Customers frequently mention the ease of installation and use of the Helios In-Wall Power Outlet Relocation Kit. The length of the cord is also a frequently praised feature. Some customers feel that the price is a bit high, but the hole saw is effective at cutting through walls.

Great for a clean flat screen tv installation.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Prior to starting make sure you know what you are doing. If you do not know how to do construction or handy stuff don't try it yourself. I have done construction and remodels so this was easy for me. First and foremost you need to find the stud locations and one of the most important is the fire blocking. If you don't know what fire blocking is then you might have a problem when installing this. Anyway after finding all the stud locations and routing where you want to put the 2 plugs you can use the hole saw and cut open the 2 holes. Then use the snake line that it comes with the pull the wire through. Make sure you fit everything together prior to and mark it and get everything all setup. Then you place the plates and set them and then you lock the covers on and you are done.... The other pass through holes are a bit small. Max you can pass is maybe 1 HDMI cable and a coax and 1 cat5/cat5 cable.. The other thing is after you plug in the extension cord there is a tab that slightly blocks the pass through opening. Other than that this is a clean installation for being able to eliminate cords and power cords for a wall mounted flat screen. I would recommend this product based on my experience.

Do-It-Yourself Hidden Wire Installation Kit For TV
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Helios by Metra Home Theater Group is a brand I have preferred for years of installing home theater systems. The reason is simple; the Helios product line is innovative & their solutions are always high quality. This Helios In-Wall Power Relocation Kit is an all inclusive kit, designed for the Do-It-Yourself installer. This kit is amazing! I love the 9' 14-gauge in-wall power cable. This extra long, heavy duty cable is ideal for installing your TV in rooms with the highest ceilings. A 6' cable is included to connect to an existing power outlet. Other pluses for this Helios Kit are openings for HDMI, Coax, Audio, USB & other cables. These openings enable a fully appointed home theater installation without messy wires running up the wall, for a clean installation. Strong in-wall housings & attractive facia housings are included. DIY Tools are even included in this kit: a 3" hole saw blade with T-handle that can be used with power drills, and a wire snake to pull cables in the wall. CONCLUSION: This Metra - Helios In-Wall Power Outlet Relocation Kit offers everything a DIY installer needs to conceal power & accessory wires for a clean Home Theater installation. It earns my highest recommendation.

Smooth Summer Project
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’m glad Best Buy has headed into the home aesthetics category of tech. For years I’ve walked the aisles and they have the wall plates for hiding wires but I rarely found a cool kit like this. First make sure to have a stud finder if you can and don’t give into the urge to use a power drill to attach to the hole saw. Use the hand tool it gives you more control and it won’t feel as jarring. The two power plates are very easy to install just make sure to measure and align your plates so it doesn’t look weird. I will be honest and say once you’re a few centimeters off it is hard to reverse (it was bothering me so I had to get a kit to patch and adjust the alignment). Easy mistake and a tough fix so be cautious. Once you’ve made your holes you’ll run the actual power cords through the wall, snap them into place with the provided helmets that were provided. A side note is that there’s no tube to run the cord through like other kits in my house which can be troublesome if you have anything obstructing your cord in the wall like insulation. It’s that simple, you then snap your face plates onto the screwed in wall plates and “ta-dah”! You will then plug in your power cord to the wall outlet and run it to the nearest power source. This was exactly what I needed for my guest room which is small, I wanted it to look minimal and simple without fuss. The hand saw is going to make a mess with your drywall so have a vacuum on hand for the chalky powder. A great project that takes about an hour to get complete and mounting your tv.

No more seeing TV Cord Going up the Wall.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I hated seeing the TV and Coax cable hanging down my living room wall. I decided to try the Halios AVRL-KIT1 In-Wall Power Outlet Relocation Kit. It is easy to install and prevents unsightly TV electrical Cord. Our outlet was about 10 inches from the floor and 5 foot down and two feet over from the TV. Our TV is installed on the wall. We needed to cut two holes 3 inches in diameter using the included hole saw and a household drill. It does come with a T-Handle if you didn’t want to use a drill. This is fairly easy to do but makes a mess in the floor from the dry wall. That is the only mess this kit makes. I have asthma so I wore a mask to keep from breathing in the dry wall dust. We relocated the outlet over about 2 ft and then hid the rest inside the wall up to the TV while installing new outlet behind the TV. Perfectly invisible. The kit comes with all the cords that we needed. I was impressed with the sturdy heavy weight cords. They are top quality. The cord that goes is the wall is 9 ft and grounded. It was perfect length for our project. All in all it worked perfectly to keep the cords invisible up the wall. There is still the problem of seeing the cord from the existing outlet to the newly installed outlet but furniture easily hides that. I would not hesitate to use this again to hide my cords.

Easily and Affordably Conceal all Cables and Wires
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Metra has designed the Helios In-Wall Power Outlet Relocation Kit to be as easy, complete, and convenient as possible. For the retail price, I don’t think you could purchase all the parts, cords, installation tools and housing pieces that are included. Everything needed except for a screwdriver, measuring tape, pencil, tape, and a level is included in the kit. It even comes with a hole saw and fish tape. It also comes with a 9’ in wall power cable, a 6’ power cable and two in-wall electrical housing units. Installation is quick and simple. Centering the future placement of the electrical in-wall housing units is the initial step. Since the in-wall cord is only 9’ long, this sets the maximum distance between the housing unit on the wall that will be concealed behind the TV, and the location of the electrical housing unit directly below where the power cord will be snaked back out of the wall to reach the power outlet. With the drill hole saw that is included, and after measuring the location of the placement of these two electrical housing units, and marking the exact placement, two holes can be drilled where the two electrical housing units will be installed. The housing units are well thought out and house the ends of the electrical cords securely to give a neat, safe, and finished project. The electrical plug crowns will be held in place once fitted into the housing with the small phillips screws provided, two to each plug. At this point, if cable TV is used, that cord can be snaked with the fishing wire through the same openings. The electrical housing units fit flush to the wall and can be secured by tightening the dog ears secured to the unit with phillips head screws. The final installation is to hang your TV monitor on the wall and use the 6’ power cable to go from the outlet you have just installed nearest to the floor to the wall outlet in your room.

Nice, easy to install kit
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a nice in wall power relocation kit. The way the parts go together make the install easy and look good when finished. I needed this kit to finish off a TV install in our home gym / music room. I was sick of looking at the power and coax cable hanging down the wall. I couldn’t use wire molding down the wall because of the trim. Busted open this kit, took a quick look at the directions and went to work with the hole saw included. I had my 2 holes drilled and grabbed the fish tape (also included) and proceeded to run the fish tape between the holes… or so I thought… Turns out this house we moved into a couple years ago, has insulation in the interior wall, and the wall I have the TV mounted on must be a load bearing wall because there was also a horizontal 2x6 between the studs. The fish tape hit a hard stop between the holes I drilled. What would have been a quick simple 30 minute install, now would take a couple hours. Fortunately the back side of this wall is a bedroom closet, so I ended up cutting an access hole in the closet side so I could drill a hole through the 2x6. Note: you might want to use a stud finder and verify you don’t have the same horizontal boards between your planned 2 hole locations. Overall quality, fit and finish of this kit is nice. Bonus points for having the hole saw and fish tape included.

Easy Way to Get your Power where it is Needed!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Whoever came up with this idea is awesome. Helios In-Wall Power Outlet Relocation Kit is definitely a great solution for many of us who always want to mount their TV on the wall but hate seeing the dangling power and HDMI cables. This is a very simple and economical way to get your power where your TV will be mounted without the need of calling an electrician and paying a ton of money for just running a power cable up the wall. This Relocation Kit provides everything one needs to do the job and believe me it won't take you long at all. The kit includes even the tools and all the hardware as well. Since it is a Do it Yourself kit you just need to figure out where the TV will be mounted, make sure the provided 9' power cable for in-wall use is long enough for your needs and you are set. The instructions are very easy to follow as well. The in-wall power cable runs neatly behind your wall with openings for other cables as well like HDMI, coax and your audio cables - pretty much hiding the usual mess you would see when you just wall-mount your TV. Like I said in the beginning of my review, this is a great idea and well-thought of and implemented at home so easily! So glad I found this amazing solution!

Great product does the job.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great product and it really worked well. The tool that comes with it to create the hole in drywall just simply broke off. I was like surprised. But I just used my drill to slowly drill it out. Overall worked well and really good. I would recommend may be a 3 foot cable max to connect it to the outlet, felt like it was too big. So I am ordering a 1 foot cable since mine is little less than that from outlet. I felt it was just too bulky. Not taking any stars off cuz its just preference. But something slimmer would be nice.

Great DIY in-wall outlet kit
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Helios In-Wall Power Outlet Relocation Kit offers a convenient solution for relocating your power outlet to accommodate your flat screen TV or other electronic devices. This kit includes all the necessary components to hide the wiring behind your devices. It provides two in-wall ports, a hole saw with a T-handle, a 9.84" in-wall power cable, a 6.56" extension power cable, and a 9.84" fishing cable. The installation process is straightforward, although I did find that the included fishing cable was quite thin and had to resort to using my own for pulling the wires in. However, apart from this minor inconvenience, the overall quality of the items in the kit is decent. One of the advantages of this kit is that it allows you to conceal the wires for your TV without the need for an electrician or dealing with potentially hazardous live wires. It simplifies the process and ensures a neater appearance. In conclusion, the Helios In-Wall Power Outlet Relocation Kit effectively serves its intended purpose and gets the job done. It's a convenient option for anyone looking to relocate their power outlet and hide the wiring behind their TV or electronic devices.

Kit worked well in my bedroom.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This kit worked great for my bedroom. I was able to put the cables in the wall and everything looks clean. One end went behind the TV. The other end is behind the dresser that is below the TV. The drywall between the studs creates the hidden track for my cables. Kit came all inclusive. Used the included drill bit to drill the holes. There is a hand crank (included) for the drill bit, but I used my cordless drill. Wall power was extended from the wall outlet to behind the TV. The only issue I can see with this kit is that it will not work if you have fire blocking in the wall. In my case, there was not any fire blocking and everything worked great. It even came with a fish tape. I have ordered a second one for my other bedroom.

A Wonderful Solution To An Age-Old Problem!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As with so many others who own a wall-mounted television, I have often wished there was a way to hide all the cords and cables without having to put a piece of furniture or some other object below the TV. I have even thought of using some form of decorative conduit or some other similar object. Not only because they look so jumbled and chaotic, but they are always in the way when I go to clean and vacuum the floor. The collect dust bunnies, and its always necessary to pick them up, move them around, and so on and so on. I've used zip ties before, but the one time I actually damaged a cord when trying to undo one of the zip ties taught me a valuable lesson. And in all honesty, I didn't even know there was such a thing as a power outlet relocating kit. So when I heard about the Helios In-Wall Power Outlet Relocating Kit, I jumped at the opportunity to get it. The kit arrived in a very short time, and as I opened the box I was impressed by the seeming quality of all the components. There are two extremely high-quality power cords included with the kit, one for the power source and the other for running up through the inside of the wall to the new outlet. The one for the inside of the wall is designed to be able to be bent to keep its shape. Also included in the kit are the face plates, a "snake" for fishing wires up through the wall, and the actual hole saw...complete with a very nice, good-quality handle. Everything in the kit is just top-notch. Now, when it came time to actually install it, I have to admit I was a bit hesitant. After all, it was me who was going to have to do this, and the last thing I can claim to be is an installer of anything. I was even more hesitant when I saw the installation instructions - a one page sheet. How could there only be one sheet? But when I calmed down a bit and started studying it, I saw that for the most part the instructions were easy to follow, and quite straightforward. In a nutshell, all that is required is to simply figure out where you want to place the new outlet, and how far up the wall you want to place it. There is ample leeway with choosing a new location because the extension cord is long enough to allow a lot of freedom in choosing. After thinking through where I wanted the new outlet, it was time to use the hole saw. I used a pencil to mark where I wanted everything. I also used a stud finder to make sure there wasn't any unforeseen studs or other objects behind where I wanted to cut. Needless to say I was a bit nervous, but I knew that the people who designed this kit didn't just throw a bunch of stuff in a box without thinking this through to make it as easy as possible. So, I went for it. The hole saw slips into the handle, and includes a drill bit to make the entire process easy. I have to add that in order to make this super simple, you need to use a screwdriver or some other pointed object to place a starter hole for the drill bit to fit into. This way there isn't any sliding around when you begin cutting the hole. In a few short minutes I had both holes cut, the cords and everything ran (with the help of the handy-dandy fishing snake!) and all the outlets in place. The face plates fit nicely and snugly. The hardest part of this whole procedure was moving the TV off the wall bracket and then putting it back on again. If you have a larger profile flat screen, be sure you have someone on standby to help you remove and then replace the TV. After getting everything all situated, It was time to test it out and turn it on. And of course everything was great. Everything from start to finish with the Metra Helios In-Wall Power Outlet Relocation Kit was a rather simple and easy process. I didn't run into one single issue. The one (and only one) thing is that I wanted to continue using a surge protector, so instead of having only the Helios extension cord running from the power outlet to the Helios outlet, I also have a surge protector that I had to use to plug the extension cord into. Looks a little awkward, but the trade off (with the disappearance of all the dangling cords and cables) is well worth it. If you are looking for a way to simply relocate a power outlet for you wall-mounted TV, or if you need a power outlet higher up on the wall for any reason, I HIGHLY recommend the Metra-Helios In-Wall Power Outlet Relocation Kit! It will make that jumbled mess behind your TV a lot more orderly, and make for clean looking wall beneath!

Simple kit, interesting idea
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It looks like this kit is geared for someone with no tools and very little DIY experience. If that’s you, then this is probably a good option. About all you’ll need that’s not included is a tape measure, pencil, and a Phillips screwdriver. If you have a bubble level, you can make sure the in-wall housings are installed squarely. If not, you can just eyeball it. The instructions are concise, clearly illustrated, and easy to follow. They consist of 11 steps shown on the front and back of a single 8.5x11 sheet of paper. You’ll need to cut a couple of round holes with the included hole saw, fish the power cord and any other cables you might want to include like coax or HDMI using the included fish tape, then screw all the connectors and housings together. If you’re doing this on an exterior wall of your home, then the insulation in the wall could make fishing a little more difficult, but it should still be doable in most cases. The kit also assumes a clear path up the wall between the studs. If there is any kind of brace board between the studs, then you’ll be out of luck. That’s probably not too common of an occurrence, though. Another thing to consider is the depth of the in-wall housings with the cables connected is about 2.75” so it’s going to take up most of the space in the standard 3.5” wall stud space. But again, unless there’s something unusual going on with the wall construction, this should not be a problem. When it’s all installed, keep in mind that you’ll always have the extension cord running along the floor between the original wall receptacle and the bottom outlet of the kit. Hopefully you can conceal it behind some furniture, and it’ll be out of the way. The extension cord is also about 6 feet long. I suppose, in theory, you could buy a longer extension if you needed it. The in-wall extension cable is about 9’ which should get you from near the floor to most ceilings. There are two other important considerations with this kit. One, make sure whatever power cord you’re going to plug into the extended outlet is a normal, slim plug. If there is anything sticking up on the two-prong side of the cord it will likely NOT fit into the receptacle. There is very little clearance in the deeply inset housing. Two, the space in the in-wall housings for the extra non-power cables is just a wide opening with no real way to seal it up. If you’re installing on an exterior wall, you may get a lot of cold air filtering in unless you figure out a way to seal it up better.

High quality in wall power outlet relocation kit!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Metra Helios In-Wall Power Outlet Relocation Kit is a simple way to do a professional install of a behind-the-wall wiring system for a wall-mounted TV and entertainment system. I have personally done another installation of this type in a previous home. However, in that home I used wall-mounted covers that only had an opening for the wires and it protruded out a little from the wall. I of course used two of them and it was a lot better than having wires running up the wall. Then comes the Metra Helios. The Helios system comes with everything you need to do the install tools included. This means you do not have to be a Handyman or Electrician to complete the installation. You only need to be proficient in reading and comprehension to complete the installation of the Helios In-Wall Power Outlet Relocation kit. Personally, being proficient in performing tasks such as this type of installation I still really appreciate a well-thought-out system vs having to put one together myself. Having the right cords on hand that are very heavy duty is greatly appreciated as well as the correct size hole saw and a wire puller. I did not use the hole saw handle but I did find it rather amusing that it was included and therefore you do not even have to own a cordless drill to complete the installation unless you have wooden walls. I definitely would not want to hand drill a hole saw through anything except sheetrock. You will definitely benefit from finding a hook or small screwdriver to slide into your wire puller at the top for extra leverage when pulling wires up the inside of the wall. The hole saw handle end does not fit into the puller end loop. This Metra Helios system is very well made and everything in the kit is heavy-duty in nature. The wall covers are thick plastic and the cords are thick as well and as mentioned previously very heavy-duty in general. I also like the integrated cord system that fits perfectly into the wall covers for a clean neat install and method to get the power up the wall. The one thing I thought of that could be improved on is having a dual plug at the top so people like me with a soundbar mounted at the bottom of the TV have a plug for the soundbar. I also have a Harmony remote receiver on my soundbar. I could always use and mount a power strip on the wall or the TV mount arm. Right now I am using an extension cord with a three-outlet plug on the end zip tied to the TV mount. A multi-plug surge protector integrated at the top would be awesome. So there are other ways to address the plug issue I was just inspired by the current integration of the system and thought it was a good idea. Overall, I am very happy with the Metra-Helios In-Wall Power Outlet Relocation Kit. It is competitively priced and a top-quality product that will get the job done if you are in the market for this type of kit.

Everything you need in one box!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Everything you need in one box to relocate an outlet for your TV. I remember once I had an electrician come in to relocate an outlet for me so I could mount a TV and that bill was around $500. With this kit, pretty much anyone can simply, and safely relocate an outlet and run you’re a/v cables through the wall. Included is the round drill bit to put the perfect size hole in your wall. You just need to find a good spot in between 2 studs at the right height and you are good to go. You just drill in a hole at the top and bottom of your wall (make sure they are both in between the same 2 studs) I recommend using a drill to drill these doles as the included t-bar to make the holes is not easy, and my bar bent very easily when I was trying to do it. So just pop the included bit on your drill and it will be much easier! After you drill the 2 holes you just put in the top box and run the Romex cable through the wall down to the lower hole. You just push the box into the hole and then tighten the 2 screws on the box and it will tighten itself to the drywall with the 2 latches on the back of the box. Same thing goes for the lower hole. You then connect the plugs in each box and that’s really all you have to do to get power up to your TV. Just plug in the included extension cord into the bottom box and then plug that into your nearest outlet and that will provide power to the upper box. These boxes also allow you to run some a/v cables in the wall as well. There isn’t a ton of room, but you could easily get a couple HDMI cables in there and maybe some audio cables as well. For most people, that’s all you really need these days. I found this kit to include basically everything you need, and I truly feel that anyone can do this with ease. Yeah, it might be a little scary drilling holes in your walls for some people. But just follow the included instructions and you will be good to go! I highly recommend this product!
