As a huge fan of the first 3 Mass Effect games, I will say that Andromeda is still a solid release that has a satisfying single-player mode. Despite what cynics claim, this game was a lot of fun to play with memorable characters that you come to love. Please note that the Bioware team that worked on this game (Bioware Montreal) is not the same team that worked on the original three games (Bioware Edmonton). With this in mind, they did really well for their first full fledged game and I applaud them for doing their best. Combat is really polished and the vast amount of biotic/tech powers will make you drool. Driving around in the Nomad is pretty fun and makes exploring the planets exciting. The story is engaging and satisfying as a first installment.

I went into this without bias. I never played the original trilogy. The voice acting, story, graphics, characters, and environments are just amazing. Only flaw is there are numerous technical issues with game.

I am a fan of the original Mass Effect trilogy and I was cautiously excited for this next step in the franchise. Mass Effect Andromeda is a new direction in the franchise not only with a new cast of characters, but with exploration and improved combat. The only issues I have seen in the game are technical ones, like the game stuttering when driving the land vehicle(nomad) or things not loading in when talking to characters such as their bodies or textures. These can be annoying, but are not game breaking so far. The game is fun and fans of the franchise will enjoy it, you just have to tolerate the issues. I think EA rushed the game out so it hurt the quality, but it's still fun and hopefully they can fix it with patches

The game has a great story and excellent graphics, minus the somewhat "cartoony" faces that don't really fit with the realism of the surrounding graphics. However, if you don't go in looking for the next Elder Scrolls, as many who'd played the original Mass Effect trio did, then your expectations won't be shattered and your experience won't be bad, kinda like the hype versus the reality of No Man's Sky, originally. I've enjoyed that game, since I first got it, because I didn't pay attention to all the hype, and so I didn't know what to expect. Without that (rather untenable) point of comparison, the game seems much better,

As you've heard already, I'm sure, the game does fall short of meeting the high standard set by previous Mass Effect titles. Yes, the animations can be jarring and there are definitely bugs to be encountered. But you know what? If you swept aside BioWare's shortfalls before, trust me when I say you will do it again. Mass Effect: Andromeda still has a sense of discovery and wonder that enthralls me to my core. The multiplayer is okay (very similar to ME3, if not basically the same thing) but the single player here is really what it's all about, and to me, it does deliver on the story. If you enjoy Mass Effect and/or (semi-)open world RPGs, you're going to like it as much as I did.

I have loved every minute that I have spent playing this game. My friends that have it have had nothing but good things to say about the story and game play. The multiplayer aspect is pretty much the same as it was in ME3 but it is just as addicting as it was then. I would high recommend this game to fans of the series and if you have not played the others it is easy to jump into.

If you have played the Mass Effect trilogy, and expect the same greatness from Andromeda, you are going to be disappointed. However, if you treat this as a stand-alone game, it really wasn't as bad as some reviews say. There is a big open and beautiful galaxy for you to explore, a ton of side quests to distract you, and the combat gameplay is decent to say the least. What doesn't make this a Mass Effect game is your in-game choices doesn't seem to really matter in the end - something that traditional Mass Effect fans were used to and would love to see otherwise. I personally found the companion related side quests to be more entertaining than the main storyline and this adds further value to the game. There is also a co-op survival style multiplayer which doesn't have a lasting appeal but good for short term fun. Last but not least, I have the Deluxe Edition but didn't think it was worth the extra money as it won't change your gaming experience much.

Im a huge mass effect fan and preordered this at launch but canceled after all of the negative reviews came in. I decided to wait for a sale and got the game for 20 bucks. The graphics are outstanding and the gameplay is fun so far. Im only 10 hours in but entertained for now.

I personally really liked this. The story wasn't up to the level I hoped (the two new alien races either instantly shoot at you or very quickly accept you and I thought there could have been more tensions in trying to get along as a visitor from a far-off world), but I still like most of the characters, the gameplay is a lot of fun, it's fun to role-play in this universe, and I personally haven't experienced the bugs that seem to crop up in a lot of gameplay footage. It doesn't feel like it has advanced as far as other series like the Witcher, but I still got absorbed into the world the same way I did with the prior games.

I know ill take some flak for this but, Andromeda was actually a great game. The facial animations did have some issues yes, but after reviewing more and more games myself i found that almost all modern day video games suffer from facial and body animation issues. Sadly as well most games when they launch are very broken..... mass effect isnt the only game thats had to deal with that issue. So with how cheap it is now if you ever want a (separate dlc) for the mass effect series definately pick andromeda up.

If you are a fan of the original ME trilogy odds are you'll enjoy this game. That being said, it is a deeply flawed experience that leaves you scratching your head, wondering how such a reputable developer like Bioware could produce such a half-baked game. I'll start with the PROS: The combat - while at times sluggish, the combat here is the best it's ever been in the series and the ability to swap powers in-and-out on the fly is pretty awesome. You can really get creative with the mixing/matching of combat, biotic, and tech powers. This also extends to the multiplayer which is similar to ME3s (Gears Horde style gameplay where a squad defends against waves of enemies that get progressively harder). Also great is the feeling of space exploration that was magically captured in the original ME trilogy. Andromeda does not have the familiar celestial landmarks that our Milky Way galaxy did in the OT but Andromeda is still vast and fun to explore in the new space map. The CONS: the original ME trilogy put Bioware's finely polished role-playing sensibilities into a space setting with over-the-shoulder real-time shooting combat as a fun addition. Here, the combat is front and center and sadly the role-playing really does not live up to the previous game. Ryder is nowhere near as cool/fun as Shepard and the Renegade/Paragon system has been abandoned for a much less compelling emotional/logical/aggressive/empathetic response system that just doesn't leave you much room to be the badass that we all know we can be. Yes the facial animations are pretty lousy but honestly it's not that bothersome. Another flaw is the utterly convoluted inventory management system. Having just played Breath of the Wild (which manages inventory with the fluidity and grace of an iOS device) this game's inventory is like trying to manage a vast inventory system with an AS400/DOS style interface (and not in a fun/stylistically consistent way like Fallout manages to pull off). I'm exaggerating slightly there but the inventory system is completely cluttered and really could have been, and should have been much better given how long this game was in development. The supporting cast here is also very mediocre compared to the OT. Outside of the Krogan the rest of the crew is pretty bland. It really made me miss Garrus, Joker, Ashley, Wrex, the Illusive Man etc. All in all, if you were a casual fan of the OT, wait for a sale for this game. It's fun but you'll probably be disappointed if you pay full price for a game that got delayed twice and comes out feeling kind of half-assed. If you were a major fan of the series I'd say get the game, you'll enjoy it. If you aren't a fan of Bioware or over-the-shoulder shooters you can skip this.

There's been a lot of negativity about this game, however I really enjoyed it and I'm a huge fan of the original Mass Effect trilogy. You play as Ryder, a leader in a Milky Way expedition to settle the various sentient species from the first games in a new galaxy. Naturally things don't go as planned and adventure follows as a result. I encountered a few bugs here and there and would recommend closing the game instead of sleeping it if playing on PS4 (sleeping the game tended to cause frame rate drops for me on my original PS4). The combat was fun. Ryder isn't limited to class-based skills in this game, but has the option to equip whichever skills you want. Multiplayer is just like ME3's which is a good thing, though rounds are only 7 waves long instead of 10 - makes things go a little faster which is good. I thought the story was good, and lays a good foundation for a follow-up game. The scope might not be as epic as "near-invincible machines are coming to wipe out the galaxy again", but it is about as epic as ME1. If you want a more polished experience, you may want to wait until the holiday season of 2017 so Bioware can release a couple more patches, but the game is quite good now too.

Mass Effect Andromeda is as great game overall if you don't set your expectations too high. The game has great fast and fluid combat with a good story to accompany it. The facial animations may detract some from the experience but that is really the only grape about the game I had. Overall a great buy for Mass Effect fans.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is a mixed bag. There are plenty of quests to keep you busy and opportunities to customize your abilities, but it's disappointing that you're still only allowed to play as a human in the main story. This especially frustrating because there are so many alien races in the game. Combat feels good though. Cover is a little iffy, but you can move fluidly throughout the battlefield with ease. Exploration is fun. The game could definitely be more than it is, but it's still fun to play.

It will be hard to surpass the characters and story from the original trilogy, but the game has a lot to offer. Better graphics, controls, sound and game engine. However, it wouldn't be a bad idea to wait on a couple patches as there are some bugs in the game. None that I've experienced, but many are reporting. If you are a fan of the series, it's a no brainer. If not, there are better RPGs to play like the Witcher 3 or Dragon Age. If Sci-Fi is a must, this may be your game.

I strongly feel that in 10 or 15 years people will look back on this game and describe it as a great game. It's gotten a lot of flak and much of it is due to issues during it's so called rushed launch. However, this game is fantastic. It takes all the best features of the previous games and some of the best features of Knights of the Old Republic and combines them into one fantastic game. The worlds you travel to are phenomenal. The music is rich and appropriate for each mission, planet, and the like. Though some of the characters are interesting, they don't feel fleshed out. The skill tree is really unique compared to previous Mass Effect games, since it doesn't matter what you start with, you can learn almost everything. This is a great game, and though it's gotten a bad rep now, I really think people's minds will change... or at least when another generation picks this up --a generation that did not play the previous trilogy. Kingdom Hearts and Zelda: Windwaker also got a lot of bad reviews and flak when they first came out and now they are essential for many gamers. I don't know if this game will make that sort of come back, but it truly is much better than people have been describing it. I actually like this one more than the first one.

There have been some negative reviews about this game, but it is a very good game. The combat has been improved since the original trilogy came out. The graphics looks great, and the planets are interesting. The multiplayer is a blast. It's worth a shot. I'm giving this a 4 out of 5. They can make the cover system a little better, as well as the user interface. Improvements are coming to the game soon Bioware said.

This game is very enjoyable. It has a great story and the character interaction is interesting. I find myself spending hours exploring and performing quests on each planet. Yes there are a few graphical issue but not as bad as the ones you see on Youtube. The facial graphics a not great but acceptable. I am not playing this game for facial graphics but for the exploration and adventure.
