The first Mad Max film is a tight, independent import from Australia with definite Grindhouse leanings. In Road Warrior, we find ourselves in a post-apocalyptic world that didn't seem to exist in the original, with no real explanation of how it got there. Didn't matter. The top-notch action successfully distracted one from that little fact. Thunderdome follows through with this world to mirror the excesses of 1985. While not as intriguing and suspenseful as Mad Max and not as fun as Road Warrior, it is definitely entertaining, nonetheless.

Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome starring Mel Gibson and Tina Turner, 1985. Mad Max is found and taken in from the wasteland to Barter Town a trading oasis. It is a post-nuclear future and is a hero for a tribe of lost children. He has to face off against Auntie Entity (Tina Turner). This film has criminals placed into a giant cage called Thunderdome with weapons and they fight to the death. "Two men enter, one man leaves." My favorite characters were Mel Gibson, Tina Turner, and the singer from Rose Tattoo Angry Anderson. We need heroes like Mad Max in our world today, we don't have enough of them anymore. I found myself needing to find the way home, and with this one, I did!

Not as great as the earlier iterations or the newsets Fury Road but still an entertaining film, if you a completist You need it!

I got this for 5 bucks and it's cool. I'm a huge fan of this franchise. I grew up in a desert and I'd pretend to be Mad Max often. The blu-ray is great. The image quality is crisp on this one. The film still holds up to this day, I think because the action and stunts were all organic -- no CGI back then. I like all four films, but I think this one is my favorite. I love Tina Turner, the music and all the wacky characters
