I've had many speakers through the years. Anywhere from the college dorm Cerwin Vega w/ 15" woofers to M&K S150s that were used to mix the Star Wars movies. I purchased the ESLs after moving to NYC. I have a small apartment in a huge complex, so knew I wanted speakers that were crystal clear even at low volumes. I must say, I am impressed! The ESLs brought out details I've never heard before in music, and they're excellent for movies as well. Excellent purchase all the way around!

It’s all about clarity, every one is impressed with their appearance and price! They don’t realize that these are the budget entry level electrostatic speakers! I’ve owned KEF. BW. Klipsch infinity and used to sell ESS when in college in the 70’s

My first Martin Logan ESL purchase. Amazing upgrade to my old Mirage speakers. Clean and crisp mids and highs. This is definitely worth the price and value and an investment. It is masterpiece item of a home theater.

I have these speakers set up in a medium to small room, paired with a ML 1000W sub and B&W rear speakers, and a Marantz 5011 receiver. It's just like being in the theater. for some reason the reciever wont take these up to the max volume of the reciever so im not sure if its the speaker cutting it off or the reciever but it's plenty loud anyway and very sharp.

Ppl think I'm crazy when I tell them how much each speaker cost, but heck the sound quality I get and the sexy design of the speakers..... tottally worth it. I wouldn't trade them in for anything. Best speakers in the market..... my opinion, and yes, my opinion counts....lol.

Strengths: a very tail sound stage, and a unique ethereal sound. Weaknesses: very limited sweet spot. If you move your head, it can change the sound. This might be perfect for a small room with a fixed listening position. I would also recommend a separate sealed subwoofer.

I was going to buy the ml 60 when I then heard the esl 8 and the sound was out of this world. I did not think a speaker that didn't cost $20 grand would sound so good , no matter your type of music they will not disappoint you. I even had a friend go to the store an audition the esl 8 and he fell in love and also bought a pair, theses speakers are worth every penny you spend for them but still being responsible priced at a $1249.00 per speaker. Go listen to these speakers they will surprise you and you will not leave with out buying them.

The Martin Logan ESLs are crystal clear and with surprisingly good bass for an eight inch woofer. When they are coupled with the Martin Logan 700w subwoofer, the sound is amazing. The soundstage extends far beyond the plane of the speakers. Placement is critical, and they do require a substantial amplifier. Martin Logan recommends 20-200 watt, and I would think that should be at least a 100 watt minimum. Electrostatic speakers are notoriously inefficient. The downside: it took four tries to get a working pair. One of the first pair died in three days, and the replacements came in with shipping damage twice. Both were broken in the same place. The crew at the Springfield MO store went above and beyond to get me a working pair. Kudos to them.

I love the sound of these speakers. I thought the bass was impressive even though so many reviewers say you need a subwoofer. When you sit in right spot it seems like the music is coming from everywhere.

These speakers have great sound. I'm hearing things in songs I've never heard before when listening to them in the past. There is a sweet spot for these speakers and as multiple people have said, the sound will change slightly when moving out of it. although the sweet spot is much larger than I anticipated so you shouldn't be concerned about it being to small. Room size plays a factor as well. Also be prepared to spend more time than normal setting up placement of these speakers. It's so worth it once you get it right. Best speakers I've ever owned.

Imaging and sound stage is the best I have ever heard in this price range. The ESLs brought out details I've never heard before in music. It really is difficult to tell that the sound is coming from a speaker and not a live performance. Everyone who has heard them is amazed at the quality of sound they put out. These speakers also come with nice black nylon mesh covers embossed with the MartinLogan logo to provide exceptional dust protection when the speakers are not in use.

The MartinLogan ElectroMotion ESL speakers are amazing. They produce some of the best "realistic presence" mid and high range sound of any speaker I have ever heard for a stereo speaker. I do have an older Polk Audio 8 inch sub-woofer for strong very low end bass, and the combination is the best sound I have ever heard from a stereo system. I think the price of these speakers is well worth the sound quality, if you can afford them.

Just upgraded my music system for the first time since 1989. These speakers are fantastic. I am hearing new things in my music that blow me away. Best buy guys helped a lot. Easy set up, but had to upgrade everything. You will love these speakers. Now I need to save up for the Theos.

Produces more live / spacey sound compare to ordinary box speaker. Need a lot space around the unit. Sweet spot is wide than expected. Mid Bass is sufficient. Requires good "high current" amp to run. For deep bass add a subwoofer. 80 hrs break-in period.

So far I'm enjoying the clear and enveloping sounds of this speaker. For now I've only had it playing with a Martin Logan ESL center channel. The other speaker had delivery issues. And so it goes. Stereo will be awesome! Make sure to connect it with excellent cables, I noticed a great difference. Paired with a 10" sub, smooth lows.

Honestly I thought my Motion 15’s were slick and clear in the highs; this takes it to a whole new level. As well as having an unexpected amount of power behind it as well. Definitely would recommend these to anyone looking to drop this amount on a setup they will enjoy for years.

One of the best audiophile speakers I’ve owned. The lossless music sounds perfect and live, be it Jazz or metal. Would highly recommend if you want audiophile music without breaking the bank.
