An excellent upgrade to prior Apple wireless keyboards. The deal maker was the built-in Touch ID, Emoji function key, battery recharge capable, and excellent charge life. Needs Mac Apple silicon for Touch ID.

Buyer beware. Sleek and sexy, but know after an hour with Apple customer service, the Touch ID does NOT work with anything other than apple apps or software. I have the top Mac M1 Max and the Apple Studio Display but still, it will NOT work with Google Chrome browsers. It will NOT work for the password to start up your computer. You can NOT use it for any other browsers other than Safari, and even then it will only work in some instances. If you are buying this, as I did, for the Touch ID feature, just know the instances where it does not work vastly outweighs the instances it may and didn't make it worth buying for my use.

    There are MUCH better alternatives

I purchased an Apple Magic keyboard and Magic Touchpad shortly after getting my new M1 Mac mini computer. I work from home and use my computer daily, so I do a lot of typing Monday through Friday. I am offering these pictures as proof of what you can expect your keys to look like after a year or two of daily use. I brought this problem before Apple Support and they suggested I bring the keyboard into my local Apple store. Even though the keyboard was (at that time) less than one year old, it's not covered the same as their computers. Since it was purchased separately, it's considered an accessory and isn't warrantied the same way. For a more capable and likely longer lasting alternative, I can recommend the Logitech MX Keys Mini Bluetooth keyboard. Not only can that device link up to 3 devices, it has backlit keys, a mute key for your microphone, a screenshot key, charges with USB-C, and types better than the Apple Magic keyboard. The Apple keyboard makes a slapping sound while the Logitech makes a more pleasant and muted "thunk" sound when typing. The Logitech MX Keys Mini comes in black or white and has a 10-key option as well for just a few dollars more, but I prefer the Mini arrangement as a desktop space saving alternative.

In true Apple minimalist fashion, this keyboard has won me over. At first it seems too small but then it just works perfectly. The biometric unlock is why I bought this but my watch unlocks my Mac Mini more times that not. Bit this smart fingerprint function has stopped me from typing in my password over and over. Pairs easily and have yet to need a recharge

Minimalist Magic Keyboard with fingerprint reader for logins and Apple Pay etc. pairs instantly with Mac Mini with M4 chip. Long battery life on a charge. Love it, keeps the desk unclutttered.

    Expensive... but great keyboard

It's a great keyboard but kind of hard to justify the price. The ONLY reason you would want/need to get this is if you use it with the latest M-chip variant Mac's. If you use Intel, get the non-touchID because: 1. touchID on keyboard will not work on Intel 2. non-touchID is cheaper Honestly, it's so convenient using the touchID on my MBP for all security authentication, so bringing this to my Mac Mini M1 was a big improvement to just typing in the password. In short, I paid the extra premium of a keyboard just to have touchID. By no means is this the best keyboard to type on or is it the smallest footprint. There are far better typing experience keyboards and ones that are just as small form-factor. With that said, this keyboard is not bad at all when it comes to typing on it. I love my MBP16 keyboard and this feels close to it, but not quite. It feels a little flat and the key cap surface is so smooth that it's hard for my fingers to find it's starting place. Get this keyboard if you want/need the touchID or if you're just an Apple must-have-er. If you're looking for a great typing experience in a small form factor, you could find better for cheaper.

I bought for a new Mac Mini I also purchased. They work great together, and the battery has lasted for quite a while before needing to be charged. The compact design is real nice, and the fingerprint sensor was worth the extra cost.

    Solid Keyboard

As a wireless keyboard for a Mac Mini, or any Mac for that matter, this is a seamless device. Plug the USB cable into the Mac Mini, and it pairs automatically, couldn't be easier. On a desktop, this thing is good. It is super thin and has a tiny amount of slope, not really enough for wrist comfort. Slightly bigger than a 13 inch Mac laptop, it just works. On your knees, not as easy to use. Functional, but not perfection. A larger keyboard like a Logitech works better for lap use. Touch ID works perfectly, just like on a Mac laptop. Battery life is solid. The real downside to this - if it had a touch pad (I call them scratchy pads) to the right - the thing would be the perfect size for lap use. Adding the great big touch Apple wireless touch pad on a lap makes for a ton of juggling. Although imperfect, it is still a solid keyboard.

Everything I hoped for. The Touch ID and charge hold time are two major features I want to highlight. Imagine the ease of having ur payment and password info at ur fingertip (literally). Not to mention the auto turn off feature which saves battery life, and extends time between charges. EXTREMELY easy to connect to any apple product; iPhone, iMac, or iPad.

I just wish it wasn't so flat. The Touch ID is amazing, and I love it, worth every penny to me, but I agree it is awful expensive for a keyboard. I used a certificate so that took some of the cost off of it, but I had been looking and looking for the right keyboard and it turns out this was the one. I love the typing response and the size is just right. Best choice I have made in a keyboard yet. The Touch ID is the bomb.

I spilled some soda on my keyboard and ruined it so I went to Best Buy to get a replacement. The sales associate suggested this model because it also included a fingerprint scanner which I thought was great! I connected the keyboard and everything was great BUT the fingerprint scanner did not work with my iMac. My iMac is not too old at all and it was an expense 27" iMac desktop. After doing some research, I confirmed it was not compatible with my iMac! This was very disappointing! I could have definitely taken it back, however, I hung onto it as I did need a keyboard. I would just ask that the staff be better informed before quickly suggesting things and saying they will work when they are not compatible with some. I'm not upset, just a learning experience to research it myself first! As far as the product itself, the keyboard works excellent and just as anyone would expect from a good quality keyboard! I really wish Apple would Make something a little more visible to the consumer before they spend this kind of money to find out the fingerprint reader doesn't work on all of their computers! Other than that, the keyboard is working flawlessly!

I got this keyboard because i wanted to retain the Touch ID. Although this keyboard does everything i need, the only downfall is that there is no backlight. I was extremely disappointed when i learned about that. I use it when im working with my laptop through my LG 32” OLED Monitor. Overall works great.

The Magic Keyboard with Touch ID for Mac is seriously amazing! It's like having a secret weapon for getting stuff done. I mean, Touch ID right on the keyboard? It's a total game-changer. No more typing in passwords every time you want to unlock your Mac – just a quick touch and you're in. And let me tell you, typing on this thing is a dream. The keys feel super smooth and responsive, so you can type away all day without missing a beat. Plus, it looks slick as heck on your desk. Seriously, it's like the cherry on top of your Mac setup. Whether you're a pro or just need a reliable keyboard for everyday stuff, the Magic Keyboard with Touch ID is where it's at. Trust me, once you try it, you'll wonder how you ever lived without it!
