We use two of these speakers in a 5.0 configuration with a center speaker and two bookshelf speakers at the back; no sub-woofer. They are quite unobtrusive compared with the much larger main speakers I previously used but the sound quality is just as good. I don't feel the need for a sub-woofer with the music, films and TV that I watch.

Honestly I thought my Motion 15’s were slick and clear in the highs; this takes it to a whole new level. As well as having an unexpected amount of power behind it as well. Definitely would recommend these to anyone looking to drop this amount on a setup they will enjoy for years.

One of the best audiophile speakers I’ve owned. The lossless music sounds perfect and live, be it Jazz or metal. Would highly recommend if you want audiophile music without breaking the bank.

Just upgraded my music system for the first time since 1989. These speakers are fantastic. I am hearing new things in my music that blow me away. Best buy guys helped a lot. Easy set up, but had to upgrade everything. You will love these speakers. Now I need to save up for the Theos.

Unbelievably clear and powerful speaker for the money. Hard to get a better quality sound from another speaker in this price range. Tremendous value for the money. Highly recommend !!

I can't speak highly enough of these speakers. I've listened to the $15,000 per pair version as well, and, while I can obviously tell the difference, the $2500 per pair version has all the elements of the more expensive line: Clarity, presence, soundstage, etc. I find myself not only listening to the music, but also using my eyes to 'see' where the various instruments are. Also, while sensitive to placement, they are not quite as 'directional' as the more expensive version, so if you aren't listening at the 'mid-point' you still get excellent sound (not muffled). Electrostatics are a marvel to behold. Though I understand how the sound is produced, it isn't obvious what is producing it when you look at the speakers. Many thanks to Martin Logan for making this technology available to those of us on a budget.

I've had many speakers through the years. Anywhere from the college dorm Cerwin Vega w/ 15" woofers to M&K S150s that were used to mix the Star Wars movies. I purchased the ESLs after moving to NYC. I have a small apartment in a huge complex, so knew I wanted speakers that were crystal clear even at low volumes. I must say, I am impressed! The ESLs brought out details I've never heard before in music, and they're excellent for movies as well. Excellent purchase all the way around!

Fantastic speakers, super crisp quality and definitely add to a rooms decor. Needs to have the right power though! Skimping out on an amplifier doesn’t do them any good. Built for crisp highs and mids, lows can take about a month (or a week depending on how much you listen) of listening to break in the subwoofer to really add the clean punch. ALSO, if using any of the audio quest banana plugs, it will be extremely tight trying to get them into the hole, just have to squeeze it in there.

These Martin Logan speakers are incredible! The clarity from the ribbon speaker is unparalleled. The 8" woofer is pretty impressive also. I'm trying to decide if I need a subwoofer. These aren't cheap and they need some power to take full advantage of them, but these are the best speakers I've ever owned.

The first high end audio system I listened to was McIntosh tube amplifiers with AR speakers about 1970. I soon had my own McIntosh solid state amplifiers with KLH 9 full range electrostatic speakers. If you read the history of Martin Logan the KLH 9 is mentioned. Electrostatic speakers once enjoyed, set a standard that must be met. As my space is shrinking these new Martin Logan’s are replacing an older and larger pair of SL-3’s. After carefully listening to these new ones, I am well satisfied. Bravo!

The realism, soundstage, detail, and transparency of these speakers will have you hooked into listening well into the night, and will keep you spellbound as you dig up every piece of recorded music you own.

My speakers are not "broken in" yet (72 hrs. I'm told). However, the sound already seems lighter and more natural than other floor standing box speakers that I have owned over the years.

Sound quality only Martin Logan's can offer. Look great sound even better. Only problem was the clear plastic behind the black honey comb plastic melted a little. Doesn't affect sound just looks.

Great looking and quality sound for the price. I wanted to buy once as I started my media room and keep them for future growth. This was a good purchase. However, they are only good for stereo sound and you will need to buy a center channel speaker and a sub woofer for perfect theater sound. I found this out after original purchase so buyer be aware!

First they look amazing. Secondly, the way these speakers radiate sound forward and backwards acoustically bouncing sound off the walls is unparalleled by standard speakers. The upper 2/3’s of the speaker system is literally invisible, but they provide the clearest high’s I’ve ever heard. Go to Martin Logan’s website to watch a video of them explaining the technology, then go to Best Buy for your demo.

Once you get these speakers set up in the right size room and angled correctly, these speakers sound AMAZING! Whether they are the only two I'm listening to, or if I add in my surround, center, and subwoofer I get unbelievable sound emanating from all directions. A must have for sound enthusiasts!

I was going to buy the ml 60 when I then heard the esl 8 and the sound was out of this world. I did not think a speaker that didn't cost $20 grand would sound so good , no matter your type of music they will not disappoint you. I even had a friend go to the store an audition the esl 8 and he fell in love and also bought a pair, theses speakers are worth every penny you spend for them but still being responsible priced at a $1249.00 per speaker. Go listen to these speakers they will surprise you and you will not leave with out buying them.
