of the best and will most likely last you for a very long time. My only gripe with this unit is that it is not for gaming. I ended up getting an M16 4070 laptop and I am happy with it. If you’re not into gaming, than I wouldn't hesitate at all to get one. Great computer.

I was a Windows user, was really impressed by the Macbook. It has an awesome display, great surround speakers, It never gets hot, never had any lag or performance issues. Installed Windows using Parallels to run my Windows programs by side. I returned 14" Mac before buying this because it's just $400 more and we get 16" screen and 2 more CPU cores for better performance.
