MediaSonic / Homeworx Over the Air Digital Video Recorder / Full HD 1080P / Model HW-150VR. This comes with Red, White, and Yellow RCA pin type cord. I'm using this with a Samsung TV 60" Model UN60JU7090FXZA, 4K, 4K upconvert, 3D Ready, Digital TV. I received this for Christmas 2018. It was on sale for $29.99. I have an outside over the air antenna rated with a range of 60 miles. So it's coaxial cable from antenna to a signal splitter. Two coaxial cables from the signal splitter, one to TV and one to MediaSonic. I had to buy a HDMI cable ($6.99 Best Buy 6' 4K Ultra HD HDMI Cable) which attaches to the back of the Mediasonic to TV HDMI In. So you will may NEED Coaxial Cable(s) and or HDMI Cable, and a Jump / Thumb Drive or External Hard Drive. I had a 64 GB Jump Drive. I LOVE this DVR. It's a little quirky, but for $30 it's well worth it. The TV Guide comes from the broadcasting station. So you may get a tv listing for one day or none at all. If it's on your guide, you just press EPG on remote, go up and down the tv guide and highlight the program you wish to record then press OK, then OK again to confirm your recording. If it's not on your tv guide, press Timer, 1 (add event), select channel, date, start and end time, then OK. To play recording press Menu, scroll right to USB, arrow down to Multimedia, Ok, scroll right to PVR, press OK, press OK on HBPVR folder, scroll up and down to select recorded program and press OK to select, press OK StartResume (this is a popup menu that I alway over look), press HOLD for full screen. It has fast forward and reverse to run through commercials. To stop watching your recording, press EXIT (you have to press Exit 3 times to get back to the beginning.) NOTE SOUND = If the sound seems low you will need to raise the volume on the MediaSonic Remote then raise or lower the volume on your TV Remote or Sound Remote. I know it sound like allot, but all of the instructions are on the screen. I've been recording The Big Bang Theory and the HD picture is fantastic...!!! I bought a 2nd one for $29.99 for a spare or present. That's it. I hope this helps some one..!

    Good basic OTA box

This is a very basic OTA (over the air) box. It says "with DVR", but that is only after you add a storage device. We added a 1TB hard-drive which added about $90 to the total cost. Although there is an electronic program guide to help identify shows, when you record it only shows the station and date of the recording (no program/show name when looking at the recordings for playback). The remote control works, but it's layout is an absolute joke. For example, the "play" and "pause" buttons are just that - round buttons in a field of 12 buttons, not even next to each other. It's hard to find when compared to the triangle button found on most remote controls. Now for the positives. It works as advertised. The lack of a fancy electronic guide can be a plus or minus - just that; plus because there's no added subscription cost and minus because a guide would make it easier to find programs several days in advance. We have weak internet and this only OTA box I found that does not feed the recordings back to your TV through WiFi. It uses a HDMI cable. This will also enable us to use it in our travel trailer (since most RV parks have bad WiFi). If they fixed the remote control I would give it 5 stars.

At first I bought the Aluratek and tried it out but began having the same issues as the previous reviewer, the unit kept rebooting itself so I returned it and bought the MediaSonic. The MediaSonic unit works great, I plugged in a 32 GB flash drive and set a schedule and BOOM my shows get recorded every time like clock work! I really like the parental control function for my kids. One thing I really like is being able to plug the flash drive with the recorded content into my computer, copying the content over and then watching it on the plane. Makes it easy to catchup on my shows. Did I mention the DVR capabilities are free and there aren’t any subscriptions like most of the big players have?

This unit is AWESOME. Here is why I bought it. I wanted a cheap way to record NFL football games and TV shows so I could watch and fast forward through the commercials later. At $49.99 how could you beat it. I wanted to be able to take my recordings with me, which I can do by recording on either a Flash Drive or portable hard drive and then plugging them into my computer or another TV. I wanted to be able to rewind TV, which I can do with this unit by just recording what I am watching and then pausing, and rewinding as necessary. Also functions as a converter box though I didn’t need that as I have a newer TV. Great product at a great price. Highly recommended.

Well...it records the shows I want. Bottom Line: If you enjoy trying to figure things out yourself, this is the box for you! The instructions...well, Google HW-150PVR Manual and see for yourself. The interface is less than intuitive, but you can figure it out. You'll need two AAA batteries, a thumb drive or some external hard drive, and a coaxial cable. Overall, it is one of the lower-priced options on the market, so you get what you pay for.

The tuner does a nice job for the price. Remote is poorly designed, but works with my Harmony 700 remote, which is designed well. Tuner can only handle one task at a time due to being a single tuner, but antenna signal can be set to pass through, allowing you to use your TV tuner to watch a different channel while the Mediasonic is recording something else. The Mediasonic’s ability to pause live TV is also a great feature.

works as advertised, has HDMI, RCA and antenna jacks so connects to almost any device. Note that should be careful if changing filenames on the computer because can be multiple files generated for one tv show. Make sure new file prefixes match, and the the new file extensions exactly match the old ones..I suggest you keep copy of original files until you get the hang of how exactly to change filenames and know that they work on both the DVR and the computer.

When my cable co went all digital, an old analog TV became unusable even for local TV stations. So this converter did the trick to give an obsolete TV a little more life in my basement workshop. The converter was easy to set up and worked well with an old rabbit ear antenna that I had laying around. A good solution for my needs.

Quick install, just plugged it in and let it scan the stations. I'm using the basic install, just an antennae plus the video/audio connections. I haven't installed the external hard drive for the DVR function yet. Audio seems to be a little off sync sometimes, but not bad. I like the channel preview feature.

Really can't complain about this DVR for the price. It records to an external hard drive very well. There are a couple of drawbacks though, once you pause a movie on live tv and start replaying it if you reach the live version of the movie it won't back up and the remote isn't laid out very well.

I bought this as a gift. The recipient was very happy to receive it. This is a subscription free DVR, which I could not find prior to this product. The only "but" on the good review is that you have to buy external memory. It does not come with internal memory.

it will pick up a weak signal that some hdtv's cannot handle. i can record the program on this unit or watch it on the hdmi port of my tv. if in standby mode it will still allow you to watch your tv on the selected channel.

When I connected this converter box to my LG model 32LC5DC TV, The TV immediately stopped working. I cannot turn TV on now even when converter box is not connected. BEWARE OF INCOMPATIBILITY PROBLEMS WITH THIS DEVICE.

My tv picks up 18 over the air channels but this product only picks up 6 stations. Very disappointed in this but otherwise the product works fine.
