Compact Bluetooth Speaker for Rockers!

If you're a rocker, you're already familiar with the Marshall brand of amplifiers. In recent years, they've expanded their brand to headphones, cellphones and bluetooth speakers like this one.
The Kilburn II is the cute baby brother to the Stanmore, but don't let that fool you. It still sounds great. There's plenty of bass and enough volume to satisfy your everyday needs. This will have a permanent place on my kitchen table, synced to my iPad, for all of my breakfast entertainment. Speaking of syncing, I had no issues syncing this to my iPad Air 2. All I did was push the Bluetooth button on the top and pairing began immediately. When turning the iPad back on, all you have to do is turn the speaker on, and it pairs automatically.
If you're an audiophile, you can adjust bass and treble controls to get a better sound. I recommend starting at noon on both and see if it sounds like it should. I turned the bass down a tad, and the treble up a tad. In terms of loudness, when turned all the way up, it's nowhere near as loud as an old Plexi, but it's definitely loud enough for rock and roll!
It's worth noting that it is IPX2 water-resistant rating, so it’s able to withstand a little bit of water, so you could bring this to the beach if you wanted to. Fully charged, the battery lasts about 20 hours, which should be enough for day at the beach and an evening camping. It looks like it's built to be able to handle the travel also!
The Marshall Kilburn II looks cool, sounds great and is highly portable. My only ding is that it's a little bit overpriced.

As a guitarist of many years and owning other Marshall products, this product fits into my lifestyle perfectly. I own several other BT speakers of many sizes for different occasions. While the Kilburn II isn’t the smallest, or lightest speaker I own, it is certainly the best sounding, which to me is the most important thing anyway.
The controls are minimal (volume/bass/treble), but are very effective, and all that are needed to dial in the sound you prefer. My preferred EQ setting (bass at 7, treble at 5) works well for all of the music I listen to. The Marshall also sounds excellent at any volume, making it a great choice for any situation. It actually cranks up pretty loud and doesn’t break up, but that’s not very surprising considering it’s a Marshall. I’ve pushed everything from Britney Spears, Meshuggah, and Pink Floyd through this thing and it handles all of it with absolute ease.
Once paired and EQ set, all you really need to worry about is the Volume knob. It acts as the power knob and volume in one. On, off, and volume with one knob. What could be easier.
The battery life is also tremendous, as I’ve had this over a week and haven't had to charge it once. The battery level is also clearly visible on the top of the unit with red LED bars so you’ll always know how much juice you’ve got in the tank. Speaking of tank, you could say this is a tank, or built like one at least. I guess that’s why it is a tad heavy though. Again, the weight isn’t an issue to me at all. I actually feel like that makes this even more attractive considering the build quality is so good. You can “feel” the premium when you pick it up. Solid construction with attention to detail. It even has the red felt under the hand strap giving it a really cool vintage musical instrument vibe. In a VERY overcrowded BT speaker market, I can appreciate all that Marshall has done with this excellent line of products. Simply outstanding in every way.
On another note, you can plug other devices into the 3.5mm mini jack, but I don’t plan on using that feature very much since BT pairing is so quick and easy. It sees my Note 8 within seconds of powering on and once I launch my cloud music service app, I am all set.
Lastly, this is most likely on display at your local Best Buy, so I highly recommend taking a listen next time you are in. If you have a musician in the family, consider this as a gift and watch them open it up with delight.
Turn it up to 11 and rock on \m/,

I still have an iPod Classic, and wanted to play it by line out connection rather than Bluetooth. It gets a little cluttered using old fashioned cables but just sounds great. I also tested using Bluetooth with my iPhone 7+ and a borrowed 10x. Bluetooth does improve with a newer phone. I still cling to my line out iPod, but a newer phone makes a big difference in sound quality. Great sound out of a stylin’ unit!

It’s the 17th day, and it does not work. No lights while switching on. (Check the photo.)
Also, it’s not charging.
Sound quality was good. But for the range, I would give 1 star. Social media video sound turns off after playing 2 seconds while switched from Spotify app. I have an Emberton, if I compare this Kilburn II with my Emberton, Kilburn is not something extra ordinary. I expected something better than what I got.
Received better performance from my Emberton.

Initially, this speaker worked flawlessly. Sounds good, compact, great battery life. However, after about three months of use, it stopped working. It just would not charge or turn on, no indicator lighting up. Very disappointed with Marshal's quality control here. Would not recommend.

The Marshall Kilburn II is everything I hoped for and more. Right out of the box, the vintage black and brass design gives it that signature Marshall rock-and-roll vibe. It feels premium and solid—definitely not your average plastic Bluetooth speaker.
The sound quality is outstanding. Crisp highs, rich mids, and surprisingly deep bass for a speaker this size. The analog knobs on top let me fine-tune the sound just how I like it, which is a really nice touch. It's also super loud when you want it to be, without distorting the audio.
Battery life is impressive—I’ve used it for backyard BBQs and weekend road trips without needing to recharge. The Bluetooth range is solid, and the multi-directional sound makes it great for gatherings.
If you’re looking for style, sound, and portability in one package, this is a no-brainer. Marshall nailed it with the Kilburn II.

Great Sound, Great Battery Life, Cool Retro Design

Pros:
* Clear sound that gets loud yet stays clear.
* Great battery life.
* Convenient and useful analog sound control knobs.
* Compact yet powerful.
Cons:
* Volume knob is independent of volume on music device (phone, etc.).
* No local playback controls (play/pause, skip, etc..)
* No microphone for voice calls/voice assistant.
* Charging via provided AC power cord and not the more standard USB charging.
This compact, portable speaker has a TON going for it. It’s definitely designed to be a portable music speaker and not a general-purpose speaker in that it doesn’t have a microphone and there are no local controls for play/pause, voice assistant, etc… What it does do, it does exceedingly well. First and foremost, it sounds great! Clear highs and powerful bass. There are even analog knobs on the top to adjust the bass and treble to your liking.
The battery life is excellent, too, with a really nice LED battery level display. This speaker has a good weight to it; heavy enough to imply quality construction and solid innards, yet light enough to carry around by the swanky (and removable) black/red leather carrying strap. There are rubber feet ensure that it won’t mar any surface its on and keep the shaking bass from rattling anything but your ears.
The cool retro styling is a hallmark of the Marshall line of music equipment. The analog knobs, the corner bumpers and the Marshall logo all say “Music-focused.” There’s a 3.5mm aux in jack for those who want a wired connection instead of Bluetooth.
My few complaints are really minor in an otherwise great speaker. Most speakers of this type have local volume buttons that essentially control the output volume of the device that is playing the music (phone, tablet, etc.). The knob on this speaker is fully independent, though. It adjust the volume of the speaker regardless of the volume of the music device. Since most bluetooth devices send a variable rather than line-out volume, you’ll most likely just max out the volume of the phone and adjust the speaker’s volume as you like. This can be a tad confusing and maybe even a bit of an issue if you do end up setting your phone’s volume high and then disconnecting the speaker. Anyway - it’s not a big deal, but something to keep in mind.
Also, most speakers of this type have a standard USB cable for charging. Probably due to this speaker’s large battery, there’s a built-in AC adapter and a provided AC power cord instead. The cord is removable and the power socket on the speaker is normally covered by a rubber flap to keep moisture out. At least there’s no power adapter (rug bump or wall wart) so it’s just the AC cord. If you’re traveling and want to charge on-the-go, just remember to carry along the provided AC cord and don’t expect to charge from a car unless you have a suitable power inverter handy.
Overall, this is a really great sounding and great looking portable music speaker.

Navigating through tracks, adjusting volume, and managing Bluetooth connections are made simple with the intuitive control panel on top of the speaker. The tactile knobs for bass, treble, and volume are not only functional but also add a touch of analog charm to the overall user experience.

I really like how portable this speaker is, and the battery life is impressive. I usually run it for 1–2 hours at a time while cooking, and I only need to recharge it every 2–3 weeks. The volume is solid within 5–10 feet, though it doesn’t carry well across my 2,500 sq. ft. house, even at max volume. My only real complaint is the sound it makes when connecting or reconnecting to Bluetooth—it can get a little annoying, especially since both my girlfriend and I have our phones paired and it triggers randomly when we move around. Other than that, the sound quality is excellent, I love being able to adjust the bass and treble, and the design looks great. Overall, I’d definitely recommend it.

This Marshall-Kilburn Portable Bluetooth Speaker has the unmistakable look of their classic guitar amplifier with iconic Marshall logo, and brings the incredible sound quality one would expect from this well-respected brand.
Weighing in at a little over 6 1/2 pounds, this bluetooth speaker has a detachable ‘guitar-influenced’ leather strap with soft felt-like fabric on the reverse side, for comfortable portability. Rubberized feet protect the bottom of the speaker from scuffs, and provide stability. The power jack, located on the back plate, is covered by a silicon weather seal which is another small detail that spells good craftsmanship. Suffice to say, this Marshall-Kilburn speaker is really rugged and durable, and certainly made to last.
Flawless functioning of the bluetooth button makes pairing your Marshall-Kilburn speaker to wireless devices super fast and easy; you also use this button to toggle between paired devices. In addition, for those preferring to ‘hard-wire’ their audio, there is a 3.5mm stereo input to connect corded auxiliary sound sources.
The handy Quick Start Guide features a multiple language index. There are two charging cables included - one for the US, and one with a European plug (just in case you travel and take your Marshall-Kilburn portable bluetooth speaker on the road with you). Plus, the speaker’s built-in, rechargeable battery, lasts up to 20 hours on a full charge. Good stuff!
(Caution/Tip: Always unplug the power cord from the wall outlet first, before disconnecting from the speaker unit.)
Beyond the incredible performance of this powerful “little” speaker, which was well-balanced - high sounds were clear and smooth, low sounds rich and deep - I think it’s definitely worth mentioning again, how awesome this Marshall-Kilburn device simply looks! The texturized outer chassis authentically duplicates the feel and appearance of a real, full-sized Marshall amplifier, right down to the Treble, Bass, and Power/Volume control knobs.
So, if you have a fond nostalgia for the classic Marshall guitar amplifier (as I do when reminiscing about my son and the band he played in with friends), then this vintage stylized bluetooth portable speaker might be just the thing for you.
