Customers are impressed with the fit and ease of installation of the Dash Kit, noting that it looks factory-installed and integrates well with existing systems. However, some customers found the buttons unresponsive and the price to be high. The display also received mixed reviews, with some finding it difficult to read in bright light. Overall, the kit's functionality is appreciated, but improvements could be made to the button quality, pricing, and display clarity.

After my stock radio died in my 2004 Chevrolet Malibu, I needed to replace it but the driver information center was integrated in the stereo. So, I purchased a stereo and this kit to replace the stock equipment.
Geek Squad did a great job with the installation of the kit and my new stereo. I've had it since Memorial Day. Unfortunately, the buttons on the Metra kit are not very responsive, forcing me to keep hitting it to advance to the next information item. They definitely don't perform as the original DIM unit did. For $200, I had a higher expectations. Also, the time is 30 minutes off and no matter what I do, it still is behind.
My experience may be specific to the unit I received. I am going to go back and see what can be done with it. Otherwise, it looks ok. If a friend needed to replace their GM stock radio, I would tell them to get it. I don't know of any other option.
My review does not reflect negatively on the high quality work of Geek Squad. That was A+ and all future technology installations I need in the future will be with them.

I do not like the look of this installation kit. My new Pioneer radio looks so nice...then you look under it and see this dinosaur looking digital display.
However, the greatness of my radio overshadows the bland look of this kit.
I HAD to get the kit in order for my Pioneer to be installed, so there you have it.

I bought this online on Feb. 26, 2011, for my 2007 Pontiac G6 which I had to have to install the CD player. I had a CD player and speakers installed on March 4, 2011, the CD player worked great all day that Friday. When I got in my car Saturday afternoon, the CD player didn't come on or the Metra unit so I took it back in and the installer had to cut power off, then back on and it worked. It worked most of the day and then Sunday morning around 1:30 a.m. got in car and it didn't work again. Not worth the hassle or money. This unit is very badly made, do no buy. Recommend you keep factory CD player.

For $200 it's the cheesiest thing i've ever bought. It was working great, but the next day after it was installed the lcd screen stopped displaying anything. It worked good and was easy to use, but it's not worth $200, maybe $50 at the most. Try another solution if you need a dash kit like this.
