    Outstanding Sound Quality!

I love this Marshall smart speaker. First, the sound quality is outstanding for a smart speaker. The depth, richness and clarity are amazing for this compact speaker system. It may have something to do with the fact that this speaker is not powered by an internal rechargeable battery but rather it plugs into a regular wall socket, so it naturally has more power available, which I really like. I'm using this speaker in my detached 2 car garage and it has no trouble filling the garage with sound. Also, I found that the equalizer settings in the Marshall app make a tremendous difference in how the musics sounds. There's a range of presets available but for the soft rock I listen to I find the Pop setting the most pleasing. The speaker has rocker buttons on the top to adjust volume, bass and treble so manual adjustments can be made. Since Alexa is built-in, once you set it up you can just give it voice commands and you don't need your phone or the app to control it. If you're going to get a compact smart speaker that you will listen to music on, this one should be on your list to consider. It's definitely worth the price, and it's cool looking too.

This is a solid unit that definitely feels premium. And the sound quality emanating from this speaker validates that first impression. Be sure to do any suggested firmware update first (I did), and then download their free Voice app (available for both Android and Apple). Once that's done, connect the speaker to your devices via bluetooth and wifi (do both for maximum utility). Finally, connect to your Amazon Alexa account for greatest flexibility. Alexa is very responsive on this unit, and can switch between wifi and bluetooth at your command. You can stream music from your phone or other device or have Alexa select music to meet your wishes. Use your imagination. I had Alexa wake me at my desired time with music that I chose. While I only have one unit, this speaker can communicate with multiple units in other rooms of your home for whole-house music. This little unit packs a big sound. You won't be disappointed.

I replaced an old Amazon Echo dot in my basement office with this speaker, and WOW... I like the Amazon products, but the echo dot doesn't even compare to the sound that comes out of this thing! Its nice and small, but don't let that deter you... this thing packs some bass and gets LOUD! I downloaded the Marshall app and setup took about 5 minutes, and that includes the firmware upgrade that I did. So that was pretty fast. I love the look, love the sound, and use this every single day when in my basement working at my desk, entertaining in the basemen, or working out. Awesome!

    Not iPod compatible...yet

I really wanted to love this speaker, but the Marshall Uxbridge Bluetooth has a few limitations, not the least of which is its incompatibility with the Apple iPod series of Mp3 players. First off, the app is terrible, it’s ambiguous and often unresponsive. I initially tried to connect the speaker to my iPod 6. No go. The iPod would pair with the speaker, it just never connected. When I abandoned the iPod, and attempted to set it up using my iPad, I finally had some semblance of success. I contacted tech support for assistance (they were great by the way) and we tried repeatedly to suss out the problem. I even tried to set it up using a second iPod. Nothing. I was informed that there was an issue with older Bluetooth standards like 4.0. The speaker connected flawlessly on my Android phone and tablet. I was informed there was a forthcoming firmware upgrade for the speaker, so I waited for it to be released. The new firmware and app upgrades failed to solve the problem with the iPod. So, if you have an iPod, I would contact Marshall before buying this speaker to see if they’ve resolved the compatibility issue. The speaker itself is a solid device with impressive weight. It features their very cool trademark Marshall amp design. The grill is plastic and feels cheap, however the rest of the design is impressive. The speaker really excels at delivering beautifully crisp and clear high and midrange tones. It was superb at bringing out subtle percussion instruments. I was less impressed with the bass response. There was not much distortion, but the richness just wasn’t there. At a high volume, the speaker did not deliver a quality sound. Despite it’s smallish size, its mobility is limited by the need for a constant A/C power source. To reiterate, I really wanted to love this Uxbridge speaker by Marshall, but it just did not wow me, nor did it rise above other speakers in its class. I’ve owned a LOT of Bluetooth compatible speakers, and trust me, there are better options out there, and at a lower price point. It’s an attractive, stylish speaker, so if you prefer style over substance, go for it. Pros: Beautiful highs and midrange tones Sturdy feel and solid design Alexa compatible Cons: At the time of this review, this speaker does work with the Apple iPod Underwhelming bass response The accompanying app needs work Cheap plastic grill

Hi Don, thanks for your review, we really appreciate your feedback. The Uxbridge is a lot more than just a Bluetooth speaker: have you had a chance to use the Uxbridge with a non-iPod device so that you can try the Alexa features and other Wi-Fi streaming options? The App requires a minimum of iOS 10 but may not be successfully managed on older devices: this means the app will not work with the older iPod running iOS 9.3.5 and questionable if it will work on the iPod running iOS 12.4.6). The Product Team is continuing to work on this and hope to release a fix in the future. Don't hesitate to reach out to [email protected] if you have any further questions.

It's a great little speaker. Maybe a tad on the expensive side, but the sound quality and volume level are great. I really like the ability to connect it to WiFi and then utilize it with Spotify connect. For a compact speaker, the bass is solid, especially if you put it in the corner of the room. Highs are pleasant, although it can get a tad screetchy if you turn it up to max volume with System of a Down playing. There is a 3-band EQ on the top of it, which allows for the adjustment of bass, mids, and treble. Spotify sounds great, Tidal via Airplay sounds even better. I've got it in my office at work and it fills my 12' x 12' office with solid sound with the volume left down pretty low.

    Decent Smart Speaker

The Marshall Uxbridge is Marshall's latest entry into their growing smart speaker line. If you're just now dipping your toe into the smart speaker market, and are a fan of the classic Marshall design and sound, this might just be the speaker for you. The Uxbridge comes in two flavors - this one available now supports Amazon's Alexa and coming this summer will be a model that supports Google Assistant. Marshall also makes an accompanying mobile app called Marshall Voice to setup and control features of the speaker. The overall design of the Uxbridge is immediately familiar to anyone who's seen a Marshall speaker before. It features the Marshall name over a mesh front with "guitar fret" style rocker controls on the top. These rockers control volume, treble and bass levels while one buttons serves as the power / pairing button and another serves to mute Alexa from hearing you. There are also four small lights on the front base of the unit that light up a blueish white when connected and turn red when muted. The sound this little speaker can push out is impressive - and given the amount of customization you can do using the rockers as well as the Marshall Voice app, you can pretty much find the right balance to suit your usual musical tastes. The Uxbridge also supports the whole-home-audio setup that can work with other AirPlay or Alexa speakers, and can work with other specific Marshall speakers to create a whole-home audio system. As common with other smart speakers, it also requires a constant connection to power in order to function and also supports Bluetooth and AirPlay for streaming audio. There's also an option to link your Spotify account if that's your service. So why am I not rating this a 5-star item? It all boils down to limitations that Marshall has now that other smart speakers do not. As a bluetooth speaker, this thing is great - but it's not portable like other premium bluetooth speakers. The sound quality is amazing, but you have to be adjacent to an outlet at all times. As a smart speaker, the Uxbridge also makes some odd trade-offs. For example, a similarly priced Sonos speaker gets you the option of Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and a whole host of other music streaming services where the Uxbridge will limit you, by device, to either Amazon or Google's platforms. Again, the Uxbridge has awesome sound quality and if you're not already deeply integrated with another premium smart home audio system, then this could be your gateway into a deeper Marshall ecosystem. I have Marshall products and I love them all - the Tufton is my serious road warrior Bluetooth speaker. My Monitors are my go-to headphones and my Minors are my gym buddies. Again, if you're a Marshall fan, use Spotify, and want to get an Amazon Alexa-powere device that looks and sounds way better than Amazon's own Echo line - then you need to check out the Uxbridge. If you're already immersed in another whole-home, premium smart speaker setup, then your mileage may vary on how useful you find the Uxbridge.

This speaker sounds great. It sounds okay based on the manual adjustment but once you download the app and can tweak the sounds you can really tune in. It is a smaller speaker so it’s not going to shake your room however the bass is clear and precise. This is not a battery powered speaker so it must be plugged in but it looks amazing and makes a nice addition to my end table in my bedroom. I have been listening to it daily and am very impressed. It’s very retro looking yet very classy. If you plan on taking this to the beach this is not for you but if you want an amazing looking Alexa and speaker this is it. You can run it via Bluetooth or Wifi.

This is the Marshall Uxbridge smaller version that is only integrated with Alexa. I read that the Google version will be out later in 2020. Think of it as an really great speaker connected to a dot. My smart home is pretty much a Google ecosystem but I haven't found this to be conflicting in any way. I mean you do not NEED to use Alexa and that eco system to use this speaker. It can be paired to either bluetooth or linked into your personal WiFi. I did try to use Alexa on some things on the speaker and that was fine. It was a little confusing connecting the Alexa app from my phone because I had initially paired it via bluetooth and then linked everything to my WiFi network. It turned out, the WiFi pairing was the most challenging because it's not as instant as pairing via bluetooth. This also carries over when you use the wifi connection to adjust any settings like volume and EQ settings. There's about a 2 second delay from device to speaker. However, the bluetooth connection, that only has a slight lag in response. Maybe a half of a second. Pretty good depending on how far you are from the speaker and also if there's any major interference with other devices. This also has Spotify integrated as well. No need to jump through hoops and connecting accounts. Pretty much play and connect through the Spotify devices app preferences. The aesthetics are great. Pretty high quality feel to the speaker. There are actual buttons on top and on back of the device. The ones on top is a play and pause button, a mic button (for triggering Alexa physically), the volume rockers, along with the tremble and bass rockers as well. On the back is the sole bluetooth pairing button. The front of the speaker adorns the logo and Amp feel to it. Albeit a miniature amp but it has the classic look to it with the black and gold theme. As for the sound, this is where it really excels. There's the app's EQ to fine tune to your specific preferences, but out of the box when you first connect it to music like Spotify, it really shines. The entire range sounds great off the bat without any warm up to the speaker. The music played from classics to modern pop, it was a joy to listen to. And it's not overly bass heavy off the bat. Like mentioned, the EQ settings can be fine tuned to each individual, which is a great thing. Is there anything I do not like about this? It's a speaker, and does that function exceptionally well in my opinion. Do I like the Alexa integration? It has it's uses, but I am not an avid Alexa user. Would I recommend this device? If you are heavy in the Alexa and Amazon ecosystem, then absolutely. However, as a Google heavy smart home, this is a one trick pony for me. This integrates seamlessly with the Samsung Smart devices universe, and I can view and see it there, but not under the Google Home with this device. That will come later.

To be honest, I had never heard of Marshall speakers previous to owning this products so I decided to give this a try and I have really been impressed with the bass and nice sounds that comes out of this little speaker. I have it on work station right now that I am working from home, and it's really great for background music but also for loud music when I want to play it loud. The quality of the sound is great that I have actually stopped using my soundbar just because it's super easy to connect. Highly recommend this if you're looking for a speaker for your own work station or for another place in the home.

My new Marshall smart speaker with Alexa has a big sound for such a small speaker, you can adjust bass & treble right in the device. The sound quality is nice, goes pretty loud with out getting distorted sound, you can purchase multiple speakers & connect them all put them in different rooms so no matter where you go you can hear it, even with a single speaker I can hear it good in another room. Has Alexa built in & connects via Bluetooth, has WiFi, works with Spotify & Apple AirPlay. Play all your favorite music in one spot. Has voice commands can make calls & ask Alexa questions no need to yell hears you well. Now for the cons set up seemed pretty easy downloaded Marshall speaker app. Connected using Bluetooth paired easily but when asking Alexa to do something always says device lost connection, I can control it with my phone,I followed all the trouble shooting directions & it won’t connect. Biggest con not being able to use Alexa voice control I like being able to just tell Alexa to skip a song, make a call, pick a song to play with not having to touch my device with dirty or wet hands when I busy cleaning etc. I’ve had it a week & still myself & a couple other people tried to get it to respond to voice commands & just won’t work, very disappointed. It would be a great speaker & would have given 5 stars if it weren’t for the voice command not working

The Marshall Uxbridge Speaker is the kind of quality you expect from Marshall. It is well made, compact, and has a nostalgic design. The unit is heavier than I thought it would be, but that just emphasizes its quality. To use the unit, you will need to download the Marshall Voice app. It was easy to download and set up. The pamphlets that come with the unit are not very informative. They direct you to the Marshall web site to download the user manual. However, I was unable to find a manual there, only the product page. The app has an equalizer that allows you to use pre-programmed settings (pop, rock, spoken, etc.) for sound. You can also customize your settings. If you don’t want to use the app, though, you can use buttons located on the top of the unit (though you won’t find the presets there). I had an issue with syncing it with the Bluetooth on my phone. It took me a few tries before it connected. The app also wanted to be updated right away, so I had to wait for that. Once the tech issues were out of the way, it performed as a nice little speaker on my desk. It didn’t take up too much room and didn’t blast me out of my chair. I wish it was a rechargeable speaker so I could have used it without a cord, but that’s a minor complaint. The one thing I had issue though is that the Alexa microphone seems quite sensitive. I wasn’t saying words that even sounded like “Alexa” and it still was being activated when I didn’t want it to be. In all, I do like the Uxbridge, even with the minor tech issues. There seems to be a few more bugs to work out.

The world is full of “smart“ speakers, but you’d be hard-pressed to find one that looks cooler than this. Sound quality is pretty impressive out of such a tiny package, and it pushes a lot of air! Note that it is not a 360° speaker like you might find on the Amazon echo or HomePod, but it sounds amazing when nestled up against the wall on my kitchen counter. Voice recognition is stellar, it has no issues hearing me from across the room. It can, of course, do almost all the usual Alexa-type things. If there was one caveat, it would be that this speaker will not work with Apple Music, unlike Amazons own echo devices. I discussed this with customer support (who were exceptionally friendly and helpful), and it appears to be a licensing issue. Hopefully that will change in the future. This speaker does have airplay built-in, so it is exceptionally easy to stream music from my computer or phone; however, that isn’t nearly as easy as just asking Alexa to shuffle a playlist from my library. If/when this is fixed, this is easily a five star device. The sound is amazing, particularly given the small footprint, and it absolutely looks cooler than any other speaker out there! And if Apple Music is not your streaming source, this might be the perfect smart speaker. If it is, I might wait and see if support might be added in a firmware update.

The UX Bridge is an overall great speaker and with Alexa built in it make it even better. There are several pros and cons to this device. The audio quality of this speaker is pretty good. I like that you are able to adjust volume, bass, and treble all from the top of the device. It is loud enough to fill an entire room but overall it’s not that big and also not the loudest. Alexa works extremely well and I was impressed how far away the microphones were able to pickup. Having Airplay 2 built in is great for people who live in the Apple eco system. There are a few downsides to this device though. I found that the setup was a little confusing and took a long time. Marshal has multiple apps and the first one I downloaded was the wrong one. After getting the right app and connecting it in my phones settings, I went back to the app and it tools several tries before it actually finished connecting in the app. The build quality of the speaker in my opinion is not the best and made of hard plastics. Overall the downsides are not deal breakers and this is still la great speaker with the addition to Alexa and airplay 2.

I already own a few Sonos speakers with Alexa (VERY good sound from them) and wanted to add another speaker. Saw the new Marshall Uxbridge before I bought one and, since it will match the “decor” of my music room where it’s going, thought I’d give it a try. I’ve heard its bigger brothers and was impressed so I was hopeful. I was not disappointed! Amazing sound from such a small speaker and it looks awesome!

The uxbridge is definitely worth the price! I cannot recommend this speaker enough, if anyone is looking to invest in a small speaker with amazing sound quality this is the one! It’s also a great speaker for those who want to pair it up with their other Marshall speakers as it has the multi-room setup feature. I already owned the Action II voice with amazon Alexa so I was super excited to pair both of them and use them in different parts of the house. The uxbridge is also the perfect size to place in any area of your home, doesn’t occupy much space yet produces high quality sound. I was really impressed with how loud it was, it was audible to the whole apartment. Another great feature is the built in Alexa, it picked up my voice very well and the voice commands made it so much easier as I could play/pause without reaching the speaker and I was also able to get general information/updates.
