This camera's image quality is seriously lacking for its price. For $100, go with a different camera. I returned and went with the Pioneer ND-BC8 for the same price. Attached are comparisons of the two cameras at night.

Excellent option for vehicles without a backup cam

I have an older large SUV and wanted a backup camera but was worried about the cost. This unit was about $100 and it is worth it. I'm now able to see what is behind me, especially things that are below the rear window. The lines are excellent guides when parking and show how close I am. The picture is excellent even at night. The guide lines move when I turn the wheel so I know exactly where my vehicle is going. The view is in color. I wish I had gotten this camera long ago. I had Best Buy do the installation. The technician did an excellent job and went over the details to make sure I knew how this camera worked. There is nothing actually to do. The camera is activated when the vehicle is put into reverse. It goes off when the vehicle is put in drive. I wish there was an option to keep it on while driving forward so that it could be used as an addition to the rearview mirror.

I have it on my truck and it works well enough to see what's behind me since I have a lift on it. Camera has led light on it, but led light is on all the time (for me anyways) whenever I turn on the truck. Again only when the truck is on. Other than that, it's not gonna drain your battery. But I wouldn't trust the "tracking lines". Use your own better judgement and use safe driving techniques like using your mirrors and all that. Id say that with any backup camera is to always look behind ya. The field of view isn't bad, again I like to see what's behind me with either hooking up to a hitch or just backing up on the drive way to avoid hitting any pedestrians. Pretty average back up camera if your looking for something to see behind you. Again don't depend on it for your sole visual of backing up into spots and such. For installation, the wire runs underneath the car from the front. I had best install it. Just make sure once installed they run it correctly through. First time installed they ran it through the hole where you put the spare tire bar through to lower it and when taking It to discount tires, they pinched the wire from the weight of the bar while cranking and turning to lower the tire they cut off the wiring. So there ya have it.

    Works fine on 2008 Tundra

Installed this on a 2008 Tundra. The device requires tapping into the rear reverse tail-light for power (I used t-taps), which then includes a wire to connect to the +12v "Reverse" wire on the head unit so that the camera is activated only on reverse along with an RCA video cable for the head unit. Those are the only connections/wires to be made on the head-unit side. The opposite side of the RCA connects to the camera. There was just enough wire to route under my truck and into the cab, and I maybe had about 6" of slack left. Overall the install was relatively simple and straight-foward. I also added a black license plate frame so that the camera blends in better, but I had to get the thinnest frame possible as the camera "hook" doesn't have a large gap to fit over a thick license plate frame, and the more that gap is taken up, the less room there is to adjust the camera tilt. Ine solution might be to mount the camera in front of the license plate frame, but that defeats the purpose of this particular design. The camera instantly activates when reverse is engaged, as it should. The video is clear overall, and the night-vision works well enough. However, the video has randomly flickered for me a handful of times in the 3 weeks I've had it. It isn't excessive and hasn't caused any problems as I don't completely rely on the camera when I go in reverse. My truck is lifted so it's helpful for me to initially check what's behind me before I turn my head to reverse. I've checked the connections and made sure everything was good, so I don't know if it's my head unit, a pinch in the wire somewhere, or the camera itself. But for less than $100, I'm happy enough to be able to add a modern feature to my truck.

Outstanding Backup Camera with Great Features

This backup camera is amazing. Very clear picture in the daytime AND, with the 4 LEDs to light the rear view area, a VERY CLEAR Picture at Night. It is also one of the few models of backup cameras that has the Assist Lines built into the camera instead of relying on the, in dash, Head Unit to provide those guide lines. The included license plate mounting bracket makes it easy and secure to mount to the back of the car. I had the Best Buy technician install the camera in my Corvette and he was excellent. I've only had the camera a few days so I cannot speak to the longevity of the product, but at this time I highly recommend this camera for its features and value.

This is a great addition to an older car that is difficult to see out the back of. I really like the adjustability of the limes that show up on the screen to help you back into parking places. It mountains discreetly in the back and gives an excellent Picture

We added this back-up camera when we upgraded the factory stereo to a stereo with back-up camera capabilities. The images are crisp and clear whether it is daytime or nighttime. The "active parking lines" are not always accurate and slow to react to direction change. Overall, we are happy with the B/U camera since our car did not have one. If I had it to do over, I would get the B/U camera without the "active parking lines".

Good picture, albeit a tiny bit dark. I do recommend this camera wholeheartedly. Details are SHARP near and far, good visibility after dark, and the directional and distance markers are very helpful when backing up. Great product!

The current back-up camera failed and I needed a replacement. Best Buy Auto has done work for me in the past so. I returned to see what they could do for a replacement. They suggested a replacement that fit over the top of the license plate even with the plate frame. Looks and performs VERY nicely and the installation was speedy and professional. Thank you for your continued good work. The replacement camera gives a much better picture than the failed one.

I did purchase a Pioneer Camera to go with my Pioneer Radio (AVIC - w8400NEX), but Best Buy installers recommended I go with the iBeam license plate mount. The camera has good images and works great with my radio. There are LEDs that are always on when driving but other than that it works good.

I am glad to have picked this backup camera. It displays crystal clear, and has night vision so it's bright to view just like daytime. I wish it had the backup sound to let you know when you're getting to close to another car or object. It does have the green, yellow, red lines to let you know when you're getting too close to the other car or object.

pretty good price for a decent camera. i have two minor complaints here: the steering bars are delayed and somewhat jarring & i turned it downwards as much as i could but it still seems to be angled a bit too high. could be an installation error as i drive a very short compact car. otherwise, it gets the job done

Very easy to install looks great in the day time and ok at night. If you have a light over your license plate it helps when In night mode. I like that the guide lines turn when the vehicle turns. If I’m not mistaken the camera is stationary and can’t be adjusted up or down but works well the way it is.

Four very small but bright LED lights, great vision at night time as well as day time. Has active parking lines built in the camera which help when backing into a space. The camera can be turned different directions fairly easily for adjustments which can be a good thing or bad thing. Installation took roughly an hour at Best Buy. The person who installed the camera removed something I placed in my vehicle with gorilla tape and stuck it in a different location and failed to mention it. It would have to be pried off in order to be removed. Overall good camera.
