I've been using this product extensively for about a week now, since I've been typing up papers for school. The pros of this product is mainly the keyboard. It's ergomonic and easy to customize. Very comfortable to type on, although it does take some getting used to with the curve design and different sized keys, but well worth the effort. Another plus is the quietness of the keyboard while typing compared to others. There's this softness to the keys that makes typing so great. The extra multimedia buttons on the hand feel a bit cheap, but I don't use them much if at all anyway. The mouse is comfortable to hold and is pretty good with people with big hands. Simple left and right click with a smooth scroll wheel and forward and backward buttons on the sides (all customizable with software). The mouse is fitted with laser technology. I'm currently using it on a smooth white slippery surface and the tracking if very accurate. No jumping or erratic movement. By the way, the mouse gives you an option to use one battery, which is great also. And there's no red light since it's laser technology. It's invisible. The only lights that show up are on the reciever and if your keyboard is running out of battery. The quality of the material is quite good. The cons include mainly the wireless connection or erratic-behaviors between the mouse and keyboard and the receiver. For some reason, the receiver seems to be really shoddy. However, once you find a sweet spot or distance between your mouse & keyboard and the receiver, the connection stays pretty solid. I have my reciever taped behind my computer table where it is not visible and the connection seems to be more solid that way. It's about 2-3 feet away from the mouse & keyboard and for the last couple of days, no connection weakness/drops. Overall, I would give it a 4/5. Not the best mouse and keyboard I've used and the wireless connection can be bad at times. But so far, not too bad.

    Performance problems

I purchased this to replace my logitech wireless keyboard and mouse and I am now typing this on my logitec wireless keyboard and mouse. Installation was difficult as you have to get rid of the prior keyboard and mouse software and my system didn't want to let go (you would think Microsoft would know how to get rid of other peoples software). After booting in safe mode and removing everything, things finally installed. I found a severe problem with the scrolling mouse wheel. I would spin this multiple times and there would be a second or two before the screen would scroll. I have two systems that I use with the same keyboard and mouse through a KVM and the other system did not have this problem as it was still using the logitech keyboard and mouse software. I have to conclude that the Microsoft S/W can't handle the feature set and you get a sluggish mouse. I am returning this product and I have gone back to my logitech.

This is a wonderful keyboard for a very short while, I went through two of these keyboards in the span of about one year. The first one froze on the letter 'e' after about 4 months. Fortunately the retailer exchanged it at no charge. The second one lasted a bit longer before it quit for no apparent reason. I tried everything I could think of to get it going again but noting worked. I installed new top-grade batteries, reloaded the software, checked for stuck keys, etc. Nothing worked. There is no problem with the mouse, that still works fine, but if the only thing that lasts on this set-up is the mouse, then it's a very expensive mouse. I replaced this defective keyboard with another Microsoft wireless product that I have been very satified with, so I am not speaking ill of all m/s products - just this one

Many people comment about the ergonomics be great, however I feel it is a down side. I used the keyboard and mouse combo for about three months and I still can’t get used to the layout. The signal on the keyboard keeps warning me that the signal is getting low but it never disconnects. This is just a slight inconvenience because to the troubleshooting window that pops up. As for the mouse, no complaints, feels good and works great. Overall this keyboard would be a good buy at about half the price.

After several days of use it started giving me problems with keys sticking or not working, especially the left shift key and left control button; I changed the batteries but it didn't help. I decided to pair another Microsoft keyboard with the receiver, one that I know works, to see if it was the keyboard or the receiver; evidently it's the receiver because the same problems occured. If Microsoft fixes the receiver it's a great keyboard and mouse, otherwise stay away.

I use this for my Media Center PC in my living room and it works great from the couch which is about 10 feet away from the machine and TV. I do like having the Instant Viewer software as well. It makes it easy to switch between windows.

I returned this product as the keyboard was not responding -the mouse responded appropriately. I didn't think to check the reciever as an earlier reviewer did. In any case, didn't want to mess with it and returned this keyboard.

Excellent product and I will highly recommend it, the extra buttons on the keyboard makes it easy to launch several applications with the touch of a button.

Very frustrating keyboard because it does not work. The keys get stuck or lag. Do not buy this keyboard. It is terrible.
