The game itself is enjoyable, with a good story. But, it has some bugs that it seems they are still working out that, at times, can get a little frustrating. If you are looking for a good comic book story though, its still worth it.

I was going to write a full review, but Google only allows so many characters and I'm sure most of y'all don't want to read a block of text. So here's my review of Marvel's Avengers (PS4. Any elaboration on point I'll include with a "-"): Pros: Graphics Character Identity/Feel - They really did well with Iron Man and the new girl Kamala Khan. Story Cons: Frame rate issues Tacked-on feel of gear system - Felt like it was only there to prevent you from progressing too quickly. Gear doesn't provide a unique look nor changes how you play. - Doesn't make sense in-game. Why does Tony Stark have to hunt for gear, especially when some of the gear is made by Stark Industries? Why can't Thor call up Asgard and have them make some super powerful armor? Poor cosmetic system - Most cosmetics are locked behind a paywall, and there's not enough cool ones to be unlocked through gameplay. Lack of Impact - Enemies reactions to your attacks don't match up with what you're doing. When facing some of the more powerful enemies you'll notice they won't even flinch at Iron Man's repulsor beams, Thor's hammer, or even Hulk's punches. Lack of Enemy Variety - Most enemies are just variations on armored humans or armored robots. Poor Enemy & Encounter Design - When getting to the endgame, a lot of the powerful enemies have bright effects that are yellow, light blue, or red (ex: fire, electricity, light), which happen to be the same or very similar to the colors used for (melee) attack indication. This makes their attacks much harder to dodge. In addition, some enemies attacks have 0 indication. - At high levels, most enemies you face will have some sort of stun move that will take you out of the fight for a second or two. Often enemies will chain these together so if you get hit you either die from taking 3-4 stun moves in a row or need to back off for a health pack. - The game likes to throw many of the strongest enemies at you at a time, all of which feature uninterruptible attacks that they use liberally. While normally fine, nearly every enemy attack can interrupt your actions (except certain special moves) which creates a huge power disparity. Overall: 2/5 Needs work. Marvel's Avenger's is a game of extremes. What it does well it does VERY well, and what it does bad it does VERY bad. I'm sure once the technical issues this game will be closer to a 3.5. I would wait for it to go on sale for ~$30-45 before buying, unless you really want to go ham on bad guys as your favorite superheroes. Edit: Now that I've played much more of the endgame, many more and more alarming issues have become apparent, which loses this game another star. Mostly this falls under poor enemy design, which is explained above. These all make the heroes not feel super (come on, 3-4 punches from a generic robot shouldn't take down the Hulk), and force the endgame to be highly defensive.

Going to start off by saying this game has a lot of negative buzz. Especially as someone who was been excited on bought this upon release. I will say some of it is not to be ignored, the missions become repetitive after a while. The story while enjoyable only lasts a couple of hours until reaching the endgame content that becomes stale. Even so, as someone who bought day one I have enjoyed the combat and gameplay enough to spend around 100 hours playing and attaining max power level for Iron man. With more free content drops coming like Kate Bishop who recently released. I think the game can only become more appealing especially as its price has certainly gone down. So even with the game's glaring issues I still believe its an enjoyable experience and if your a marvel fan, something you'd enjoy.

If you can look past the glitches, this is a pretty good game. However this is a greater experience if you can play with friends. Mind you, we have encountered quite a bit of bugs/glitches which I hope they patch soon.

Admittedly I grossly overestimated how much solo content there would be in this game. While it IS fun to play, once the main campaign ends (which takes maybe 8 hours?) it runs sort of stale for a solo player like me. Each character really has their own set of moves and skills despite the controls being very similar, this makes each one fun to watch without too much difficulty remembering how each one plays. I trucked through another few levels of each character after the main story ended and their various "Iconic" missions, but it got very grindy and repetitive. As they add more characters I'll pop the game back in and experience it, but outside of that I don't see myself getting back into the game without a crew to play with online.

Fun game to play as various avenger characters. Really enjoy the multiplayer mode with friends as well. Many of the missions seem a bit repetitive so far but that may change as I progress through the game.

i was skeptical, but its a great starting point for a marvel game. Graphic and control is great. Additionally, storyline is good. However, the mission is to repetitive. Overall its good to give it a try.

Playing as the heroes in this game is seamless and incredibly fun. Where the game lacks is repetitive missions and a rough time in the endgame. I trust the developers to fix these in time but for now my review will stay where it is. If you love controlling powerful characters with awesome abilities, go ahead. If you value stability and a non-buggy experience, maybe wait a bit. But if you're an Avengers fan of any kind, you owe it to yourself to try this game.

For someone who loves Marvel, this game is still worth the buy to me. It is however repetitive and they could have done better. The characters look great but it’s nothing like insomniacs spiderman game.

Marvel's Avengers was lambasted upon release, with good reason(s). Microtransactions galore for new, desired outfits, new characters, and more (I do NOT consider the "Spider-Man Drama" among these. In the same vein that Sony players shouldn't expect Master Chief in their games, don't expect Spidey to show up on other platforms- remember, Marvel was pulling a Titanic & in bankruptcy, only able to tread water due to Sony stepping in to purchase the rights to Spider-Man, so if you're carrying expectations for access to Spidey outside of Sony's desires, you need to keep those in check). While a purchase now will not net you all the goodies, those of us who gave Avengers a shot via PS+ or purchased the game & earned a trophy prior to the ending of support on Avengers netted (almost) all the DLC for free, so if you played via PS+ and earned a trophy prior to support end, a pickup may still net you these. Regardless of the now free stuff, spending time with Avengers can find you a solid, if not very fun, action game. It doesn't hit the notes of Square's follow-up GotG game, but this is more Diablo looter-shooter than story driven. If you're soured on Avengers just based on what you've read, you may have a hard time getting over that hill. If you're looking for a fun time-sink, happy just to play with Marvel's flagship team, you may end up surprised. Hard to recommend to *everyone* but fans willing to look past the serious missteps Square took from the outset and just play the game, minus the outside drama, but fun... and quite a bit of it, CAN be had here.

It’s been two years since Spidey showed up to rock the game world, now we get a game with six times the heroes. It’s not free roam (open world) but that’s because it’s an adventure that spans multiple countries. And the combat is rather sophisticated, the story exceptional and the graphics are next-gen. Welcome to future, be good!

Beside the fact that they choose a main character that people barely knows, the story is awesome. The only thing that feels boring are the same mountains the 75% of the campaign.

The early reviews made me wary of getting this, so I waited until it was discounted. Having waited, I'm far more satisfied with the game than I would have been paying full price. It looks amazing, and I quite enjoyed the story, but the gameplay itself its very repetitive and not user-friendly to navigate between side missions. Being able to upgrade to the PS5 version for free is definitely a positive and something that helped make buying the game feel worth the discounted price.
