I’ve been using McAfee for years and last year, i needed assistance from a tech support as my pc significantly slowed down. She got the job done, I didn’t even know that service came for free with my McAfee subscription.

Now I know why it was so cheap! Got home to install on my computer. Received an error code. Someone from McAfee had to call me to remote install. Wasn’t too interested after they said they needed access to my computer to install. Also, the technician we were assigned to was extremely rude and unprofessional. It was just an all around terrible experience. And contacting their customer service to explain the experience was no help either. Don’t waste your money on this product. Buy Webroot instead !! Was able to install that one to my computer without any issues.

Posted .I'm so sorry to hear you had this experience. Installs usually happen without incident. It sounds unusual when you say someone from McAfee called you though. Normally I would expect you to call them. Them calling you makes me wonder if it was really McAfee that called you. With these types of issues, I would normally direct you to our support team for help with an install, but I don't want you to go through that experience again. Our support team is contacted via the web at service.mcafee.com or via the phone at 866-622-3911. They can remotely connect to help with trouble-shooting, but you are right to be suspect of that if not from a known source. If it was McAfee, then it sounds like you are with Webroot already, so nothing I expect I can do to help at this point (although I will raise it with the support manager). But if it was someone pretending to be McAfee, you may have avoided a phishing attempt. I hope you have a good experience with Webroot and are able to keep the bad guys out.
