Going Viral
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you have a family you quickly realize that the typical five or even ten device coverage isn’t enough when everyone has a phone, tablet and laptop. With the unlimited device coverage with this software you no longer have to worry about that. Since it’s McAfee you know you are getting good anti-virus, spam and firewall software but this version goes beyond that. It offers an insight into how much your personal information has been exposed based upon the information you give it. This is when I realized an old email address of mine has gone viral being found in over 60 data breaches and some of them included sensitive information. This search result was from just inputting my email address but McAfee allows you to search on numerous things such as phone numbers, email addresses, bank accounts and many other aspects of your personal information. The software provides you with a summary of the data breach and suggestions on how to protect yourself. There is also a report that shows where your personal data is held and McAfee automatically sends request to remove it. Besides these personal security features the software includes browsing protection, parental controls and coverage for Android, Apple and Windows devices. Overall I feel confident that McAfee is actively protecting my family. All is not perfect however. When I tried to install this new version over and older version that had a month left in the subscription it would only install the old version. I had to delete the old version and then I was given the option to install the new version. Secondly the only way to install the software is by providing a credit card for auto renew which is quite expensive. Lastly McAfee provides a Security Score that for me was based more upon the personal data information versus how well the software was set up to protect my computing environment.

Lots of Great Tools that are Easy to Use.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I installed McAfee+ Advanced Family security software a few days ago and I think it’s a quality product. It’s difficult to fully judge how effective software like this is when I have no idea what threats are actually out there. Time will fully reveal how effective it is, but I like what I am seeing so far. I have used both McAfee and Norton antivirus programs in the past so I have some experience with those sorts of programs but this one is a bit more comprehensive. Installation was very easy and the home page UI is intuitive and easy to navigate. As far as using the software I haven’t noticed any background issues. I know that was an issue years ago with a lot of antivirus stuff where the background processes were so intense it would result in a noticeably slower computer. No such issues here at all. First thing I did was run a full virus scan. Every file inspected, no viruses detected, so that was a good start. Now I started using features I had never used before. When I opened the Identity Monitoring feature if found a total of 44 instances of breaches with my data! Some of these were a bit comical to me. My info was found on a German Football League site that had a data breach in 2016. I have no idea what my info was doing there in the first place. Most of the breaches were older gaming related sites that all used old passwords with no sensitive data that I cared about. However there was one from 2021 (reported March this year, thanks for that delay) that says among other pieces of info, my SSN was stolen. The software gives a variety of suggestions to deal with this and I am going to try and take some steps this week to deal with this discovery. Can’t say this made me happy, but it is good to know so I can take steps to protect myself. After taking a day to get over the frustration of knowing my SSN had been compromised I went on to other features. There is an online account cleanup feature that discovered I had 166 online accounts. There were a lot on that list that I had completely forgotten about. Most of the financial accounts I had I already regularly update my passwords on. But this scan revealed a ton of old accounts I had forgotten about that. Some of these feel like data breaches just waiting to happen so I started the process to get my accounts deleted. So far just one completed, but it’s a start! From here I went onto Credit Monitoring. I really liked having such an easy to use tool at my disposal. I found 2 open cards that I thought were closed and have since closed them. My credit score has been rather good for a while now but when I was younger I really would have loved to have had this software to help me build that credit score in the first place. Next was another feature I have used before and appreciated, the WebAdvisor browser extension. A simply tool to alert you if you have gone to a likely scam site of some sort. I remember in the past this helped me realize I was trying to buy something on a site I went to from an ad (dangerous, I know) on social media. I thought it was a well known major brand but it sent me to a site that was just slightly misspelled. This software also offers a vpn and parental controls. You can also use this on multiple devices. I haven’t tried this yet as I only use my PC for anything financial or otherwise sensitive. But I will still install it just to be safe, I still use my email on there. At the end of the day, I think everyone should have some sort of software like this. There are shady sites and unscrupulous people all over the internet. I think it just makes good sense to use a vpn at a bare minimum. But these other features I found to be worth the price and effort to use. The world is rapidly changing and there is a constant race between keeping our data secure and those who try and hack it. Tools like this may not protect me from every threat out there, but I do feel like I have already gotten a lot of benefit from just these first few days and I’ll feel a little bit better about protecting my data going forward. I rate this software a solid 5 stars and I would absolutely recommend it to a friend.

An Umbrella of Protection
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The McAfee+ Advanced Family Protection is a big as it gets in the cybersecurity and below are my thoughts. [PROS] Retrieved Breaches: A shining moment in my use of the McAfee services is that it managed to find several dozen breaches of my information dating back to college. Fortunately, much of my info had changed, but it still provided insight what specifically was compromised. Adequate Software Solutions: I've been really satisfied with the device protection as well as benefits such as VPN and password manager. Despite having to install additional items, it didn't disrupt my day-to-day flow of browsing the web and using programs through my computer, tablet, or phone once I've tweaked some settings. Setup for each feature was intuitive and easy to understand. What's even greater is that I was able to apply these features to an unlimited devices in my household. [CONS] Account Cleanup Not Useful: So this feature is designed highlight different websites that are associated with your email. For starters, you can only use one email and cannot change it later. When the scan was done, it highlighted several mainstream websites for removal that were deemed high risk. Despite this recommendation, I'm unable to do so given that these websites are essential for my weekly, almost day-to-day life. Personal Data Cleanup is Limited: This was the feature that I was most excited for. Similar to account cleanup, limitations exist with how much information they will query. For example, you are only allowed 3 addresses that you can lookup. Also, there's not a way to add a lookup for others such as your spouse. This really takes away from the "Family" element. Lastly, my next query won't be available until September which is a long time to wait. It did manage to find some personal info on websites for removal, but I did which for this feature to be more robust. [CONCLUSION] The McAfee+ Advanced Family is a feature rich service that is held back my limitations here and there. I find complete satisfaction from the software side of things, but find that the online monitoring portion can be frustrating at times. Regardless, it's still an essential suite that I'm glad to have a subscription for.

Great Protection
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received the McAfee - McAfee+ Advanced Family ID Theft Coverage & Internet Security Software (Unlimited Devices) (1-Year Subscription) - Android, Apple iOS, Chrome, Mac OS, Windows [Digital]. McAfee+ Advanced Family offers far more than just antivirus and malware protection. There’s a whole suite of tools that can help you to keep your computer protected but also aims to protect your data outside of your computer too. Scanning for viruses is a fully automated operation running in the background, which will scan new files you download or existing files as you open and run them. You can also do a full scan whenever you wish. It comes with Personal Data Cleanup. You enter your personal details, and these are checked against known data broker sites. The search takes in 40 of the sites that have been deemed ‘most threatening’ and will return any results that match your information. Also has Online Account Cleanup tool, which is a helpful resource for securing your data by identifying accounts linked to your email address that may pose a risk. At the moment, it only works with Outlook addresses. Another nice feature is that it comes with its own VPN. This is based on the popular TunnelBear VPN. It allows you to encrypt your internet connection and hide your IP address to keep your online activity private and secure. You can have up to five devices connected through the VPN at once. ID monitoring helps safeguard your personal information, online accounts, and credit report details. It alerts you if your data has been part of a breach, allowing you to change passwords or cancel accounts before extensive damage occurs. Additionally, it enables you to monitor changes to your credit report and score, ensuring you stay informed about your financial standing. McAfee+ Advanced also includes a tracker remover. This can automatically remove files such as cookies, browsing history, temporary files, recycle bin, Windows history, and more. You can set a schedule for these files to be removed. Overall, it covers a comprehensive suite of protection tools, such as a VPN, ID protection services, $1 million identity theft coverage, and the Virus Protection Pledge. It is a solid option for complete protection for your computing, online, and personal finance needs.

Technically, no you don't need them. But they're highly recommended - just like even the most cautious driver can have an accident (and so should have car insurance), even the most careful computer user can stumble upon a virus, malware or fall prey to identity theft. Think of having this McAfee+ Advanced Family just like having insurance for your digital persona and life. This is a subscription based product that gives you one year of the full McAfee suite of security products for both you and your family. Of course you get their antivirus - McAfee has been in the field a long time and knows how to make not only a highly effective antivirus scanner but also one that does its job without impacting the performance of your system. You also get their VPN which is great for protecting your internet traffic on the go, identity monitoring and theft insurance and their personal data cleanup that makes sure you aren't leaking data everywhere. All these tools sit there in the background, protecting you passively - or actively if you want to manually trigger the scans. So if you want a complete and easy to use solution to protect you - on any platform, including Windows, MacOS, ChromeOS and popular mobile platforms - this McAfee+ subscription is just what you're looking for. Nice Features All Wrapped Up Into One Program
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One of the reasons why we buy and use McAfee+ is the virus protection, that is what they started as and are one of the top in the world. Now that they have grown into a large protection company, the Virus protection is just the start. Now, with the features added to the Advanced Family protection, the favorite part is the included VPN that can be toggled on. I find myself using the VPN for purchases every time for an extra layer of protection. I have had my card number stolen multiple times so I am hoping this gives me a better chance. The virus scanning is great, my pc is not slowed down at all while it is running a scan, I can still work as normal or game without decrease in performance, McAfee+ is very light on your CPU. I have also tested the new Ai scam protection, I wrote to myself with a new email address from Yahoo and wrote it with very bad intention to steal money and posted a link to a dark web site. McAfee+ worked, it caught the obvious scam and warned me immediately, how cool is that?!? I also found the scam protection works on my Samsung Android phone, it absolutely blocks the messages that come from non stop spam and scam texts, I did not win a free cookware set. I am still monitoring other features like the Personal Data Cleanup that monitors data brokerage sites that sell your info. It did find one site but not a ton. I was able to send a request to have my data deleted, I have not got a response back from the website but has only been 4 days. I am also using the identity monitoring, I have not received any bad hits yet, so I hope that is a great thing and it is just that it does not work, so I can not say if that feature work but it should be. The family subscription is great, we have 6 people in our family and we are all covered, phones, tablets, and PCs. So Far, McAfee+ is doing great for us in 2024.

Reasonable protection although not truly family
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently migrated to McAfee from a competing product. I found the install to complete smoothly, but it doesn’t include all of the features. Things like Web browsing protection, Secure VPN, email scam protection, Parental controls, must be downloaded and installed separately. PC Optimizer is an additional purchase. I would have preferred that the install prompted which features I wanted, then perform the install. Following the install, I set up Identity and credit monitoring. Here’s where family generally means 1 person. As an example, Identity monitoring includes 1 SSN, yet includes 2 passports, drivers licenses and health ID cards. Credit monitoring is one person. You can install the antivirus protection on unlimited devices such as PC’s, tablets, and phones. Next step was opening your protection center. Here it reported that I hadn’t installed it on any device, yet it was installed on that computer. Clicking on the install prompt confirmed that I had the latest version installed. It never did update the device count in the dashboard. I then installed the Web browsing extension, and found it works, although it seems aggressive in identifying issues. A known trusted site came up as suspicious, which under my previous protection, was not an issue. It's the lack of completeness that leads me to doubt how advanced the product is. A novice would find it cumbersome and not intuitive. It does include ID theft coverage & restoration, and Personal Data Cleanup which did help remove data from multiple data brokers. Overall, it offers good protection, but not complete for my family.

A holistic digital security for the entire house
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been using McAfee for several years and I am firmly convinced about their technical capacities and the simplicity of the software. Installing my new McAfee version that offers protection for all devices at home was a step forward. Installing the software could be a first step. In this area, and because I have the McAfee app on my current laptop, I started by installing it on my phone to simulate brand-new/first-time installation. Three (good) experiences. .- In my first-time device (android phone), installation is very simple, after downloading the app and creating your profile directly on McAfee web (note here that my profile existed already), you just need to launch the app. Saying that this is a simple process needs to be reiterated if you are scared of software. Options and menus are super-intuitive and self-explanatory, great for new users. Launching the first scan is as obvious and simple as a click. My second option, considering that this is a protection for ALL devices at home was ready to be tested. This was selecting the “Protect more devices options”, this will send a link to protect other devices at home. Again all types of options to share links or a Q-bar code with your wife and kids at home, by phone, email, or instant messaging are available. .- After receiving the link, other first-time installations are even faster than the first one. Easy setup (this includes an IO device) and the system is already aware that those are installs from the same account. In each download, the landing page recognizes the version to download: windows or Android. As I said, very simple. .- Installing the software in a device (my Windows laptop) that already had the app, surprisingly has given me the costiest process (from a time perspective). This seems to be a recurrent issue because the same happened to me in my last McAfee purchase a couple of years ago. In fact, the app recognizes my account and services but seems to not work properly. The easiest solution is to erase the previous version app and install it again. All good. After installation, “playing around with the antivirus for a few days” to see how differential the features could make this a better option than other software, you have a myriad of advantages: .- Unlimited use of licenses for all types of platforms at home. A huge deal for a family of four with so many phones, tablets, and laptops. .- Please note that this is a very holistic approach for cybercrimes not just viruses. The protection to your device is extended while browsing the different web pages and sites you visit independently of your web browser. Credit monitoring, personal data cleanup, and the most attractive ID theft coverage are adding a piece of mind to all your digital transactions. At this level, my main reflection is that to enjoy all those features and to obtain serious monitoring, you need to share more personal data than in other software which could include SSN, name, address, and DoB that you will need to trust your provider from being hacked, and McAfee is a good partner for that type of relation. On the positive side for controlling your charges, no need to enter the information of your credit card for automatic license renewal. You could do it but this is not compulsory like in other software. .- I absolutely LOVE the option that you can request the app to run maintenance and updates while the PC is idle. .- An additional aspect that is also included with this license: is the VPN functionality for all the devices. Yes, I recommend thanks to its simplicity, the trust in the programmer, the VPN license, and the ID theft coverage.

Cheaper Is NOT always better!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had (and have been) an avid user of McAfee, and I wrote that to say this, at the first of this year I decided to drop McAfee Advanced and go w/ a newer, cheaper protection. At first everything went smoothly and I was very happy w/ the service. BUT! I began to notice that I was having trouble w/ logging on and not being able to view our home security cameras while we were away. And then I wasn’t getting the coverage that I was getting w/ McAfee. Once I re-installed McAfee Advanced and downloaded the App (again) I was “glad to be home”! The short time I had gone away from McAfee protection and seeing the NEW changes on the App, I soon learned this, “CHEAPER IS NOT BETTER!” McAfee is so reliable, so easy to use, so advanced over the competition that the few dollars I saved were not worth the headache. And once I began to run all the scans (and I still have more to do) I really noticed that the “protection” I thought I was receiving was nowhere near what McAfee Advance Family gave me. First and foremost is the fact that McAfee Advanced Family offers Unlimited Device protection which means I don’t have to worry do I put it on this device or on this one, that in and of itself is worth the extra money. The McAfee App is so easy to use, our family loves the simplicity of downloading and using the App. But the one thing I love the most, is knowing beyond a shadow of a doubt that my network is secure, our data is more secure, and the knowledge of that is far worth the money! THANK YOU McAfee! If you are in need of a very reliable and trustworthy internet and ID protection, I highly recommend McAfee Advanced Family plan.

Fast and thorough!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I've been using the same software for virus protection for a while. Decided to go back to McAfee off of a friends recommendation. I will say it was a little of a pain to set up. You have to subscribe which is normal. Then it said download to get access to your protection, except there was no where to click to do the download. I noticed I was getting several emails from McAfee, I read those and finished the installation through the links in the emails...not sure why it wouldn't just download. After the download, it is a very simple and straight forward protection. As soon as you sign in, it gives you the option to scan for breaches in the dark web. It found 3 for me…granted I had already known about them and they were from a few years ago, but it was still very fast and accurate. The actual virus scan on my 2T laptop took less than 5 minutes with a ton of programs and software suits. I’m on the web all the time for business so the protection is something I needed. The first tab is to check your protection which takes you to a different website that shows you everything related to the software. It’s pretty simple to navigate. Only had it a few days, but so far I’m pretty happy with it. I’m not a programmer or a coder so I can’t tell you internal numbers and stats, but I can’t tell you that the software does what it’s supposed to do and it’s priced competitively with other major brands. Pros • Fast • Thorough • Dark Wed Detection • Unobtrusive Cons • Weird set (works just multiple steps) • Everything redirects to a webpage (not a big deal just expected PC dashboard to be more internal)

A Thorough and Complete Mobile Security Solution
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I suppose that writing a review of a software security solution might be one of the more challenging tasks to undertake. It's not like all or any of my devices were infected with a software virus for the McAfee Suite to heroically cleanse away once installed. Neither was I going to intentionally introduce a software virus to any of my devices just so that same suite could heroically cure it. Nevertheless, none of my household devices contracted any virus or malware after the McAfee Security Suite Advanced Family software was installed. We have around 8 devices comprised of a mix of Android, Apple, and Windows. Linux does not seem to be covered. However, on those devices which are covered they are quite thoroughly and completely covered. Those devices are regularly scanned for viruses, malware and the like and the database of infections is updated regularly as well. User identity is also covered. When I provided my personal identifying info, email accounts, and social platforms, the McAfee Suite went to work to find whether I was associated with any data breaches (I was) and recommended any required action then explored the settings on my social platforms and offered settings changes to improve privacy and security. The McAfee+ Advanced Family Suite is easy to install and use. I did encounter an issue while trying to install it on my second Android device, but a quick response from a McAfee tech support agent got me straightened out. Amazing - a technical support contact that actually resolved a problem - I was truly impressed. I highly recommend this product and the McAfee company.

Total Protection for All All My Devices!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've previously had mcafee as a trial and I had it through my internet provider. The mcafee I previously had was not like this one; this one I find it's much better! This mcafee+ advanced family has protection for unlimited devices; unlike the one I had which was limited to 20 devices. In my household we have a lot of devices that need protection such as: laptops, tablets and phones. I really like how for each of my family members the protection can be personalized. I was really happy to see that this mcafee+ advanced family has full service personal data clean up. The personal data clean up tells me where and what personal information is out there; it honestly really does clean up my information. It tells you that your information is being removed and the time frame of which it will be removed. Which is such a relief to have my personal information removed from places that have my information without my consent. The antivirus, AI scam protection and VPN are very secured! When we have the VPN on all of our devices; I find it that my family feels super safe while being online shopping, streaming and gaming. Overall, this 1 year subscription for mcafee+ advanced family has all of the security my family needs to have on all of our devices. This subscription is well worth getting; it provides peace of mind while being online with any device. I would definitely recommend it to anyone and I would purchase it again and again.

Great AntiVirus
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I always feel safe using McAfee. One of the best futures with this is that it supports unlimited devices. My last subscription expired, and I got a code for a new subscription. The only complaint I have with this was that after putting in the code, it added the new subscription to my account but it kept trying to sell me a new subscription because it kept the expired subscription instead of transferring to the new subscription. I had to go and manage my subscriptions and select the new one. I feel this should have been something that was automatic. That said, it has plenty of futures that you can use ranging from antivirus that protects you as well as you can run scans, secure VPN, tracker remover, personal data cleanup. I mainly use the antivirus and scan my pc couple times a week. The VPN future is nice and has a few options that you can use. Like, only use it if you are using WiFi, or you can use it all the time. Have internet get paused if VPN connection gets disrupted. It also has a protection score that will go thru some security issues and find out what weakness you may have and what you should do to fix. Overall, it's another antivirus that I like to use and recommend.

Comprehensive protection for family all devices
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been a long-time user of McAfee products, so I was eager to try out the McAfee+ advanced family subscription on all our family's devices, including kids' mobiles and tablets. Here are my thoughts after using it for a week: Pros: Easy setup and automated protection: Setting up the software was straightforward, and the automated protection features work seamlessly in the background. The protection score is a nice touch, providing clear steps to enhance your online security. Unlimited devices: One of the standout features of this subscription is the ability to protect unlimited devices. This is incredibly convenient for a household like mine with over 13 gadgets. Everyone in my family feels secure, knowing that all our devices are protected under one plan. All-in-One protection: This subscription offers a wide range of protection services, including antivirus, VPN, identity monitoring, and a password manager. It's reassuring to have a single solution that covers all aspects of online security and privacy. Online account cleanup: This feature impressed me by finding a surprising number of active accounts linked to my email. It even flagged accounts I had forgotten about, helping me streamline my online presence. However, it only supported one email account, which was a bit limiting. Identity theft coverage: Thankfully, I haven't had to use this feature yet, but it's comforting to know it's there. Cons: Limited account support for cleanup: The online account cleanup feature only supports one email account, which can be limiting for users with multiple email addresses. Personal data cleanup: This feature didn't find any exposed personal information during my scan. However, it only scans quarterly, which might be infrequent for some users. Conditional virus removal: The virus removal feature is only available if you enable auto-renewal. This feels a bit like a forced upsell, which isn't ideal. Overall, this family subscription from McAfee is a robust and comprehensive security solution. I recommend it to anyone seeking thorough internet security and identity protection.

McAfee - Advanced Family ID Theft & Internet
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have installed this on my Windows 11 and my MacBook. Easy to set up and ready in minutes. Scans are quick and efficient and works as expected. McAfee wins again as a great software to protect you and your computer. Identity Theft helps to bring attention of Subscription services you may not be aware. Also it searches the dark web to bring your results which are out for anyone to find and use if they so choose. This software can be configured to close accounts if you choose and also rates the risk for different sites and online businesses you. may be using which may need some additional protections such as second authentications from an app or phone sms text code. You can use the reports to help lower your risk and save you some money as well. The options in the setup are numerous, You can choose how much or how little you want to use the various features. Also you can configure how often and when to scan the drives fully. Unlimited devices is awesome for households with multiple devices which need protected. Also the McAfee VPN is a really good fit as well and takes seconds to setup.

|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It was very easy to setup and use across a few of my devices. I have it on my phone and laptop and so far it has been glitch free and running smooth. SCANS WEB FOR YOUR INFO It has a feature that looks for your information which is linked to any unused accounts. It also scans for any compromised passwordsthat may be floating on the web. It has not found any unused acounts linked to me as im pretty good about closing accounts that i dont use. It dod however fond a few of my passwords on the internet and i have since changed them and it is peace of mind ESPECIALLY NOWADAYS WITH ALL THESE COMPANIES EXPERIENCING DATA BREACHES WITHOUT TELLING THE PUBLIC. VPN I do enjoy the VPN feature, i use it when im using unsecure WIFI in hotels or coffee shops. It does slow down my internet speeds slightly but not signifocant. The VPN is a must when im purchasing any items or booking flights and entering sensitive information. OVERALL Easy to install on multiple devices and easy to use. Great software.

McAfee is a great Online Protection brand
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.McAfee is a service provider that I often use for Antivirus and Protection needs because I love that they let me have unlimited devices (so I can protect my devices and other devices in my household). They're a brand name that I have been using since the early 1990s, including in the government offices I worked in in the mid-1990s. The McAfee Advanced Family subscription used the same software as my previous McAfee Live Safe subscription, as well as from a subscription powered by T-Mobile (essentially, I have 3 active subscriptions to this software, all with slightly different offerings). However, to enable the features of this subscription, I needed to specifically select this as my active subscription. The first new and different feature that caught my attention was the Online Account Clean-up feature. Unfortunately, it looked like it only supported one account (I have subscriptions under both my Microsoft and Google e-mail accounts, and possibly others). Still, it found a surprisingly large number of active accounts from just one e-mail address. I was a little surprised it suggested that I close my "IEEE" account as they are "high risk." I don't think I'm going to do that, but I might make sure I use a unique password just for that site. The social privacy manager installed a Chrome extension to make suggestions on making my social media more private. Note that if you follow all of its recommendations, you may find your account is not easily locatable by others, or they may not be able to interact with your account, which you may not want. Ah, new to this version of the social privacy manager (Since the last time I tried it) is an ability to set the type of user you are and if you're currently more social, you can enable that in settings, and if you decide you just want to explore and be less social you can switch to that. This is an upgrade from the previous version of this privacy feature I tried. For YouTube it recommended disallowing it from using my watch history to give me more relevant recommendations, and to me it seems whether I have that on or off I'm not really happy with either settings (if I turn it off, it's totally irrelevant, if I turn it on I can't discover anything new outside of the bubble it puts me in). For google it recommended turning off ad personalization features, but I like personalized ads. It also recommended turning off settings like location history, but as a user of google maps I like that feature. These are just examples of the suggestions (or kind of suggestions) that it made. It also includes a VPN, but whether or not that is more secure depends on whether you trust your internet provider more or McAfee. Either way, one of them will get copies of your internet traffic whether or not they would have any reason to use them. In the end, VPN traffic can be traced back to you, it just takes longer (middle man). VPNs tend to be less convenient to use, for example I once visited BestBuy.com through a VPN and it had my local store set to a store somewhere far away. Also, some services, including some banking services, will refuse to run via VPN so you'll find yourself toggling it off and on frequently. As per "Personal Data Cleanup", it didn't find anything when I tried it. It said the next scan is September 15th (or I guess, once per quarter). I have been pretty good with keeping my personal info off the web (Thanks in part to prior McAfee usage), considering I've been on the internet since 1992, there's relatively little private information exposed because I've tried to keep on top of it. They claimed if I set up auto renewal (and ONLY if I set up auto renewal) I would get a feature called "Virus Removal." I turned it on for now, but I suppose if you don't do that it just tells you that you have a virus but does not do anything to get rid of it. If you don't already have a McAfee subscription, this is a good one to get. As per whether it's worth having if you have an existing subscription, I would look into the differences between the versions to see if this version is right for you and worth an upgrade to. I generally trust McAfee and recommend it to family.

Good for Data Broker Monitoring, Antivirus Great.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a bit more of an unusual review, as I can't say "what's in the box" as with McAfee Advanced Family it is literally an activation code. What I can say is it's relatively straight forward to register, enter the code, an email you want to use for the account, do some basic registration and you will have a McAfee Advanced Family online account. The next steps require a bit more work as to get the full value of McAfee Advanced Family you need to start connecting accounts, your primary email, social media, etc. so that McAfee Advanced Family can start doing the extra steps necessary to keep you safe (adjust privacy settings, etc). This is where I ran into gaps between the promise of "privacy" vs the recommendations McAfee Advanced Family made to me. For example, on Instagram it wanted me to "turn on let others share your story in messages" and to let accounts I follow to message me and see my status" which is the opposite of what I would call a smart, privacy first strategy. I couldn't get the x/Twitter integration to work (but honestly, that's probably 100% x's fault). For Linked In, McAfee Advanced Family also made some odd recommendations - like seeming to encourage me to turn on that I was open to a new job (ahem, no!) or turning on personalized advertising (ahem, no!). But what's weird, for me they are off and if I tested and tried to turn them on it would say "not recommended". It's a very confusing UI because it McAfee doesn't seem to know that you already have the right setting and other times it recommends bad choices (like it's recommended that you let Linked In personalize ads to you based on your connections). McAfee really need to fix this so that it doesn't suggest less privacy friendly choices. Some of the other "features" are just links to 3rd party sites. Like Credit Freezes just direct you to the various credit bureau forms. I get that McAfee may be restricted in what it can automate here, but you can do all of this yourself without buying McAfee. Probably the biggest feature and promise of online data cleanup from all of those online people finder websites. There are some limits, like you can only have two names and it's not clear if McAfee will scan for various of a name (known short versions of your name) And there's no in-app or website help that describes what rule set it uses - although online, I found it scans every 3 months, which feels like an unfortunate limitation and means your data would be out there for enough time for scammers to harvest and inundate you with spam. As for the antivirus and other features. The next step is to download the right software for your device and put it to work. I found this experience better than anticipate and also discovered that on iOS (as an example) you can use McAfee as the tool to filter unknown and spam texts - which I have turned on but haven't had any spam messages in the past few days to know if this is effective. Or maybe it's super effective and I'm not seeing spam messages as a result? When it comes to the antivirus. There's less I can comment on here. The unlimited licenses are great, I don't really download anything other than from the App Stores, Steam, EPIC, etc. so no viruses were found and I expect my risk exposure is low. But I do appreciate that we're now in era where there is no excuse to install McAfee on every phone, tablet, computer, laptop in your house. My final thoughts after playing with for several days is McAfee Advanced Family has promise but there's enough gaps to warrant 3 stores. The integrations with 3rd party apps to audit safety controls needs some work; there's no parental control or family setting so I can't force it to limit or set controls for other members of the household (sort of here's the policy for my kids, my parents, etc). This makes McAfee Advanced Family fall short of being great for families and simply just good - Snap, TikTok, and other apps now have better family policy controls. Sure they're often hard to find, but I would expect a "family" security solution to help manage this and at least be aware that these are options. This doesn't mean I don't recommend McAfee Advanced Family, there are a lot of people who this software is exactly what they need but if you're an advanced user who knows a bit more about privacy, personal data protection, this may not be the right software for you but definitely buy it for your parents.

If It Works As Advertised But Hope I Dont Find Out
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.OK, product like this McAfee+ Advanced Family ID Theft Coverage & Internet Security Software are always difficult to review. The fact that they are, by design to be most effective after saomething really bad happens, like identity theft. Hopefully I'll never have to discover the effecacy. That said, I'll address "so for" user experience and what the product should do: The Good: * Personal information protection on multiple devices for the entire family * 24/7/365 data monitoring * Up to $1-million in lost assets and expenses * Monitor of personal information that may be in "stale" accounts Some bonuses (may be more or less useful for each individual): * Parental controls * Included VPN As mentioned, these items are not for everyone. I will not be using them bacuase I alread have a trusted VPN, and my kids are of age and have their online life to a point where they don't need monitoring. But for some, these may be useful tools. The bad: * During install, there were several "upsells" * On initial use, again several upsells This really irritates me. I have always been the type of person who I don't mind buying, but I HATE being sold to. I have told car dealers my entire life that exact same thing. I know what I want, I know what I don't. Don't try to sell me more. Instead, If you want me to have a positive, offer these as bonuses. Instead, that upsell is what led to 3 stars. End of the day, I amd confident this will be a usefull product, albeit with some unnecassary (at least for me) bloat. Hopefully I'll never need to know.

Powerful protection for all of your devices
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There are so many potential threats for everyone who accesses websites, ranging from simple web browsing to every day email access. Scammers are everywhere and protection for your personal computers to personal devices to cell phones is a must. A program like McAfee Advanced family was designed to give you complete protection for everything you use to access the web. It provides protection against viruses as well as those annoying web trackers. It took approximately 45 monitors to scan my laptop with a 1 terabyte drive with about 50% of it utilized with common productivity applications. I used the fast scanning option, but be aware that this is very resource intensive and used a lot of my system resources including battery life. There are options to use less resources. I was taken back by how many tracking resources this scan cleaned up. I was free from virus issues, but I had a considerable number of web tracking issues. This handled it easily and was able to easily clean up my problems. I am also using the product to protect my iPhone. It’s so handy having one product to handle my mobile monitoring as well. One feature that really has my interest is the password manager add on for my web browser. I have so many passwords and this feature will be great to have. This is a great application for handling all of your computing platforms
