It's a decent tripod but, the grey/silver buttons that locks and unlocks the legs is a tricky mechanism. They are supposed to allow you to fold the legs onto itself are tight and feel a little cheap for something that costs so much. Time will tell if they give or not. It's just difficult to close the legs once you're done using them.

too short and too cumbersome to make a good travel tripod for DSLR... weight is good, and it fits easily in a standard check-in suitcase. Best for video, methinks?

Cheaply Made & Horrible Panning

If only this tripod were as excellent as the service given at Best Buy Aiea when I bought it. The legs are sturdy, but the head is cheaply made, mostly plastic, and poorly engineered. Right out of the box, several adjustment knobs were misaligned, the levers were sticky, and the head wobbled. Worst of all, when panning with my smallest camera, the head stuck, dragged and bounced. This one's being returned. It's the second Manfrotto tripod that has disappointed me. It's even worse than the flimsy, ball head Element that I'm trying to replace.
