My nightmare start as soon as I open the packet charger didn't work(still don't work),not very assessable, points of interest it's very poor, gps not updated, doesn't reroute or gives best route and when punching in the address if it doesn't recognize or it's a new improvement it won't let you put it on.

Overall pretty cool. The update was not easy, clear directions are lacking from Magellen. Finally got it to update. Getting used to how to search for things. It is a little slow. Lifetime map updates are great. The dash am is great too! Caught footage of someone almost pulling out I front of me in the first week! The alerts are really cool too. In all I think this was a pretty good buy, now I just have to get better at using it. (I had an old Garmin before)

Decent Device, Better Ones Out There at Lower Cost

Pros:
*Records video
*GPS
Cons:
*GPS takes a long time to tell you next step so you end up missing a direction if it was right after
*You HAVE to use Magellan software to download/edit videos on your computer, no you can NOT simply save the files to your PC
*IT IS NOT COMPATIBLE AT ALL WITH MAC
*Their customer service is absolutely HORRIBLE
I had this device for one week before I returned it and then bought something much better on Amazon.

Not the best camera

The GPS is fine, but was disappointed with the camera. Video quality was so-so and could not upload any footage from it onto my computer. Since I couldn't playback footage on my computer, this served as no use to me. I returned it, and am now looking at other options. You're most likely better off getting a cheaper camera by itself and just using your phone for GPS navigation (assuming you have a smartphone, of course).

Not a good product

This device features "free life time map updates" but no updates work. When you plug the device into a computer, the computer views it as a normal flash drive. The instructions on the GPS Screen, however, say to follow instructions from PC Application for updating. No PC Application or program ever opens. None ever gets installed when you first connect the device. Opening up the Magellan store in your web browser to get updates brings up a message that this device is not compatible with the store.
When you do finally get connected to the internet to update the thing, your first instruction is to right click the tool bar and "Safely Remove Hardware" this is followed immediately by an error that the device is no longer connected and must be connected to update. So reconnecting it results in another error: disconnect device to continue. Which circles back to the other error: device must be connected to update.
The interface is unintuitive. When you ask someone where they are going they give the address as 123 Main St Anytown, TX. But you need to enter it in as Anytown Main St 123, the exact opposite of how addresses are cited in America.
Also the street names are horribly wrong. I do not believe this is an issue of the map being out of date. The names for exits on highways for example don't match anything that the exit has EVER been called. So when you're looking for the exit to SW 16th St from Hwy 190 in GP Texas, you're actually looking for I-30. Or something like that. It's been a while and I forgot the specifics. But that exit has never been called 16th St Exit.
This is not a product anyone should buy. Spend the extra money and get a good GPS like a Garmin. With navigation like this it's no wonder Magellan went blind circling swimming pools looking for Marco Polo.

Maps not bad, as long as you have a back up GPS to make sure where you are at. The POI's are a joke. try casino, bank ect. try both and went around and around. You can't delete prev. address, you must delete all. their are many, many problems with this GPS. This is my 4th Magellan and by far the one that I shall return to best buy today. Very, very hard to use.

Product Not Designed Well

It's a good idea to have both GPS and camera tied into a single unit and the screen size is decent, however there are many short-comings. Connecting to satellite was extremely slow. Entering a direction is extremely slow, more than 1 sec for each alpha/numeric character. Updates are only available if you have Firefox or Chrome installed on your computer and this is NOT stated on the box. The "playback" tool for the computer also requires Firefox or chrome installed to be downloaded. The playback video shows date and time but does not show your speed (some may not want this but it is key evidence in an accident). Speed limit does not appear in many residential areas. The voice is "so-so" when it comes to saying many common English words.
I had a system from another manufacturer at 1/3 the price. Although it did not have a camera, more information was provided on the screen, street entry was faster, and map updating worked with any browser.

I thought it would be higher quality, but it has the one problem that is similar to the $30 dashcam I bought online.
1) The biggest problem I have is that just like the cheap models, the charger port stops working after about a year. The $30 one did the same thing. Of course everything still works great, except it can't get any power now unless I hold the cord at a specific angle.
2) Image is great, but I can't access the HD video except on a SPECIFIC operating system. I actually lost some video I needed because I wasn't fully aware of that. (It says it operates with PC, NO, it only operates with I think Windows Vista or something, I can't remember, but I tried 3 PCs and could only get it to work on my buddy's Netbook)
3) Finally, the GPS is alright, even though it can take the scenic route sometimes (which could very well be my fault for not updating it, but I can't update it now because the USB cord/charger won't work).

I have wasted too much time trying to register it and even with email support and chat support can not register the unit. You must install their software just to register it, and you can't update it at all until it's registered. The chat tech was clearly working from scripts and had no idea of what she was doing. Eventually she admitted it was shipped with the latest maps which are nearly a year out of date. red light cameras etc non existent
I'm hoping as time goes on I'll be able to locate a source for the maps files which she refused to email to me because, that's right if it's a year old then that OK at Magellan!

If you don't wear sunglasses, you live in a state that allows you to attach a GPS to the windshield and are never in a hurry then this is the GPS for you. For everyone else don't even consider. The user is stuck with a lime green road route that cannot be seen with sun glasses. There are no options to change the color. The standard mount only allows the unit to be hung down from the windshield. The mount is too short to support the unit from the dash. The touch screen input takes way too long.

I have had this over a year and still have the latest map. With my Garmin there was update 3 or 4 times a year. This is a joke to say life time map updates if they never do any map updates!
