Easy to install and makes ugly cables disappear

Super easy to install with or without a drill. I do recommend using a stud finder, however, as you'll need to make sure that 1 - there is no fire stop in the wall, and 2 - you'll be running the in-wall power cable in the same cavity between studs. If both of these are not a problem, the install is very straightforward. I used the included t-handle with the hole saw included in the package, which didn't take much effort to get through the wall. Once both holes were cut, I used the included fiche tape to pull the plug end from the upper hole to the lower hole. I used the included retainers to hold both plugs in place, top and bottom, and they're not going anywhere; you can also use a plastic adhesive if you want reinforced joints between the retainer clips and the plugs. Mounting the plug plates was really straightforward - I used a handheld screwdriver as not to damage the plastics. Then just run the extension cord from the plug you installed to an outlet (or get a nice 14 gauge grounded extension cord with a right-angle plug so whatever furniture under your tv can sit as close to the wall as possible). Added bonus - the wall plates have pass-through holes for whatever cabling you'd like to run up to your TV. Thinner HDMI cables and network cords work better for this feature, however.

    OK but needed stud finder

Metra Helios In-Wall Power Outlet Relocation Kit includes the Hole saw with T-handle,9.84' fish tape, 6.56' extension power cable, (2) Wall ports and 9.84' in-wall power cable Indeed everything needed but you really do need a stud finder to ensure a smooth install, why I gave it only 4 stars. I think for the price a basic simple stud finder should be included. I used my top notch stud finder and had no issues. Install took under an hour and when done was very neat. What took long was taking the tv of the wall mount to get access to the wall and routing the wires all over, that was like 2 hours and need helper to remove and reinstall the tv. I also bought several other outlet plates to route additional hdmi cables which really tidied up the rear wall wiring. The plates with the locking mechanism for plugs and cables felt pretty securing for unplugging and plugging into. I like the neutral color of the plates and no need to paint but you can if you happen to have your spare wall color paint. I think though the plates will need multiple coats to adhere to the plastic surface of the plates.

This is actually the second set that I've acquired over the past few months. The first I had purchased along with a television and utilized Best Buy's Total Tech program to have the TV delivered and this power relocation kit installed as well. It looked easy enough - the hardest part (with any project like this) is making sure you measure properly and get things set up before making cuts and routing. The included extension cord is ~9 ft, which should be plenty for most installations. The kit comes with two cables - one to route power from the top to the bottom and a second to take the bottom to a nearby power supply/outlet. Overall, installation is fairly intuitive - (1) mark your spots, (2) drill the holes using the included circular saw/handle (3) route the power cable between the holes (female end on top and male end on bottom) + any additional cable like HDMI or fiberoptic (4) snap on the in-wall mounts to the female & male ends of the port and secure with the back "crown"... this keeps the wall mount attached to the power cord (5) slide the housing into the wall holes (5) secure with screws (6) snap on the housing front plates. Really, the most difficult part of all this is planning everything in advance- where do you want the ports to be located, which cords do you want to route, do you have a level to make sure the mounts are aligned...? I routed an HDMI eARC cable in there to feed my sound system and another high capacity HDMI cable to an hub to branch out to all my peripheral systems like a PS5, Apple TV, Nintendo Switch dock. I'd recommend having some dry wall anchors available to screw the wall mount into, just in case. The additional tools you might want to have on hand to do all this (especially if you're doing it alone) are a tape measure, pencil/pen, a philips head screwdriver, a smell level, dry wall anchors, an electric drill to mount the anchors, and having some tape on hand is helpful to just keep things in place as you route cables/cords. You don't NEED all of this, but it would surely help. The one thing I wish this kit had is a rubber/silicone piece or even like those plastic bristles for the other cables (e.g. HDMI) to slide through the mount so it's not just an open hole. I know this is probably a very specific need but I don't love the idea of it not closed off.

Modern Power Solution for Modern Home Design

The Metra - Helios In-Wall Power Outlet Relocation Kit is an outstanding solution for converting your standard flush mount wall outlets to a sunken input that allows you to mount TVs or other media solutions without having to adjust the placement or posture to accommodate for a protruding plug. This Helios In-Wall Power Outlet Relocation Kit works for other applications too, such as installing a mini-refrigerator in an enclosed space under a counter, or any place you need to place a stationary appliance that you would prefer to avoid having the plug disrupt the uniformity of the placement. The installation kit comes with everything you need to complete the conversation, however, you may need an additional screwdriver if your current sockets use a different type of screw. The included cords are great. They are made of high quality material and are long enough to meet most installation needs without the need to extend the length using additional cables or connectors. Installation is of the Helios In-Wall Power Outlet Relocation Kit is pretty simple. No complicated wiring or connection requirements. You can have the entire outlet conversion finished in under 20 minutes. I really love this outlet relocation kit and have acquired several more for other areas of the home where I wanted to create a more manicured design eliminating bulky wiring and extension cords. I highly recommend the Metra - Helios In-Wall Power Outlet Relocation Kit.

The Helios In-Wall Power Outlet Relocation Kit is a basic, but an effective solution for simplifying the appearance of the TV. The two most important parts for this type of DIY project is cutting out the drywall and routing cables. The included tools made installation easy. The handsaw was powerful enough and the fish tape was adequate in allowing me to route cables. If done carefully and correctly, this setup can be completed in 30-40 minutes. This is a great kit, but I do have two minor complaints. The first knock against this product is that I did wish for the cutout for the wires were a bit more roomy. The reason being is that the person who owns multiple devices might need to accommodate for 3-4 HDMI cables, A/V cables, and possibly an ethernet cable. If your cables are not thick then this could be fine. However, I do notice that some in-wall rated cables are a bit thicker than others The other gripe is that this kit is designed for TVs without mounted soundbars. If your soundbar sits on a TV stand then there's no need to worry. However, an additional outlet for the soundbar would make this the ultimate kit. Overall, the kit doesn't do much to separate itself from other in-wall relocation kits, but it works well.

If you are all about a nice and clean installation of television, the Metra - Helios In-Wall Power outlet kit is a must. I hate the look of wires all over the walls and floor. The Metra Outlet relocation kit is practically all that you need to run the cables behind the wall. It comes with the hole saw, fish wire, cables, and the housing for the plug. It is really convenient to have everything in one kit. I hate having to run down to the store to get something that I need for any installation. This Metra kit really is complete for a clean installation. The hole saw made easy work of cutting through the wall. It made a perfect hole to mount the plate. One thing you want to make sure of is that there are no other power lines, or pipes, running through the back of the wall that you are cutting into. YouTube will be your friend if you are new to tasks like this. Once the hole is cut, run the wire using the provided tools and install the wall plates. A simple turn of a screw will secure the mounting tabs behind the drywall and you will be on your way to a more professional looking installation. I would highly recommend the Metra - Helios In-Wall Power outlet relocation kit to anyone.

I don't think I have a TV in my home that isn't mounted to the wall. Adding or moving an outlet so I don't see wires is a pain. Trying to piece together the right components and then make sure you have the correct tools and undoubtedly something is missing and off to the store you go. This Helios kit provides everything needed in one easy to use and convenient package. Once you lay everything out, determine the location of where you want the outlet. Normally, when dealing with a wall mounted TV you want to find the stud to mount to it. In this case, you want to find the stud so you can avoid it. Once the location is set, the kit include a hole saw with a handle that you can manually cut the hole. I opted to attach the saw blade to my drill. After making sure I was not going to hit any electrical wires I put two holes in the wall. Using the included wall snake, I fed through the power cable. The rest was as simple as attaching the connectors and mounting the wall plates. The kit is well thought out and even allows for device cables to be run. Now everything is out of sight and working like a charm.

the Metra - Helios in wall power mover has been a great asset to our home. My husband was able to move a power supply from deep inside a built-in cabinet shelving unit to the middle of the opening. This allowed us to put a TV in a spot that we previously couldn't have. In the past we had a very ugly extension cord reaching from the TV to the plug. Now we have a seamless in wall cord. My husband ripped open the box The second we got it. Checked out the instructions, and went straight to work. He was able to drill the holes, fish it through and get it set up in less than 30 minutes. It was really great that the kit came with its own. Saw. It made it easy to put it on the drill and get to work. My only big con is the fishing wire was a little thin and flimsy for our liking. I wish it was a little sturdier, it would have made the job quite a bit easier. But in all honesty, if that's my only complaint, that's pretty good! I would highly recommend to friends that need their outlets move to a different spot!!!

The Metra Helios In-Wall Power Outlet Relocation Kit is an awesome solution if you need a plug somewhere you don't already have one installed. I used this kit to re-wire the power cords, optical cable, and a few HDMI cables sprawling down the wall from a 65" TV mounted about 4 feet off the floor. Before using the Metra - Helios In-Wall Power Outlet Relocation Kit, I had the power cord and several wires hanging from behind my wall-mounted television and it looked like a mess. This kit solves the solution but does require some "handy" skills. Once you have figured out where you need to have a new outlet located, the installation is relatively straightforward. I do, however, recommend having at least two people to do this type of project as fishing the wires through the wall was a little bit tricky. The power plates are easy to install and the power cord is easy to hide along baseboards. The next part is where it gets to be a little bit tricky as fishing the wires through the holes in the walls is a little bit complicated. I, unfortunately, hit a stud the first time I tried to drill the first hole but was lucky enough to offset it by about an inch so it was going just in to the drywall. I took an extra step in making the holes a little bit larger to accommodate not only the power outlet, but also some HDMI cables and an optical cable to hide behind the TV and the wall down to the lower hole. Overall, I'd give this an A+ rating for anyone looking to relocate a power source (and other wires if you want). All said and done, now, there are no wires visible running from the TV to the cabinet I hav e below the TV. The only visible wire is the power cord along the baseboard which is luckily white and not very noticeable.

    Works Well with Minor Caveats

The Helios Power Outlet Relocating Kit solves an aesthetic problem and it works. Usually, running in-wall wiring for a television or other device require an electrician or a knowledgeable DIYer who is comfortable running Romex and other cables through a wall cavity. The Helios Kit bypasses many of the concerns associated with DIY wiring, and has been well thought out. It’s complete and includes necessary hand tools for cutting into drywall and fishing wires or cables through the wall. The T-handled saw can also be used with a power drill, a convenience. To avoid using Romex or other direct wiring, the system is based on using two extension cords; one from an existing outlet placed laterally to the bottom wall housing, another from the upper to lower opening in the wall. Cutting the opening with the hand saw is doable, but not a lot of fun. With a power drill, it is effortless. As mentioned, this is marketed as a DIY installation and, for folks with a bit of experience, this is fine. I used two additional tools, obviously not provided: an 8’ level and a stud finder. Are these essential? Not for most installations, but a smart Do-It-Yourselfer would certainly want to know what’s in the wall before drilling into it. A stud finder helps and the level insures a neat installation. An exterior wall will likely have insulation which can significantly impeded installing the vertical cord, even with the fish tape. Interior walls could have other electrical, plumbing, or other potential problems not visible from the outside of the wall. If the installation was being attempted in an older home which used plaster and lather, installation would not be possible, and obviously the same if there were horizontal structure in the wall cavity. In sum: Well thought through. Will work for most installations. Takes a tad more than basic DIY skills.

I honestly loved this outlet relocation kit and it worked perfectly for my exact situation. I have hung multiple TVs on walls (both for myself and for friends) and have hid wires behind walls a few times. It is usually labor intesive as I kind of just crash and bashed my way through it. This kit allows you to do it all without actually having to move your recepticle box. My bedroom has a TV mounted on the wall but the cables are everywhere on the wall. It is only my bedroom and we did not care for a few years, but I felt that this kit was the perfect solution as I did not want to get into the electrical here. The kit makes this very simple and contains everything you need to do this. It even has the drill bit needed to perfectly make your hole in the wall for the entry points. It has covers for the entry points both behind the TV and down near the recepticle. It also comes with the power cable that will be run through the wall and with the power cable that will connect the wall cable and be plugged into the outlet. The most valuable tool is also included, and that is the metal "tape" that is used to fish your cables through the wall. This is what I never had in my previous installations and it makes the task super easy. You drill a hole in the wall above the outlet, then a hole in the wall near where your TV is going to be. You need to have a stud finder to make sure you are staying in between two studs. You then fish the power cable and any other cables you need to run behind the wall using the metal tape. I needed to run my ethernet cable since my TV is a smart TV. I also ran a long HDMI cable for my 4k Blue-Ray player. You then attach the hole covers and connect the power cables. This is essentially all you really need to do. The instructions are super easy to follow. I had my entire project done in only a few hours, and that was with several breaks as I was in no rush. I highly recommend this kit if you are looking to hide cables and mount a TV in a room that is not your primary. I just feel that your main TV should have a proper outlet setup. However, anyone can use this kit for any application if they feel fit. I highly recommend!

I hate seeing cords everywhere. Nothing is worse than having cables hanging from the back of your nicely mounted television down the wall detracting from the beauty of your investment!! I always hide my cables, and wanted to give this product a try to see how it compares to the one sold in the big box hardware/retail stores. Opening the box, everything is included with a simple to follow instruction manual. The quality of the tools provided is fine, I am actually impressed the fishing wire is metal instead of plastic like other kits have. The holesaw was easily attached to my drill and after cutting the hole, you just pop in the housing unit, fish your cables and plug it in and voila! I am actually surprised that you can fit 4 HDMI cables through this thing without too much of an issue. The opening looks small but can fit quite a bit. The cord is 9 feet long so you can accommodate pretty much any scenario, if your TV is higher than 9 feet up then something is off... Definitely recommend picking this up and installing it in all your rooms that have TVs mounted for the ease of use and build quality.

    Simplifies hiding wires for non-electricians

Full disclosure: I’m an electrician. People ask me to do this task all the time: hide wires dangling from the TV. I always tell them that I’ll do it, but not sure you want to hire me to do it because I’m more expensive than an unlicensed guy who can perform the same task with one of these kits. In order to accomplish the same function as this kit, I have to open a receptacle and get some romex up the bay to a (measured) rectangular cut out, land the box, splice in to the existing junction (assuming it can handle the additional wiring), and make a new receptacle behind the TV mount. Then I have to cut a new hole for a low voltage bracket near the receptacle and behind the TV and snake low voltage wires and mount finishing plates for those. Not a really hard job but it requires a bunch of materials and tools that I have to put together (jab saw, snake, rings, plates, outlet, etc etc etc) and use for install. This kit makes it easier for me to have everything I need with one hole, integrated cutting tools and rings, zero “real” electrical work involved. Just be aware that outside walls will have insulation in them and might be harder to snake. Excellent for the average homeowner. And I can stick to doing more lucrative, harder stuff.

Once the installation is complete, the Metra Helios In-Wall Power Outlet Relocation Kit is very simple and intuitive to use. The outlet functions just like a standard in-wall outlet, so there's no learning curve or complicated instructions to follow. Simply plug in your electronics and enjoy the benefits of a more convenient outlet location. The kit also includes a screw-on faceplate to cover the electrical box, which adds an extra layer of protection and looks clean and professional. Here are the steps I took to install it: 1. Turn off the power to the outlet you wish to relocate at the circuit breaker. 2. Remove the existing outlet from the wall. 3. Disconnect the wiring from the outlet, and attach the wiring to the provided electrical box. 4. Place the electrical box in the desired location and secure it to the wall using the provided screws. 5. Run the wiring through the provided conduit and connect it to the new outlet. 6. Install the new outlet into the wall and secure it in place. It was not too difficult, but depending on where you are installing, the insulation in the wall may be cumbersome to navigate around. Other than that, I like how everything turned out!

I was excited to use this product as a means to simplify moving outlets. I hate the exposed cord from a mounted TV. I gathered the extra tools needed to get the job done and got started. The included hand saw tool broke immediately as I turned it against the wall so I had to get a ratchet to finish. After that it was a smooth process. The instructions were clear, the outlet plates were secure and sturdy, and the included cords were rated for in-wall installation. Perfect results for my office space. I didn't need the fishing wire they provided to line up the holes, but I'm glad it was in the box. The plate covers snap on really good but it was a pain to line up the holes to snap them, almost as if they weren't drilled properly to begin with. This product has potential to be really useful for quick outlet relocation jobs. Just upgrade the tools and make sure the plates and everything else line up right. As a nitpicky note, I would like to know the rating of the extension cord in case it wore out and I had to get another.

I have been looking for a in-wall power outlet relocation kit for quite some time. i was at a friends house who had one and really liked the clean installation. This kit was exactly what I wanted. The kit had everything you need to install this system. I even liked the owner's manual that had the template you could use for the boxes. The kit came with a fish tape that helps attach the wire and you can then slide it up thru the drywall to the next opening in the drywall. Cutting into the drywall was very easy following the directions. Once you have wired up the new kit I was concerned about video quality but I did not see any issues. I plan on using this in a few other areas in my home to hide the cords that are needed when you try and hang a TV. I would definitely purchase another one or two based on how easy it was after following the directions. The kit comes with everything you need to install the kit. It even came with a drywall saw which was one of my concerns on how to install this kit. If you are concerned about cutting into your drywall this kit will take away all your concerns as it will make your tv look like there are no cords attached.

I was looking for an outlet relocated to extend to be able to plug a tv in where an outlet wasn't. When I first received this outlet relocation, I was intimidated but quickly realized that it looked simple to do. I like the fact that many things came with the kit in order to be able to saw a hole in order to relocate the plug. I have many devices in this room and I needed to move the plug to accommodate the mounted televisions. This worked so well with gathering all of the wires behind the television which in turn gave clean cut look. before I got this wires were all over the floor in a disorganized manner, this cleared that up The opening was wide enough to handle existing HDMI wires as well. This kit is user friendly but the only issue I had was cutting a hole with the tool. Make sure you measure the correct length of the hole and not cut it too big. This is a great kit if you want to relocate and extend an existing plug and it works well behind televisions specifically This is what I used it for.

For years we asked around as to how to hide the wires behind the television so it did not look ridiculous. I wish someone would have told me about this ages ago. It is not the most simple thing to use, but it is doable. The aesthetic is definitely improved without wires dangling. Of course be very careful and aware of what you are doing when playing with electricity. If you have changed an outlet before you can probably handle this project, although it is a bit more tedious. You have to know how to shut off the power supply to the section that you are working on and know how to confirm it is off. That would be my biggest concern about recommending this product. I grew up changing out plugs and light switches and have still gotten zapped a few times so it is a dangerous thing to play with. I’m sure a good directional video can assist most people on getting through this process. It is nice to now that I can move things on my own and not have to hire an electrician for every minor project.
