A New Low For BioWare, Still Has Some Fun In It
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm a longtime BioWare loyalist, and have been since the original KOTOR game came out for X-Box back in the day. There are numerous issues, including not being able to access their servers for any of the online/multiplayer aspects of the game, as well as some major bugs, though none have broken the game for me (yet). 3/4 of the way through the game, I feel I can weigh in. One, you need patience to get to the good stuff. Like 7 hours of gameplay level patience, at least for completionist explorers like myself. There are some amazingly well-done missions, and some horribly typical ones too. Despite all the many legitimate issues about this game, I love the format and I'm still having fun with it. To keep this brief, I'll bullet point the good and the bad. Positives -More of the same. If you like the way BioWare makes games there's still a lot to love, from exploration to some interesting characters to the (Suikoden-style, Inquisition-style) sense of building a coalition of allies against a large threat. -Best combat system in a Mass Effect game ever. -Some great characters, moments and decisions with no more "good/bad" "paragon/renegade" options.. in fact it feels more like the conversation choices from Alpha Protocol, which I loved. - There's still lots of game. I've been playing for 50+ hours as a completionist and still haven't finished it yet. Bad - Yes, the facial animations got hit with an ugly stick. It's a SERIOUS drop in quality from DA:I and even in some ways looks like the game came out in 2003. This is one of the bigger flaws, especially when compared to previous BioWare efforts. Yes, they've always had janky recycled body animations that they've been using forever and ever, but almost no effort has been put into the facial expressions this time around and it shows. -Buggy/unplayable multiplayer issues. -More of the same. This story doesn't feel new at all, despite the new galaxy setting. You still have your cloak and dagger element, the large galactic threat, the ancient alien civilization ruins that are technologically advanced, etc etc. It's easily the weakest story put out by BioWare yet (and I liked DA:2 to give perspective on that). Bottom Line Is it worth playing? Yes, if you're a fan of the BioWare formula and RPG gamestyle. And it might be worth waiting a few months or a year to buy/play it if you want to have them iron out all the major flaws of the game. After I finish my playthrough I don't intend to touch the game again until all this bull has been fixed.

A Return to the Mass Effect Universe
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Mass Effect Andromeda will please fans of the series with its familiar combat, rich story, and vast worlds. For the uninitiated, play Mass Effect 1 first. Its a better introduction to the universe.

Love me some mass effect
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not too far in at this point, but it feels like mass effect. Game got a lot of bad reviews and flak for the faces and animation. With the default Ryder models I can see why. The custom versions fair a little better, but if you can't just focus on the dialogue and story the models animations (especially mouths) can pull you out of getting immersed during dialogue. The dialogue system FEELS more robust than previous games in the series, but time will tell how deep it affects the story. Combat and action are nice. Best part of the game so far. It's worth giving it a chance at discount. If I had paid full price at launch I'd have been dissapointed.

Good but buggy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game has a lot of bugs and issues. I think they rushed it to make the March release date. I would wait a month or two and see if they can fix it. Maybe wait until it goes on sale.

Nice change of pace
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Yes of course there are bugs as many have seen or heard but, don't let that stop you from enjoying a good game. Very good entry for anyone that didn't get to play the others.

Great game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There are still some bugs and improvements that are needing to be updated. EA did say they are working on it, but did not say when. Regardless, story and gameplay is great.

Ambitious
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don't get involved with hype or the pandering against this product, I allow it to speak for itself. Personally, the ME Trilogy is part of my absolute best gaming memories ( alongside greats like Ocarina of Time). So far this title is more ambitious than the trilogy, yet seems too scattered to remain focused. Still, the first game didn't grow on me until I neared the end and all of a sudden I had that "A-Ha!" moment, so I'll reserve judgment of this one until then as well. Overall though, it's a good game, even better if you've never played Mass Effect before as there are no expectations.

Andromeda
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I know this game has received a lot of criticism. Some has been deserved, some is a little exaggerated. I am enjoying it but I do admit, I expected more. I've been a long time fan of the series and have been a little disappointed. I'm all about a game's story and becoming immersed in it. However, some of the animations can quickly take me out of the immersion. Anyway....I'll always be a fan of the series. I hope Bioware can learn from these mistakes. Games really shouldn't be rushed.

Great game!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great, flexible combat system- you are no longer tied to one class, you can change styles on the fly, mid-battle. Makes for nice variety, and even adds a new strategic element on what class you may want to use depending on boss battle vs grunts, or open enclosures vs closed quarters. I have thoroughly enjoyed the combat, but it did take me a little time to adjust to some of the newer controls, Plenty of missions, even if it is somewhat repetitive, I didn't mind because I love the combat.

It's pretty good
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.ME A is the worst Mass Effect of them all, but it's still a pretty good game. Load times and animations between planets and destinations are annoying and numerous. In one case, traveling to a specific area on a space station can have up to 4 different load screens. There is no shortcut to just get where you need to go. On the positive side, the story is fun. They did a nice job leaving mystery for subsequent games. Combat is fun. As you level, you will start to unlock some great combo skills. They could have spent a bit more time on polish, but MA E is worth your time.

A great game with a few hipccups
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First of all i love the Mass Effect francise, the trilogy was amazing. As a fan of the franchise i had great expectations for Andromeda. This game does not dissapoint. Yes it has the much talked facial animations issue and a few glitches, but it does feel like a Mass Effect game and Bioware is working on solving the issues (they just released a patch). New comers to the franchise will have plenty to learn about the races and tech, but that is part of the expirence. Veterans will feel right at home and a new galaxy to explore.

Pretty Great
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don't understand what everyone is complaining about, this game is pretty good. On the first planet and I like going at my own pace with the open-world exploration. Also the story is pretty good for it taking place after the original trilogy. I have practically no complaints tbh

A far cry from the original Trilogy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Andromeda is an OK game that feels incredibly unpolished in its current state. Compared to the original trilogy, the writing is poor, animations stink, character models are underwhelming or straight up ugly, dialogue is cringey, voice acting is questionable, inventory management is ME1 bad, crafting is overly complex with numerous amount of materials to keep track of, terrible menus to navigate, and an overall jankiness feel to the game. What the game does well is a sense of exploration that goes beyond any of the original ME games, and the combat feels quite good, except for the fact that there is no power wheel option for yourself or squadmates. The game gives you 3 powers to use up front, if you want to use anything else you have to go into the skill menu and reassign powers. Did I mention that you can't choose squadmate skills to use in combat? You just point and click to tell them what to attack or where to move, quite disappointing. Overall, the game is ok and hopefully can be improved in the future on the technical side, but you can't fix flawed core design and story writing. It's a decent game, but you'd be better off replaying the original trilogy for a far grander experience.

Awesome Game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Totally in LOVE with this series! Probably would have bought this game just because of the previous series. Found the game cheaper and brought the proof, then they matched the price for me. Easy, and helpful.
