    Decent Machine with Caveats

This Maytag is the first washing machine we have purchased in 25 years after having an old school Kenmore that was easily repairable. We Specifically did NOT want an overly electronic washing machine with an electronic interface. We preferred the knobs because the 'push button only' washers appear to be prone to failures based on our consumer reports research. We also wanted a Top Loading Washing machine and not a front loader. We also spoke with many friend and family about their experiences with newer washing machines and discovered that there are mold and leaking issues with Front loading machines. We decided on this washing machine after purchasing the companion Dryer. We do like the Washing machine overall, however we made the mistake of not getting the detergent dispenser version, thinking that we would not miss that feature. Well we do. Trying to use the "Downey" Balls to dispense softener is a pain and not reliable, using dryer sheets is wasteful as you are throwing out little towels for each load and the 'wool balls' don't really seems up to the softening task. But live and learn. We also did not get the middle column agitator, but I'm not sure we are missing that feature. This washing machine is not as rough on clothes and we no longer have children getting dirty and needing the extra scrubbing of an agitator. A feature that we do like is the 'Water Faucet' to rinse out detergent cups or hand scrub clothes inside the machine. Initially, this machine took some learning. The biggest issue with modern manufacturers is that they do not provide clear instructions, or a physical manual (?!), on how to properly use their devices, and this was not intuitive. Maytag didn't even have online instructions, an online manual or videos on their website providing clean instructions on how to use their machines. We literally had to watch YouTube videos of random people explaining how to use our Washing machine. Just know that once you Start the machine it kind of freezes, spins, freezes, waits, spins, pause, spins, pause and then begins filling up. It's 'balancing' and testing the weight and thinking about how much water to fill it with. This is fine, but the first few times we tried to use the washing machine we thought it was broken. My biggest issue with the machine is the 'Auto' fill feature. Watch through the clear top and you will see it under fill and many of the lighter items hang out on top of the water and on top of the other clothes and don't even get washed!!! I sat and watched an entire load and a couple of pairs of underwear never got cleaned, just hung out on top of the other clothes until the spin cycle. I paused the machine and pulled out the underwear and it wasn't even WET! So we've learned to not use the auto fill as it does not fill the tub up enough to cover all of the clothes and pull them into the cleaning. This is where the agitator would have come in handy. It also takes a LOT longer to wash clothes in this washing machine than our previous machine, which is weird, but whatever. But now that we've had the machine for a year it has become routine in using it. Works fine and we've learned out to get the best out of it. If I could go back in time and speak to myself before purchasing it. I would have told myself to get the Softener dispenser and agitator.

Good Maytag Washer, but could be Better

Maytag clothes washer works well. Had it for 3 and a half months. So far so good. Ordering was quick, free delivery was fast and easy, and installed it easy. Because we've only had old washers, the energy saving features are a bit of getting used to with longer washes, way less water used (but can be changed to fill with more water), big basket to fit a lot of clothes or bed comforter, it's rougher on clothes (my socks are suddenly all getting holes and my tshirts designs are all getting worn; because of that, I'm starting to change to more delicate settings and see how that goes), and the strange pre-wash very slow rinse cycle, and during spin cycle, the washer sounds like and vibrates like its going to blast off into space. Overall, it works and I hope it lasts for years. I have to get used to using new washers. Honestly, I wish washers were more like the old ones and less like the new energy saving washers.

Maytag Top Load Washer With Slow-Close Top

A good washer for the price. I didn't want a smart washer or a lot of extra features that would probably go unused. This washer cleans very well and has a Quick Wash cycle for smaller, less soiled loads. It also has a handy Water Faucet feature that is useful for pre-treating stains. The operation is intuitive, with cycles and settings for just about anything you want to wash. I also like the slow-close glass top. This is a good washer if you don't want anything fancy and don't want to spend a lot of money. I have a family of two so I don't know how it would work for a larger family washing many loads a week. I've had the washer for almost two months and I only have three minor complaints: 1) it doesn't have a detergent dispenser - the detergent goes in the drum before the laundry. Not a big deal, I'm just used to having a dispenser; 2) it's quite loud; 3) it has become unbalanced a couple of times during a cycle and I had to pause it to redistribute the load. Overall I'm pleased with the purchase.

An Updated Classic, with plenty of cleaning power

We moved from a front loader LG (which lasted 10 years), and tried a top load Maytag. The clothes are clean, there is plenty of water, and it is easy to use. When you read a lot of reviews about "High Efficiency" top loaders you will find that they don't put enough water in to get close to cleaning the clothes. This model has water level options, including "Auto". If you have kids that play sports, this is probably a good option for you!

Love this wash, and I needed er. Our front load washer broke and we quickly needed a new one. I chose this one based on available delivery date! I love how large the drum is; no cumbersome agitator in the middle. I feel like I can comfortably do larger loads, and it cleans well.

This is a great washing machine and I'm glad that we bought it. Do not believe the other reviews you have read about this machine. It is not anymore noisy than the others. It has normal amount of noise and does an excellent job of washing our clothes. The controls and settings are easy to follow as well. I would highly recommend purchasing this machine.

I love this washer. It replaced a 21 year old Maytag. It holds so much more in the drum. I love not having an agitator. Our clothes used to get caught under the agitator and get twisted. This new washer cleans great and spins out the water so much better. I used to pour the detergent over the clothes so that is the same process. The only change is that I have to use a Downey Ball for the fabric softener which is no big deal.

I like this washer a lot. I love that I can update the water level to my liking. It is not noisy and leaves my clothes clean and smelling very nice. Since I bought this I have not had any clothing rip or take damage which was the case with my old washer. It is also very spacious and I now do less loads because of that. It also fits my queen bed blankets nicely without cramming. It does not make noise when a load is done, so you have to check it, but I'm very happy with it so far. As a plus it's also very aesthetic and the glass is really nice because you can check the water level.

Easy to use, large tub and efficient water use. Only complaint is operating noise level. Noticeably noisier than the sears front loading washer it replaced. Would have been 5 stars if it was quieter

Our Whirlpool washer broke after 10 years, so we purchased a Samsung from a different retailer, and after waiting 2 weeks for delivery, it broke the same day!! We returned that and rushed to find a reliable brand that we could pick up. Fortunately, Best Buy had a huge selection that we could pick up within a few days. (On sale too!) This Maytag was exactly what I wanted and I just found out that Maytag is part of Whirlpool, so I knew I could trust it. It's been absolutely wonderful! Very easy to use and no complicated computer parts like the Samsung has. I saw some reviews saying its loud, but I have no clue why they're saying that, because I actually think this washer is pretty quiet. I love this washer!

The washer we have had approximately a month have done numerous loads. It has wonderful features and nice to be able to fill the basket full of water so your clothes don’t rub on each other so badly and create pills and wreck your clothes. The only thing that is lacking is a dispenser for fabric softener other than that it’s perfect.
