The Quest 3, The VR Enthusiasts Next Best Upgrade.

The Quest 3 is a substantial upgrade from the Quest 2. With a large increase to image quality, better engine to run games even faster, and an overall lighter system for great comfort, the Quest 3 is headset that’s hard to beat.
I bought mine specifically to run games off of my PC from steam, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that it runs games great on its own. You can only play Asgards Wrath 2 that way, and it runs great. So uncorded play is definitely a great option. The passthrough view of your environment is decent too.
Overall, a great next upgrade for the VR enthusiast.

Oculus Quest 3 Review: 4/5

The Oculus Quest 3 is a significant step forward in the world of virtual reality, offering a host of impressive features that enhance the user experience. One of the standout aspects of this device is its mixed reality capabilities, which seamlessly blend the virtual and real worlds. This feature opens up new possibilities for interactive experiences, making the Quest 3 a versatile tool for both gaming and productivity.
One of the highlights is the first revolution game, which is truly a game-changer. The immersive gameplay and innovative mechanics make it a must-try for any VR enthusiast. Additionally, the Supernatural fitness game offers a fun and engaging way to stay active, combining exercise with entertainment in a way that keeps users coming back for more.
However, the Quest 3 is not without its drawbacks. The requirement to purchase subscription games can be a downside for some users, adding ongoing costs to the initial investment. Furthermore, some users have reported seeing squiggly lines on the screen, which can detract from the overall experience. The screen resolution, while decent, is not as high as some might expect, which could be a point of contention for those seeking the sharpest visuals. Additionally, with the Supernatural fitness game, the need to frequently recalibrate the device to fit your height can be inconvenient and disrupt the flow of your workout.
Having upgraded the head strap to a brand I found on Amazon because the original one felt flimsy, I can say this made a significant difference in comfort and stability. Another downside is that the controllers aren't rechargeable, though the batteries do last a long time. While the Oculus Quest 3 itself offers a lot of value, its battery life is a bit disappointing, lasting only 1.5-2 hours on a full charge, which takes a considerable amount of time to achieve.
As someone who doesn't use VR primarily for gaming but was motivated to purchase the Oculus Quest 3 after seeing great reviews on fun workouts, I can attest to its effectiveness in this area. Despite its cons, the Oculus Quest 3 remains a strong contender in the VR market, thanks to its innovative features and engaging content. If you're looking for a device that offers a blend of fun, fitness, and futuristic experiences, the Quest 3 is well worth considering.
Definitely worth $550 as opposed to the Apple vision pro at $3500.

Huge Upgrade from the Quest 2 - Not for everyone

I've been a big fan of Meta's VR headsets since the original Quest, and the Quest 3 is their best one yet. The visual quality is a huge leap forward, with a crystal-clear display, wider field of view, and impressive HDR support that makes everything look vibrant and lifelike. The new pancake lenses also drastically reduce the "goggles" effect I used to notice on earlier models.
One area where the Quest 3 really shines is the passthrough capabilities. The full-color, high-resolution passthrough is a game-changer, allowing me to seamlessly transition between virtual and physical environments. This is perfect for quick checks of my surroundings or integrating virtual elements into the real world. The only minor downside is the graininess to the passthrough image on my particular headset, but it's expected with new tech.
The ergonomics are also top-notch, with a comfortable fit and well-designed controls. I can use the Quest 3 for hours at a time without any discomfort. The improved hand tracking is also a welcome addition, letting me interact with virtual objects in a much more natural way.
In terms of performance, the Quest 3 handles even the most graphically intense VR experiences with ease. Load times are fast, and I haven't experienced any stuttering or frame rate issues. The battery life is around 2 hours, doesn't sound like much but believe me if you've experienced vr before its quite a good amount, still though with the price, i'd expect a little more battery juice from the get go without the need to buying extra accessories.
Overall, the Quest 3 is a fantastic upgrade that solidifies Meta's position as a leader in consumer VR. If you're in the market for a high-quality, versatile VR headset, I can't recommend the Quest 3 highly enough. It's a true game-changer!
Cons: Short battery life, strap shipped with headset gets dirty easily and needs an upgrade and extra accessories (ie more money) to play from the get go.
Accessories I used for this review: Power bank to have around just incase you are in a game and the battery is low, a plastic head attachment to the main strap, helped alot, silicon wrap around the face interface area (highly recommended), was much more comfier and helped with sport games, silicone straps for the controllers (helps with sweaty hands)

Using this as a pcvr headset, and the ability to use this in full 360 without fear of ripping the cable out the back of my head was a game changer. Graphics wise this is by far the best I've experienced so far.
Downsides I've noticed are the fov feels a little constructing, and the battery life is on the shorter side of what id prefer.
Overall, I would 100% recommend this headset to someone who's interested in VR but doesn't feel comfortable spending twice the money for a dedicated PC headset.

So, i bought this in may 2024. and i have got to say this thing is awesome! the standalone graphics are great, plus you can play pcvr on it! i usually play pcvr and this thing works really great with it. and if you have a vr ready pc, definitely buy this because other headsets for pcvr are much more expensive. however, if you want to play standalone, it is also great! it has about the same performance as a gtx 980 ti, and you can also make the graphics better using sidequest! some games i recommend are batman, bonelab, beatsaber, contractors, and more! overall if you are new to vr but dont have thousands of dollars this a great pick! durability is also really good (i have 2 chaotic kids so you can trust me) ps, dm me hk12 on discord if you want 30 bucks in quest cash when buying your headset

Great headset for standalone VR games/apps. Overall its also pretty good for multitasking if you don't have multiple monitors and don't plan on getting more monitors, because even without any additional apps you can have 3 meta browser windows open side by side at once.
128gb is good enough if you don't plan on using too many apps/games at once and don't mind uninstalling/re-downloading apps, as the space will fill up pretty quickly if you are a heavy user.
Things to keep in mind: Mixed Reality isn't as clear as shown in ads.
Get a new strap for comfort. I recommend the Destek strap for quest 3 (no built in battery, but great comfort). If you want one with a battery I would recommend either Aubika, BoboVR, or Binbok.
Get a battery pack that supports 9V 3A out.
Get a cable that supports 30W PD. (So it charges faster than it uses power).
Get a new facial interface (waiting for VR Cover to release theirs), or at the very least a facial interface cover to cover the default interface.
Tip: make sure to setup a meta account and claim a ref from anywhere you find one before setting up your headset, to get credit for games.
Note: In the picture is the 3rd party Destek headstrap on the quest 3.

For a standalone headset this is the best at its price. There are lots of things that you can do with this headset by itself. But it would open up more options when connecting to a computer. It’s thinner and more lightweight than the 2nd quest making it a lot more comfortable. My only complaint about this headset would be the head strap. I would get rid of that as soon as possible and get something more comfortable.

I know there's other thing like the Vive HTC and stand alone Oculus but you also have to remember those are well over a 1000 dollars. With some elbow grease you can get the Quest 3 to do and play just about anything that the other headsets do! 530$ after tax may he a lil steep but as far as consumer VR is concerned this is literally your best bang for your buck!

The Quest 3 is an amazing piece of technology. I was blown away right off the bat when i put it on. It keeps amazing me with what it can do. I am happy with how there are new games coming in as it seems endlesslly. Watching 3D immersive videos was a first in this thing for me too. So kool. I will say i wish the natterly lasted longer, but I'd expect the tech to improve over time.

So I've been using the Quest 3 for several hours now (I admit, way too much of this time was playing Premium Bowling VR).. but I can safely say, WOW what a stark contrast this headset is compared to the Quest 2! That's not to say it's unfamiliar, because it's totally not. But with color passthrough (being able to see the real world around you in color), the Quest 3 simply feels much closer to what the future of VR/AR should be- you no longer feel isolated or closed off from the world around you. But yet, all the immersive experiences/games/apps look even better with the improved resolution & pancake lenses. I love the redesigned TouchPlus controllers, they feel ergonomically comfortable in the hands. One standout app for brainstorming/organizing your thoughts as an overlay in the world around you: Softspace. Check it out!

So fun! Big step up from the Quest 2 in terms of optics, graphical power, and comfort. Having those pancake senses really alleviate the issues of finding your eyes’ sweet spots every time you don the headset. Battery life is a little lackluster at 2-ish, but an USB C cable and 10000mAh power bank can extend that by several hours.

The quest 3 is much improved over the second generation. Big screen helps with the sync to my pc and is pretty seamless. The feel on my face is improved, but doesn’t account for various nose sizes. I have purchased a head strap upgrade to hopefully improve this (pic attached). The material that sits on your face will absorb sweat and get nasty. The resolution is much easier on the eyes. I do not get headaches from this version.

I returned my quest 2 about 6 months or so ago in anticipation for this headset and im not bummed about it at all. First off the screens/ lensed are clear clear clear I cant see a single pixel. (Also im using this soley for pcvr so im not sure on standalone performance) Quality isnt too bad , I feel like its a tad bit cheap feeling on some connecting parts like they’re not secure feeling. Pass through is pretty good but not duper amazing like they advertised as, its good but still distorted a bit.Comfort isnt too bad, i feel like its a step up from the quest 2 but for me when I tighten it up to my face it really makes it burn and itch so I have ti have it on loose till I buy an aftermarket i terface. Overall so good! Definitely recommend this one, but the price is a bit much honestly it should be more around $350-$400.

Quick easy and shipped to my home within 2 days! The mobility of this product is more important to me than the slight upgrade in graphics of the psvr2. I previously had the Meta Quest 2, and the quest 3 definitely has some really cool upgrades to it, for example the Mixed Reality/pass through! It’s so unreal how I can be anywhere in my house and have a screen beside me with everything in the background being clear and fully colored compared to the black and white background on the Quest 2. Another thing I like about it are the controllers compared to the Quest 2 controllers, very lightweight and simple! Then, I’d like to mention something that I’m not sure that many people talk about and that’s the eye irritation/headaches that would occasionally happen on the quest 2 after hours of using. On the Quest 3, it’s almost non existent for me! Very cool and innovative tech we have during this present time we are in! The only thing I would change about the Quest 3 is the battery life, I understand it uses a better chip, therefore more power usage, but I feel okay with buying an extra battery bank for it. That’s all I can complain about this amazing product. Thank you Meta/Best Buy!
