Customers are saying

Customers are positive about the 4.7 Cu. Ft. Top Load Washer's cleaning performance, large capacity, quiet operation, and ease of use, with many praising the agitator and effective spin cycle. However, some customers have expressed concerns regarding the washer's reliability and the lid lock feature, citing instances of early malfunctions and inconvenience. The large tub size is also frequently mentioned as a positive. Overall, positive feedback significantly outweighs negative comments.

Cleans amazingly! My water bill has gone up slightly since I purchased and started using this machine when compared to my old machine but this one has a larger capacity and I take full advantage of all of the space. My clothes come out clean and fresh each wash. Plus the machine runs substantially quieter than my previous one.

Great machine. Really cleans the clothes. Great capacity including king size comforter. Fast and simple. This machine has an agitator. That is probably why it works so well. The new design doesn’t seem to lower the capacity. Forget LG, forget GE. Get this machine.

This washer does take a little longer to finish a load but it cleans amazing! My laundry smells great! It's extremely roomy! I love how it has a sensor for filling options instead of just wasting a bunch of water! It makes a cute sound when my load is done, its not too loud!

We went back to a top loader (from a Frigidaire front loader) because we have a small space and today's front loaders are either massive or tiny. This relatively compact machine has a large capacity, cleans well and is quiet. Controls are easy to master. Time will tell.

Bought this 15 mos. ago. Does a good job. I do relatively small loads 2-3x week of basic clothes, towels, and sheets. Nothing oversize. I use Affresh as recommended when the machine prompts that it's time to do that. There's no smell coming from inside the washer (no mold or musty odor) and the clothes look and smell clean. I use only HE approved detergent and have never used any of the dispensers (I use the packs). BUT have started to notice in the past several months a smell similar to motor oil. No burning odor and the machine runs fine from what I can tell. No oil inside, on the floor under or around the machine that I can see yet this smell is very noticeable when I walk by the machine. Any ideas what this is? I purchased a 5 year BestBuy warranty on it. Has anyone else experienced this and if so do you know what it is?

I was reluctant to buy a new washer but it was needed. After reading reviews, I opted for this unit. It is quiet, it washes clothes well, it's easy to use and holds a good size load. I've only washed large comforters in it and haven't tried large loads of laundry. No complaints.

My cousin needed a new washer. So I took her to Best Buy to pick one out. The 18 months interest free plan on my car allowed her to get something without going in debt. It took her awhile to decide. There are very few washers made today that have the center agitator. She isn't one for all the frills and was still using a washer that was as old she was. Happy to say, she loves it. The tub is larger then what she had, easy to use with lots of settings. Far more then what she was using before. Wash cycles seem to be a bit long but over all she is happy with her choice. Once she pays this off, she is going to part with her 20 year refrigerator. That should be fun.

So far we love this washer. The agitator helps get out the tough stains and the 4.7 capacity cuts down on the number of loads we have to do. Its also quiet.

Big capacity - agitator is useless

When I first got the washer a few months ago, I was thrilled to have a very large washer with an agitator. Now, I feel like I should have bought a front loader. If I leave the settings to autosense the water level, it doesn't even put in enough water to fully wet my clothes. Even if it does wet me clothes, there isn't enough water to let the clothes move freely as the agitator tries to move them. Normally I hear a higher pitched whirring sound coming from the machine and when I investigate, the agitator is spinning rapidly in the middle of my clothes without moving any of them. It is literally rubbing holes in my clothes. If I choose the deep fill option, the washer fills up with plenty of water, but then the agitator stops moving quickly like it did before and now it moves so slowly that it still doesn't move the clothes around. There is no in between settings. If it let me manually choose the water level, that would be great, but it doesn't. I am not overloading the machine by any means. I am literally washing 2 pair of jeans, 4-5 t-shirts, a few pair of socks and a few pair of underwear. I feel like my clothes aren't getting clean at all. I'm very disappointed.

I love my new Maytag washer. It is large enough to accommodate fairly large loads and it seems to perform well. It has sensors that measure the size of your load and automatically sets the water levels, which takes some of the guessing game out of operating the washer most efficiently. It can be set for almost any combination of water temperatures, soil levels, etc. The led readout tells you how much time remains throughout the cycle. And best of all, it is musical! Nice little melodic notes when setting dials and a sweet little song to let you know the cycle is finished.

Great washer, bringing it back to the old school method with the agitator. After an exploding Samsung and nervous going back to American made. This washer has not disappointed - quiet, simple functions and end result - clean clothes.

I've had this washer for less than one month but am very pleased with it! Although some reviews have said it is noisy, I do not find that to be the case. I also read that it doesn't use enough water to wet the clothes completely. It certainly uses less water than the old washers used to but it's enough to wet all of the clothes, especially if you us the "deep fill" option. I find all of my clothes have washed clean. This one has an agitator which I feel does a better job of moving the clothes within the tub than those without an agitator. Of note, if you by accident touch the on/off power button during the cycle, it will drain the water and you have to start over with the cycle from the beginning!

After using this washer for a few months, I needed to make a few adjustments. For example, when I have a small load, I add a water-soaked towel so the washer will select the "medium" water level. For medium loads, I often use the "bedding" setting as that setting I believe gives you the maximum water level. PROS: Deep Tub, Agitator. CONS: Noisy, Needs an override on the automatic water level so you can choose the desired level.

I purchased this washer about a month ago, and I really do like it. I was really wanting to purchase a whirlpool, but I couldn't find one that I liked, with an agitator and the deep fill option. So since Maytag is manufactured under by Whirlpool, I was okay with that, and it's also made in the US, so I was fine with this purchase. Soooo about the washer, first, if you are looking for a machine that will clean like your washer w/agitator from 15 plus years ago, you can give it up!!! But if you are looking for a good machine that will do a pretty darn good job for getting your clothes clean, then this is it!!! I saw several poor reviews about the amount of water the machine uses, but I'm completely satisfied with the deep fill option and I noticed that using the color setting will use an ample amount of water in the machine without having to use the deep fill option. And can I just say that I am in LOVE with the agitator, because my last machine had the pulsator (or whatever you call it), and I hated it! overall, I am thoroughly satisfied with this washer, and if you purchase, I think you will too. I took some pictures during my first time using the machine, but I inadvertency deleted, so I would show you proof of the water levels. So you'll just have to take my word for it. It's a great washer!

I wanted a top-load with an agitator. This one fits the bill. It's quiet, stays balanced, great selection of options. And best of all gets the clothes really clean. This replaces my 25 yr. old Maytag.

Have had for less than a month now but seems to clean clothes better than the Cabrio. It is High Efficiency and also as an agitator which no others have. Very easy to use. The only drawback is that it is much louder than a Cabrio and makes a lot of funny loud noises which are supposedly normal according to the manual.

Fantastic machine! Being a little old school it was nice to find a washer with a center rotator/agitator, very few machines still have one. Washes beautifully and runs so quietly.
