Metal Gear Solid is one of my most beloved series in all my 25 years of gaming. I was so excited when they debuted the trailer for The Phantom Pain and then a little confused when they said they would be releasing a smaller version of the game to give players a taste of new metal gear. I sincerely hope Hideo Kojima and Konami are paying close attention to the negative feeback this game has been getting. First of all it is a very short game, I played it for a total of 7 hours, but I was going back and replaying side missions for achievements. Technically the game is one short main mission and several side missions, plus a mission with Raiden that unlocks if you collect all the XOF Patches. Despite it all, I was left feeling very confused and uncomfortable on why this game was even made, much less sold for a price. Next I was very disappointed with many of the things that make Metal Gear Solid great were not even included in the game. Things like knocking on walls, codec calls, laying down magazines and playing around with the guards. Ground Zeroes seems to have lost some of its charm and campiness that the other games had. I hope this is not neglected in The Phantom Pain because those are fun little moments I was really sad were not included in Ground Zeroes. Finally, they need to do something about Sutherland voicing Big Boss. It was such a let down. Konami and Kojima should have chosen someone lesser known and with not such a recognizable voice. I felt like I was playing as Jack Bauer, not Big Boss. It was very unsettling and awkward. I couldn't shake the feeling. Some people seem to be okay with this, they must be new to the series, because I've talked to friends who are veterans and they think Sutherland turning Metal Gear into 24 is just dreadful. Aside from these glaring issues, it was a pretty good time and I'm glad that I purchased it. But again, Konami and Kojima Productions have A LOT of work ahead of them if they want to make it as magical as the other games in the series.

Okee, sooooo many of you have obviously heard bout the 19.00 - 29.00 dollars Kojima & company are charging for this. Well, let's just back up for a sec...It's Kojima & company, for cryng out loud!!! Yeah, it VERY much looks like a cash cow, money grab...No doubt!!! But, I REALLY think that Phantom Pain isn't going to be ready this year..Soooo...I was willing to pony up whatever it took to see the next level of Snake. Point blank. I bought this game (err...demo??? hee...) for XB1 & PS3 (PSN offered a theme with pre-purchase & discount of 10.00, bringing it down to $19.00. (The PS3 build is kinda grainy, but still holds it's next-gen feel.) The XB1 build TRULY looks next-gen. The textures, the seamless cut scenes into live action & the WAY unpredictable AI won me over immediately. Unforntunately, it's NOT EVERYONE'S cup of tea. The price of entry will definately turn A LOT of folks away. The fact that it's ONLY 5 missions is ALSO a huge turnoff. But, for diehards, this is for you. If you can swing it, DEFINATELY go next gen. Well worth it...

Its great! This is a fun MGS title (prologue) with good next-gen visuals, improved game play controls, and corny (expected in the MGS universe) military espionage story. While the MGS story lines can get convoluted, the play mechanics remain simple, yet improved, in this prologue installment. One thing that I noted is Ground Zeroes feels significantly more difficult than previous games. The AI has improved and guards have a more realistic field of view (they can see much further than they could before). If there is one negative aspect to the game is that the price tag is considered high for what is essentially one level of a video game. Sure, you can technically go through the main game mission in 10 minutes (Seriously. Its been done. Google it.), but you have to consider this is an open world level that allows for many side missions which equals additional hours of game play. Not to mention the traditional MGS incentive to go back and replay the game on the harder setting and/or improve your tactical grade.

As you should know by now this is only a teaser to MGS V: Phantom Pain. But given that fact it is still a fun gaming experience and if you're a fan of the Metal Gear series then this is a must buy. Ground Zeroes isn't just a shortened mission ripped from MGS V: PP, but it's own prelude mission that sheds a little light on what's to come. There is one main mission which takes about 2.5 hours on first play through but like all metal gears it lends itself to multiple plays to collect everything. There are also a few extra alternate missions that add some longevity to the game, and based on the version you get you can even unlock a bonus missions with either Raiden (Xbox One) or MGS1 styled Snake and enemies on PS4. It's a fun play and for the price a good pick up for the next gen consoles in a fairly limited next gen selection of games.

Ground Zeroes is a very good game as in it is solid no other videogame can surpass this games mechanics. The story is very short and will disappoint you when you complete it but it is a prologue for the upcoming Phantom Pain and though many think the price is ridiculous I think it's at a great price because games just have not been so perfectly executed before. This game is moving the franchise in the right direction and I recommend it only to people who like metal gear and have played at least the last two (snake eater and guns of the patriots) or to those wanting to experience a good next gen adventure. But most will still argue that this game is overpriced and not a complete game.

As I'm sure others have eluded to, this game is a quick one. But it's as quick as you make it. The story mission itself is a prelude to the upcoming Phantom Pain game and leaves you hanging, desperately waiting for the new game to come out. It took me about an hour and 45 minutes to complete the mission, and that was taking my time and being stealthy. Once that was complete various side missions are unlocked that also help with the replayability of the game. It promises to unlock in game items for Phantom Pain when you get it, so time spent on this game is worth it in the long run. Bring on Phantom Pain, Ground Zeroes is just a taste of MGS that I can't wait for!

This is not a full game, but a teaser for MGS5. Ground Zeroes sets the stage for the next chapter in the Metal Gear franchise. To me, thats the entire point of this game. Do not purchase this if you are looking for hours of fun or a lot of replay value. I did enjoy the game, and it was nice to get familiar with the new control system that we can expect in The Phantom Pain as well as Kiefer Sutherland being introduced as the new voice of Snake. I can't recommend this as a purchase for the price. $30 was a bit much for what is included here, but it is certainly worth playing even if it becomes a rental or you can pick it up on sale.

This is more or less a preview of the eventual full game Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain to get people familiar with the controls. It does look incredible on the Xbox One even though it doesn't seem to be a true test of the machine's color palette with a drab desert setting. The game is fun with varying ways to play it going full stealth or guns blazing. I went in guns blazing. My only negative would be the length. It's fairly short especially if you go reckless and take out everyone as fast as possible. It can be beaten in about 2 hours. Should you get it? Well, with the slowed release of new games, give it a shot.

Everyone seems to be mad at the length of this title, calling it a glorified demo. I do think it's a bit pricey for what DOES amount to a one level demo, but I really enjoyed it. I played through everything and getting 100% of the achievements and the few challenges that were posted on Xbox Live. The graphics are fantastic and Snake moves very well compared to most games. Not perfect, but much better. If anyone enjoys stealthy games, buy it. The plot is a bit melodramatic but the gameplay is spot on.

I love the Metal Gear Series. It's like being in a 007 movie action scene. The graphics are top notch, and the storyline is intriguing. BUT, the game is short. About 7 hours in length. Given other games of similar caliber, this should be easily 10-20. Perhaps it's because it's a prequel to the next MGS or to the entire storyline? But still, I don't know the story/game couldn't draw out a little more. Otherwise, a good game if your into the stealth action genre.

There are tons of things to do in this very short game. But it must be made clear, that this game can be beat in 20 mins. I've done it. Many others have done it. There is no way this game should've been released at full retail, but it was. This is by far the worst addition to the Metal Gear Series. But if you can get past this, and look at this game as a preview to a full title coming later this year, than you may be more accepting.

This game kept me hooked for just a couple hours. You have a choice to go in guns blazing or do everything without alerting anyone. Whatever you prefer. The story is amazing as well as the graphics. If you try and get an S rating on every mission to complete the achievements you will spend a little more time on this game. The story is very short but is a must play for any MGS fans out there.

This is a joke that they charge $30 for this game. It should have been a free demo for the next installment of the Metal Gear Series. You can go through the game in about an hour if your good. This is a joke and very disappointing for $30. I would have expected at least half a game for my $30. Just terrible, makes me not want to buy a Metal Gear game ever again. Don't wast your cash on this.

It was not very well advertised that this was just a teaser game. Because of that, it was very short. And the game was just the bare bones MGS. There were no tricks or gadgets. It was just Snake and a dart gun and SMG. It was very hard to sneak around without being spotted and it would deduct points when you were spotted. i finished with around -2250 points.

Nice graphics, new controls are very welcome to the series. 6 missions to play may seem a bit light but if you like to replay to get "S" ratings, there is more than $30 worth of game here. And yes, you get a glimpse of the MGS series story, enough to make you confused and amused, Go Kojima! Must have game for anyone who likes stealth or "run and gun". This game has a lot to offer.

The Metal Gear Solid story has always been awesome and fun to play, have been a fan since the original Metal Gear on Nintendo, was really excited to hear about the new upcoming Metal Gear game but was somewhat disappointed with the release in 2 parts, main reason for buying Ground Zero's was to have it in my collection and it having exclusive DLC contact for the Phantom Pain

This game is a precursor for the phantom pain so its more of a glorified demo but atleast its cheap. I had a lot of fun playing the missions in diff ways and difficulties and if your new to the series this is a great way to learn the controls on next gen system before the real game comes out. This game looks better on ps4 so if you have ps4 get it on that system.

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zero has a more classic feel to the PS1. Has some elements of other classic Metal Gear games as well. The only downfall to Ground Zero is hat just as you get comfortable to it, the game ends leading presumable to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Ground Zero is a great warm up to the next chapter. The best part is Snake is back!

This is one of the best demos I have ever played. It was nice to see what next gen is truly capable of. Don't pay full price for it though it is not worth $30.00. Somebody excited about MGS game should pay $20.00 for it. Everybody else should wait tell its in the 10 to 15 dollar range. As for the game it is pretty and smooth. Can't wait for Phantom Pain.

I love this game for the simple fact they got it right. The game is fun, and highly re-playable. It's awesome to get a preview build taste of what is to come in the full version of the game that won't be out for possibly another year. I also was a fan of the 29.99 price point. I think more game companies could benefit from this format with marquee titles.
