    Works great for Pro

When I got the surface pro, I was disappointed in the klunky power supply. Has a separate power cord to go from the power supply to the wall, and I like this one, designed more like the Macbook Pro power supplies I'm used to these last three years. So when I saw the lower power one for the RT, and verified from the MS documentation that it will work with the Pro, I decided to get a couple of them so I could leave chargers at work and at home, and have one for the bag. The charger physically is smaller, and the only length you lose is that extra power cable needed from the brick to the outlet on the larger version - the cable from the brick to the Surface is the same length. And in most cases the lack of that extra foot or so of other cable is offset since this one doesn't have to then drop to the ground since that's where the larger power supply has to sit. With the cable coming straight off the wall at home using this one, I have the same reach since I don't have the power supply getting pulled down by gravity to sit on the floor under the power supply (or being forced to be suspended in mid-air). I wasn't too concerned with it taking longer to charge the surface since I'm generally near an outlet if I need to use one, but my testing has proven that it's not even a concern. It took my Surface Pro just under 2.5 hours with the supplied larger power supply to recharge from the couple percent "won't turn on anymore" point to a full 100% battery. When I tried it again with the RT smaller power supply, it took me the same amount of time. I haven't done any testing yet on the tablet in use while charging, since that may be the scenario where it doesn't charge as fast, but that's not a concern for me anyway since in that situation I'd have power supplied to it regardless of which supply I am using so if it charged faster or slower wouldn't be an issue for me. So for the fact that it charges a sleeping Pro just as fast as the original larger power supply while having a much smaller and easily carried form factor, this is a definite win.

Great compact/Travel alternative for Surface Pro

NOTE: I'm using this for the Surface Pro (not the RT) As is the case with other reviewers - the huge size of the charger that comes with the Surface PRO (48W version) makes it a little cumbersome for light travel. Yes, it's not a big deal in a regular laptop bag, but for daily commuting, I prefer to travel as light as possible. I have a very slim satchel that I purchased for my Surface Pro and there's not a whole lot of space left over after i slide in the tablet. So I decided to buy this one for daily commuting, and leave the bigger 48W version for home use. Long story short, it works - the foldable prongs and single cord make it compact and easier to carry (p.s there's no second cord that goes from the brick to the outlet, so it's slightly shorter - but that's not too bad considering that the smaller power-brick actually enters the socket as opposed to hanging in the air and dragging down the cord) As far as speed of charging - I did notice it took about an hour longer, give or take, than the 48W in sleep mode while charging from 6% (almost dead) to 100%. But for the life me, I couldn't get it to charge to 100% from 6% while the tablet is on. I was about to return it, when I decided to test the 48W one (charging from 6%) and it actually has the same problem on my tablet - gets to about 79% and stalls charging (the icon still shows charging, but it stays at that percentage for hours, no gain). In both cases, I had just turned the tablet on, and switched to desktop-mode, no extra applications running. When I turn the tablet off, in both cases, it continues charging to 100% - therefore the inability to go to 100% while the PC is on, seems to be tied to power-use of the tablet itself. (Also note, if you're already at 100%, and keep the charger on, it still stays that way) Conclusions? It's worth buying as a second, travel-friendly cable for your Surface Pro - you pay half the price of the 48W version and get more portability out of it.

Great Travel Charger for Surface RT and PRO

I am just writing this review to answer a question that I had before purchasing this product. Can this work on my Surface Pro? Despite all of the marketing material to the contrary, the answer is Yes. I made the gamble for 4 reasons. 1. Best Buy did not have the Pro Charger yet. 2. The RT charger was 1/2 the cost of the Pro. 3. The RT charger was smaller and better suited as a Travel charger. 4. My assumption is that the engineers would not have made the charge port the same size and shape if they were not made to work together. Turns out, I was right on all accounts. This will charge your device more slowly, but even while using it, the charger keeps up and continues to charge the device while powering it at the same time. No complaints and I saved money in the process.

In total I have owned three of these in the three years I have owned my surface. I like that they are magnetic and that they are not very intrusive. But what I don't like about them is that the cord is really short and fragile. As I mention this is my third. Granted it's the only one you can get so you have to put up with it but it is really annoying. The first one I got, which came with my surface, the cord got finicky one day and then about a month later it stopped working, the second one just stopped working one day and it had nothing to do with the cable (I found out later after I cracked it open that it had a plug that came loose and when I plugged it back in it worked great). This last one has held up pretty good. I just hope that the newer surfaces cords have better construction.

This 24 watt charger is slower than the 48 watt charger, but it's good as a backup at work where I'm not in a hurry to charge, and I'm happy to leave my Surface on the charger all day. But I wish there was a different kind of connection rather than the magnet thingy. And I wish I could move the connection the left side of the Surface so the cord is not in the way when electric outlet is to my left side. But it's still great, and it's way better than the old days when the only gadgets we had were mechanical pencils and slide rules.

I had the original charger that unfortunately got damaged . I was looking for reasonable options without trying to get something cheap that might potentially damage my Surface pro2 . The only option was this charger . It coated me around $33 with tax . It is working perfectly but not like the one I had coming with the surface . First , it is short winch makes movement restricted . Second and most important , it takes for ever to charge it .

We lost the charger to our Microsoft "Surface" tablet on a recent trip. We were happy to be able to quickly purchase a replacement charger at our local Best Buy. It took all of 5 minutes in the store. A sales rep was immediately available & knew exactly where the replacement chargers were located. He handed it to us & we were on our way to the checkout. Once home, we connected it to our Surface & were back in business. Thanks Best Buy!

I ordered this surface charger to have at another location so that I wouldn't have to carry the one that came with it when I was at the other place. It works as good as the one that came with the surface originally. It came within a couple of days which was great. I may opt to buy yet another like this in the future. I would recommend the cord to anyone who needs a second cord.

I bought this adapter so I'd have one to keep in my travel bag. The only drawback to this adapter is that it doesn't have a USB port for charging other devices. However, it works great as a home charger for my Surface Pro, and I keep the original adapter with the USB port in my travel bag. The price is a bit higher than third-party adapters, but much more reliable!!

I needed 2 additional chargers for my Surface Pro so I purchased 2 of these adapters. They were not advertised for the Surface Pro, but they work great for it for travel. They charge it, but you do not have the USB port like on the larger adapter. I got 2 adapters for the price of 1 large one.

My dog chewed my power cord and I needed a new one. Looked on Amazon and best buy. Busy buy was cheaper. The only issue I had was it wouldn't charge at first but I restarted my computer and did a couple upgrades and I was good to go...sad part is I'm about to buy another one as my dog desided to chew it again! I think I have learned my lesson for the second time.

A necessary accessory for an electronic devise. You don't really have a choice here - a cord is a cord. What would make this better would be if it had an attached Velcro strap so you can bind it up when not in use and for easy packing. It does light up though, when its attached correctly to the Surface - letting you know that power is flowing.

OEM Charger for Surface RT 1st Gen

I needed an extra Charger for my Surface RT and this did the trick - Works as advertised only thing I did not like was the fact that its a proprietary plug - meaning I can't detach the surface end and plug it into a USB connector (would have been nice to also charge it in the USB connector in the car) But that's a Microsoft design Flaw.

My daughter lost the power cord to her brand new surface....I was thrilled to find that the Porter Ranch, CA store had one in stock. My local store in Simi Valley did not have it in stock. The staff was wonderful, and I was in and out of the store in 10 minutes. The power cord works well, just like the original that came with the unit.

It has standard plastic cord, not professional braided cable, so don't expect it to survive abuse. Length is reasonable to charge tablet sitting on desk, obviously you can't walk around house with it. You can connect it either way which is sometimes handy depending on how you orient tablet. It fully charge in about 2 hours.

Not a bad power supply - but part of a power connection scheme on the Pro 2 that was so badly designed. If the power connection to the tablet was not an accident waiting to happen, I would have never needed a replacement power supply/cord for a relatively new device.

It's the same one you get with your Windows Surface tablet. There are many like it, but this one is mine, and it works as well as can be expected. Dutifully chargers the tablet, doesn't magically fix the glaring issues with Windows Surface 1 tablet though, boo.

This is a good substitute for plugging into a second location, other than the original. The associate insisted that it had the same capacity as the one that came with my Surface, but it take twice as long to charge. Associate must not know his products.

I had the cord for the Pro 1. This was different because it didn't have the power adapter so it's shorter and didn't have the USB port, which was on the adapter. Considering the benefits, I don't think it would be too much to at least include a USB port?

This product performed as required. I had no problem finding this item. Helpful staff not much more to say but had to put at least 50 characters. So I am just rambling on so I can get my rewards points. This is so silly and I have nothing else to say.
