Excellent Playback, Professional-Grade, HeadphonesPosted
At age seventy-three, I consider myself a lifelong lover of all kinds of music, an audiophile. Back in the 50's I got started by building Hi Fidelity record players for family and friends. Was mesmerized by the faint glimmer of light from the vacuum tubes radiating out of the scores of ventilation holes, I drilled on the sides of my home made fabrications, to dissipate the heat. The 45's, 78's, and 33 1/3 LP's would spin while reverberating out then, the new-age music, 'Rock 'N Roll'. Those were the days - Loved every minute of it. It was during the 50's and 60's while assembling record players and sound amps for mics and speakers that I learned the 'Gold Standard' of superb audio - extraordinary sound reproduction and playback is only possible using the finest components available. Professional musicians, sound engineers, and people, who appreciate all the nuances of surround and high-octane sound agree. Today, I use a high-end A/V Receiver as the centerpiece of my home audio system. This component allows me to connect all my sound and video devices, 4K TV, smart phones, tablet, PC, Blueray player, and even older legacy devices too, like my 'old timey' record player - still love playing the vinyl. When an opportunity presented itself for me to review the Master & Dynamic, MW60 Wireless, Headphones, in exchange for a comprehensive and honest review, I was thrilled. Nothing against Bluetooth technology folks, but high-end headphones, which allow both, Bluetooth and 'wired' input, like the Master & Dynamic, MW60 is my 'Cup-Of-Tea'. When the package arrived I was immediately impressed by the great care taken to insure the headphones would NOT be damaged in shipment. The arrived in a foamed and scalloped inner enclosure, the exact shape of the headphones, inside of a heavy, outer shell box. Neatly packaged in the box was the following: the MW60 headphones, canvas carrying pouch for the headphones, canvas cord case, sturdy leather cable box, 1.25m standard audio cable (approximately 4' and 1" in length), micro USB charging cable (approximately 38" long), and a 3.5 to 6.3mm gold-plated adapter, 'Quick-Start Guide, and impressive 'User Manual', in seven different languages, that contains many helpful, graphic illustrations, and detailed operations. Just picking up the headphones in my hands I knew these were 'quality-built'. The look and feel of the materials in the design, engineering, and construction of these headphones is 'over-the-top'. My first impression was that these headphones were designed to be as professional-grade as possible. Durable stainless steel hinges and extensions for adjustment, lightweight aluminum housings for the speakers and antenna, long-lasting superior, grain leather-wrapped headband, and the luxurious, foam-wrapped, magnetized, lambskin ear pads, which can be easily removed for cleaning or entirely replaced. The total weight of the headphones is approximately three-quarters of a pound or 345 grams. Additionally, the SS hinges allow me to wear the headband either on the top of my head, or, at the back of my neck, whichever I prefer at the time. It just doesn't get any more professional then this, folks. These headphones are built to enjoy and last for many years. WooHoo! The main power controls are located on the Left-side ear pad. The ear pads are engraved on the SS hinges as to 'R', right side and 'L', left side. Since I am left-handed, the position of the main controls is ideal for me. However, it should work extremely well for either left or right handed people. The main control is a three positioned switch. The Middle position is 'ON'; the bottom, red-dot position is 'OFF', and the Bluetooth position is self-explanatory. Pairing is simple and it only took me thirty seconds to accomplish with my Bluetooth Receiver. I was also able to pair my I-Phone as the unit allows the pairing of two separate Bluetooth devices at the same time. You can simply'toggle' back and forth between the two inputs by pausing one device remotely, in order to play the other. Just above the power switch are two LED indicators, which one will glow red on low battery, orange on medium battery, and green on full battery. A fully charged battery will last approximately sixteen hours. Also on the Left side ear pad is my favorite jack, the 3.5mm, wired audio jack. This is the one I use pretty much most (all) of the time. In my humble opinion after many years of listening and appreciating great sound playback, hard-wired connections provide me with more encompassing, realistic, surround sound detail then any other link to include the greatly improved Bluetooth featured in these amazing headphones. I simply plug the 3.5mm audio jack into my A/V Receiver's corresponding outlet, which allows me inputs from seven different audio sources through the Receiver's switches in addition to digital radio and TV sound broadcasts. But, what is most important to me is the 3.5mm, wired connection provides me with impeccable, and almost flawless audio playback to these outstanding, dynamic headphones. The myriad, complexity of the detailed audio using the wired connection is so comprehensive and enveloping it completely fulfills the mission the sound engineers of Master & Dynamic set out to do with the MW60 headphones. This is why the Master & Dynamic, MW60 Headphones are so well designed and excellent. They provide you with the best of both worlds, hard-wired and Bluetooth connections. They knew people like me (and you) would enjoy these professional-grade headphones to their fullest. YooHoo! It is also noteworthy to mention that when you utilize the 3.5mm connections your headphone internal power source shuts down as the 3.5mm source provides the power and input to these fantastic headphones. Another great feature is that when your internal battery-source power is shut down, 'passive-audio-isolation-by-design' is engaged. These terrific headphones don't have 'Noise-Cancellation' electronics feature. They utilize a more user-friendly passive, noise isolation instead of electronic signal 'clutter', which you may perceive as noise cancellation. Trust me and other audiophiles, passive noise isolation is far superior to degrading, signal-manipulating, noise cancellation. Do your research. The Right side ear pad has three functional buttons. A plus and minus button for individual volume control and a multi-functional button (MFB) in the middle. Plus (+) button serves as 'forward' and Minus (-) serves as 'previous' track buttons while depressing each for two seconds. The MFB button is used to serve as a Play/Pause button, and, answer and end phone call button. Additionally, the MFB can be used to ignore a call or use your digital assistant for voice dial. On my I-Phone Siri worked well with this feature. The USB charging port is also located on the very bottom of the Right side ear pad. Any 'active' USB port will charge these headphones, however, I used my I-Phone plug and, it charged them in just over an hour. Now, regarding the sound playback. In my opinion for contemporary music, modern day, easy-listening, rhythm & blues, country, jazz, or rock, etc. the Bluetooth connection does a spectacular job. If you have a Receiver or any other kind of 'input' device that has an EQ you can pump up the bass, treble, or mid ranges, to your particular liking and this baby will take it. Even if you don't have an input access that has an EQ, the absolute crispness, clarity, and robust warmth and richness of music will convince you that these are the best headphones you can buy and will enjoy for years. These headphones come with a two year warranty, which is good at any retailer you purchase them from. If you are a music geek like I am the Master & Dynamic MW60 Wireless Headphones are the closest thing you are going to get to Professional-Grade perfection in sound playback. Using the 3.5mm audio cable takes me to another world, where realistic, lifelike sounds envelop my ears and tantalizes my listening pleasures for total and complete relaxation and gratification. Playing my vinyl records has never been more pleasurable to listen too - so realistic and true to their original recording. I love these headphones. Because of their exquisite design these headphones are super comfortable to wear and the luxurious, lambskin padding provides a soft cushion delight for your ears. If you only connect to Bluetooth you can move around within limits - over-the-ear headphones are meant for you to be quietly relaxed and emotionally tuned in to your listening venue. I wholeheartedly recommend these spectacular headphones. They would make a great gift for that special grad, special couple, Fathers' Day, Birthday, Anniversary, etc. With all my years of experience in music build, appreciation, and reproduction - Master & Dynamic MW60 Headphones are as close to flawless playback as you can get and well worth the price point.

Wireless Over-Ear Headphones with Warm, Rich SoundPosted
Recently I had a small collection of headphones. Being that I'm hard of hearing, I've always been on the lookout for a great set of sound cans. My problem is once I find a good pair I quickly learn my style of music doesn't play as well as I would like though them. I listen to all sorts of different types of music from grunge, classical, rock, hip-hop, and music scores. Being that it's such a wide variety, my headphone collection seems to keep growing. I've a pair for this and that but nothing that really takes the cake for all purposes. Master & Dynamic has been making sound devices since 2014 and they have carefully crafted some of my favorite headphones over the years. The one problem with them is that they never really put out an over-ear headphone that was wireless that I would enjoy wearing until now. The MW60 has changed that as they have some of the best, crisp sound that I've heard and they work for all music genres. I despise wired headphones as I can't seem to keep the wire out of everything I'm doing. Needless to say, I was very excited at the opportunity to check out the MW60s. At first glance, I was very impressed with the quality of the build. When you pull them from the box, you know that you're holding sophistication at its best. Being over-ear headphones, they cut out a lot of noise from the area you're in but they are by no means designed for noise canceling headphones. That's not a complaint. I just wanted anyone looking at these to know that while they isolate pretty well, they don't cancel out noise. You can still get some ambient noise bleed through, but it's not a distracting amount. Noise canceling aside, the MW60's will be my everyday headphones and have found a permanent place on my desk. With the long battery life and the superior comfort they provide, these are behind amazing for all day use. These are definitely my premium headphones that I'm proud to display when not using them. The only complaint I do have is the Canvas Headphone Pouch that comes with the MW60s. I feel that such a premium set of headphones deserves a premium case to match it. While it's very well made, I think that the canvas pouch doesn't fit the luxury of the MW60s. I would have preferred that a hard case is provided or made available as an add-on for these headphones. I had a hard time storing the headphones in the pouch without feeling as though I might damage the leather. Because I love these headphones so much I plan on picking up a hardshell case. The MW60 Wireless Over-Ear Headphones are a beautiful example of what wireless headphones should be. They are sophistication in form and function. You won't find better headphones in the same class as the MW60s.

Awesome Bluetooth HeadphonesPosted
The MW60's are super high-end headphones with fantastic sound and quite possibly the best build quality of any electronic device I've ever used. Extremely stylish over the ear headphones with a stainless steel construction, in a very cool brown leather color. Headband is made from padded leather with stainless steel components. Ear cups are made with lambskin and are very comfortable. All the components are made to fit together well and work as they should. The on-cup playback and pairing controls are easy to learn and positioned perfectly to locate them easily by touch. The headphones do collapse for storage and include a pouch but portability is not the major take away here. The MW60's are somewhat heavy and bulky and not really headphones you would want to take outside on a run or work outs. More for sitting in your house or doing things inside when you want to listen to music. That being said they are very comfortable to wear for a couple of hours at a time without becoming a distraction. Bluetooth range is fantastic. I can roam all over my house on two floors without any signal loss at all which is quite impressive. I can be sixty feet away from the source device and they work fantastic. Battery life so far is quite good, used them for over seven hours on a few different occasions and still have over 50% battery life remaining. Sound quality of the MW60's is very impressive as they should be considering the cost. Music was very good with a balanced clear sound to them, not overly bass heavy like some headphones but a good well defined sound without the highs, midrange and bass falling over each over to be heard. Movie soundtracks are really great, voices are clear and easy to understand over the rest of the soundtrack. Even used them with Xbox games and they were great. I didn't really hear much of a difference in sound quality using Bluetooth or the provided 3.5mm cable but wireless is about being free of the cables so it's not an issue for me. These headphones don't have noise cancelling technology but not a deal breaker in my opinion. All in all a fantastic pair of headphones with great build quality and really good sound. They are a bit on the heavy side for use outside or activities but for the purpose they were designed for I don't think there's a better set of over the ear headphones available right now.

Overall Good Sound, misses some key areasPosted
Summary: Good set of wireless headphones that are missing some key features. Sounds quality is somewhat variable, but plays high quality songs very well most of the time. If you play a lower quality track or maybe an old song that hasn't been remastered, you'll probably notice the loss in quality more than other models. No Noise cancelling. Quality of leather and lambskin is very top-notch. Ear cuffs feel pretty good too. However, the overall feel of the rest of the materials doesn't match the quality of the leather and lambskin. Easy to get started. Flexibility with connections, long battery life. Overall rating 3.8-4.2 out of 5. Packaging/Headphone Quality & Comfortability : The headphones come packaged with detail and care. Accessories have a separate round (and matching) leather case. The packaging definitely keeps the headphones protected. The included carrying case seems the be generic and doesn't match the headphones. Nothing special. Does not reflect the quality of the material used on the headphones themselves. Not very protective either, just something to place your headphones and some accessories in. The headphones themselves are good and bad quality at the same time. The leather and lambskin materials are very nice and feel great. I have the brown headphones and they look really nice because of those materials. You can see and feel the quality. They are also quite comfortable after long periods of use and don't make my ears overheat quickly. They do a good job at breathability. The fit is also really nice. This is obviously very user dependent but the headband is quite flexible and sturdy, so it should accommodate many people. They feel really nice on my head even after long use. This is a high point. However, I'm very disappointed in the rest of the materials. The buttons and other supporting structure don't feel high quality and almost cheap-feeling. This is really disappointing since other headphones at this price-point do a much better job, even when plastic is used. The buttons don't feel nice. The button position indicators are painted on and make this look like a cheap knock-off. I'm generally not too picky about this, but I believe this is a huge miss and some users value those details greatly. Features: Overall the features are solid. The biggest miss would be the lack of Noise-Cancelling. Depending on the person this is make or break. For me, I would prefer to have some level of noise cancelling included. I rarely listen to my headphones in a quiet environment at home, so muddling out the outside sounds would be nice. I also enjoy noise-cancelling without listening to anything, for example sleeping or reading on a noisy airplane. Fortunately, the sound level and quality is good enough to take care of this problems in many environments, but not all. For example, big city noise and airports diminish the listening quality. I enjoy the flexibility of using the Aux port if bluetooth is unavailable (or low battery). Omni-directional mic with calling function. Multi-function button is straight-forward to use, but I prefer double/triple taps for track changes, etc versus the hold for a certain time on these headphones. Also works with Siri. Simple and easy micro-USB charging. Folds and rotates for storage. Connection range and strength was excellent at home. Did not notice any problems outdoors. Sound: Definitely has a break-in period. More noticeable on this set than others. I was not too fond of these headphones initially, but they grew on me over time. The sound is clear and holds up at the highest sound levels. It must be clearly noted that the source quality effects the sound quality greatly. This is pretty obvious, but I compared the sounds on this set and another and there was a clear difference. These headphones don't handle lower quality songs as well as other sets in the same price range, especially at higher sound levels. I also found that the vocals on certain songs (this goes double for low quality songs) tends to get washed out by the instrumentals/background/beats. This was not a consistent problem but something I definitely noticed. I connected them to my TV and watch some movies and TV shows. They did a solid job and would recommend for TV/Movie use as well. Bass was pretty balanced on most-songs, and came out with a solid punch on bass-heavy tracks. I really appreciated that. The sound is good and very enjoyable at times. Closing: This is a good set of headphones with some highs and lows. At this price point, I do expect more and would definitely explore other options before settling on this particular model. I know Master and Dynamic makes some really get products, but I would not consider this one of their best. If this is your first high-end set, you'll probably be quite satisfied, but I would advise everyone to explore other headphones as well.
