I originally bought this but then exchanged to the lager Marshall Woburn speaker. If you really want a Marshall speaker with smart speaker features, you can but a wifi speaking adapter.

This is a solid, easy-to-use, great-sounding speaker with one little missing feature that kept me from giving it five stars. It doesn't come with an aux in port so you can't plug in wired audio from a TV, projector, or some device like that. If that's not an issue for you then I think you'll love this speaker. Ninety-nine percent of the time I just want to play audio via bluetooth, but I do have a projector in my living room for watching movies or sports (back when we still had sports). When watching video there is just enough lag time in the bluetooth audio that it's annoyingly out of sync. That just seems to be a feature of bluetooth because at least three different speakers I've tried have the problem. So, it would have been nice to use this speaker, which I'd planned to put in the living room anyway, cabled to the audio output from my projector. Putting that issue aside, though, this is a great speaker. It's not too big, but solidly built. It uses a regular AC cord into the wall without a bulky DC converter. It has that awesome retro-looking Marshall design that looks great almost anywhere. And most importantly, it sounds fantastic. I found the default settings to be perfectly fine, but it's nice you can adjust the equilizer settings if you need to. I found the setup to be pretty easy with the Android app. I did get an error on the first attempt, but the second time it worked fine. It got a firmware update, rebooted, then was ready for business. It was very easy to add to my Amazon account. So with that, most of the time I won't even use bluetooth to stream music because now I can just ask Alexa to play whatever song or podcast I want. (I do subscribe to Prime Music, so if you don't have that it might not play everything you want.) I found Alexa to be fairly responsive to commands even while playing music. Some of the other non-Amazon devices I've tested don't always have the best microphone arrays so that can be a problem. This speaker may not be quite as good at hearing commands through noise as the Echo devices, but it has worked well enough so far. Another thing to keep in mind is that it's a directional speaker, just like you'd expect from a standard speaker. Some other speakers like the Echo, etc. are round and you can put them in the middle of a room and spread sound equally. This one definitely sounds best from the front, but was still okay from directly behind when I tested it on a counter between our living and dining areas.

Not as loud as the other Marshall line up... also it is not portable...

Marshall continues to do it right with their line of speakers. If there is one reason to buy this one over the ton of other speakers out there, it’s the style. The iconic Marshall style looks great sitting on a shelf. The fabric speaker cover and brass buttons scream quality. I absolutely love the build quality on this and like the departure from the modern styled cylinder used by many other companies. The setup of this speaker is incredibly easy. If you’ve set up any other Alexa enabled speaker, you will be right at home here. Download the Marshall app and the step by step instructions get you going. The speaker features all of the typical Alexa music services as well as Bluetooth to play anything you want on your phone. Being. Able to play music via WiFi without being connected to your phone is a serious game changer if you’ve never used it. Alexa has come a long way but, I still think some of the smart features lag behind its competitors. Some of the quirks and phrase memorization makes Alexa feel way less nature than other smart assistants. The sound quality on this speaker is amazing! As with any Marshall speaker the sound is incredible. The bass is booming for a speaker this size and the mids and highs are crystal clear. The adjustable treble and bass make this speaker fine tunable for any room or space. This speaker also features multi room audio so you can play music all throughout your house. Overall this is a great smart speaker if you are looking to add one to your home or start a multi room setup. You can’t go wrong here.

Was excited to give this little guy a go. Being a metal head in my youth, I have always loved the look of Marshall amps and equipment so to have a bluetooth Marshall device with that same classic styling was very nostalgic for me. Upon receiving, I opened the box. The device was very well packed in tastefully designed packaging. The speaker basically only comes with a power cord and instructions. Setup was a breeze with the Marshall app which I had dowloaded from the app store. Just connect to the speaker via bluetooth and input your wifi password and you are basically set to go! This speaker has no battery which means it is not portable. The speaker is small enough to be portable, and I am surprised it doesn't have a battery. Once set up, I took it for a test drive using Apple Airplay on my phone. The quality of the sound on this little speaker is surprising! As a self professed metal head, it may not get as loud as I'd like, but the quality of the sound is undeniable. It really sounds great. Aesthetically, as I mentioned it has the classic Marshall style that brings back many memories, but I have to confess to being a little disappointed in the plastic construction. I admit that I don't know why, but it just doesn't lend towards the quality that is obviously inside of that plastic case. That being said, it's not enough of a reason to take a star away as the device functions flawlessly and the quality is in the sound. I would absolutely buy again.
