Good gameplay, great for multiplayer, fun like all Mario games

Mario Tennis Aces is more frustration than fun. I've played all the way through Adventure Mode. Some of the levels are quite hard to beat, and took many attempts to complete. What makes this particularly annoying is having to go through the character dialog each time I fail. Instead of simply having a "retry level" button, this dialog takes 30 seconds to go through (including loading the level again) before being able to retry. It is a huge waste of time, and extremely annoying. As you get better, the PC players do as well, often times unfairly so. I understand the challenges should be greater as you progress through a game, but not to the point of utter frustration. Online play is okay - the competition can be very difficult and sometimes the games are laggy, leading to more frustration. As my review summary says, I have found this game to be much more frustration than fun, and that's just not what I was hoping for from a Nintendo Switch tennis game. I wish I had not purchased this game, and I will likely be selling it soon.

The core game of Mario Tennis is fun. The adventure mode is basic and not as RPG-style as the game makes it seem, but it's a fun way of doing different things than your standard tennis match. At the moment, the game (much like ARMS) feels like it came out as a vanilla version of the game and that over time updates will make it better. More game options like match length and a better method of court selection are needed among a couple other things.

Keeps my teen kids busy and fun for adults. Good fun for family gatherings.
