These headphones are great for the price and is perfect if you're on the go a lot. They've been out for a few years and the ANC is not quite as good as some of the current flagships from the likes of Sony 1000XM 4/5 or the Bose QC45/Headphone 700. BUT the fact that they can fold up in any directions is a huge win in my book. Also, did I mention that they look really good and don't have that cheap plastic feel?

These are the BEST headphones I’ve ever had! I had the previous version of the Marshall headphones for close to 5 years, but they finally gave out. I ordered myself these upgraded version and boy they did not disappoint. Love the new technology, noise reduction, base control I’m so excited about them. I recommend them 1,000%.

Hello, thank you for your review and comments. Was the lossless Bluetooth codec what dropped your rating by 2 stars? We believe the quality and high standards of its components and audio profile make up for the missing codecs: we focus instead on the codecs that can be used by everyone regardless of their connecting device. We hope you are able to enjoy them nonetheless.

Ear pad stitching quality is sub par.. started to separate at seam after two uses.. otherwise, these headphones are excellent quality. Also do wish they would play a bit louder.

First impressions:
Out of the box these headphones feel heavy, which is surprising because my very first thought was that the earcups on these cans seem pretty small. I was worried they wouldn't actually fit around my ears, a big deal because I hate on-ear headphones. No worries though they fit perfectly, even on my giant noggin, and the ear cups are super soft. I don't know what exactly they're made of but it's a great material that lends itself to long listening sessions. They're not the most breathable, but still very comfortable.
The headphones are clearly evoking that classic Marshall design with the classic pebbled finish and a physical "knob" that's used for power/pairing. This retro look even extends to the included coiled 3.5 mm cable. It's a look that will be divisive, as it's going out of it's way to stand out from all of the sleek matte black headsets crowding the market. I happen to love it.
Setup and Performance:
Setup is straightforward, just hold down the knob for a few seconds until the power LED starts flashing blue, select Marshall or whatever it's called on your phone and boom you're good to go. ANC is on by default and you'll instantly notice, as when I first powered them on all the background noise in my home faded away. It wasn't completely silent, but the ambient noise was reduced to faintest of hums. I am very impressed. The ANC on these headphones is easily superior to anything else I've personally ever used. I've tried one of the two current kings of wireless ANC,and this beats them hands down. You won't be disappointed on this front. But how do they sound? Simply amazing. I picked a band at random, hit shuffle, and was immediately stuck in my own little world of high fidelity sound. My intention was to just skip through tracks of different genres, but i ended up listening to another 3 before moving on. Everything sounds great here - highs, mids, lows. It's all excellent. The bass is powerful without distorting or being overwhelming, but as I always say when I review some new headphones, if you're a big basshead and that's your main concern, these may not be the best for you. The much more popular brand of headphones, the one that places style over functionality, are probably best for someone who only cares about big bass and max volume. These headphones are for clarity and accuracy. Music is rich and full crisp in a way that's just impossible to describe. It's that good. Seriously.
charging/battery life:
I don't really know how well the battery holds up just yet because I haven't come close to running it down. So far so good, I've been using them all day and haven't received a low battery warning. Charging is accomplished via USB-C, which is fantastic. All of my devices, except for my other wireless headphones, charge via USB-C, and it's nice to see a top-tier manufacturer getting with the times. This specifically makes me love them for their ease of use even more. I can travel with only one type of cable now, super convenient!
odds and ends:
These cans include a very nice Marshall branded carrying bag. Not sure what the material is but it feels durable and looks great. Speaking of branding, both earcups have a prominent Marshall logo on them. This might be a dealbreaker for some, but again I really like the classic look.
There are multiple buttons that perform different functions. There's the power/pairing knob, a button dedicated to ANC functions cleverly built into the hinge of the left earcup, and a programmable button in the right hinge. I really like the way the two buttons are concealed in the hinge, that's a great design element and I hope other manufacturers take notice.
I haven't mentioned the build quality on these yet, but rest assured it's great. There's a good heft to the headphones, but they're not so heavy that they're uncomfortable. The headband feels like it's made of metal, but it has a nice brushed finish, and the padding around the headband has a good amount of give. I have a giant head and headphones rarely get the clamp force right, but these seem to do a great job of staying in place even when being active. I don't think these would be very good for workouts, but you do you.
Lastly I want to talk about the app. It needs work. I'm using the android version of the app, and it connects to my phone and correctly identifies the headphones, but then it immediately loses connection again ... even though the headphones are still connected to my phone. It's weird. And you'll need the app to program that right button, which is set to google assistant by default. I'm guessing it supports siri? I don't know, I haven't connected it to my iPad yet, and I don't have any intention of doing so. In any event that app is pretty much useless right now on android, but that's fine for me.
final thoughts:
buy 'em. that's all I can say. I wish these were a little bit cheaper, like 50 bucks or so, as they would be the clear winner in this product category, but as it is they're merely a very compelling alternative to the other two headsets out there. Don't get me wrong, I'd choose these over the other two any day of the week based purely on performance (though I do prefer the style as well), but a slightly lower price would've made these a major win. Either way I love them.
