    This is a good Magellan GPS coupled with a low end dash-camera. The biggest complaint that I have is that the camera is nearly useless by design. In every possible mounting configuration using the OEM mount, the mount itself obscures a significant portion of the image, and the image is VERY difficult to orient to capture traffic ahead of you. In addition to this, the white balance is way off on sunny days, effectively disabling the camera. The images are captured in a proprietary format, requiring the use of the minimalist Magellan Viewer. The memory card also has to be moved back and forth between the 'viewer' slot and the 'recorder' slot. If you fail to have the card in the 'recorder', the camera looks like it is recording, but the images cannot be retrieved from the memory.

    Bought the Magellan RoadMate 6230 LM for the added bonus of the Dash Cam (you really need one these days). Worked as advertised and I was happy. The unit stopped acquiring the GPS signals (it no longer 'knew' where it was). Power cycled it two dozen times, ran on car power and battery power, reset the unit. Still bad. Once again, I did not purchase the protection plan. Why should I have to buy 'insurance' for a product for which I've pay good money? Now I have to battle with Magellan customer support (probably outside the US), mail units back and forth, and hope the replacement unit works longer than a month. I just want my money back.

    While the gps is a fabulous gift it can be frustrating if you're not exact in your input. It's a great product though so I'm happy with it.

    Great GPS. Love the dashcam. The only thing I don't like is that it is not compatible with Mac. So you can only view the videos on PC

    GPS is a little slow to acquire satellite signal but otherwise okay. Dashcam is good but there are numerous damaged recordings.

    The Magellan - RoadMate 6230-LM is a wonderful, easy-to-use system. The only feature I would want added is a 'pause button' so the "make a legal U-turn" wouldn't go off when I turn to get gas or stop to dine.
