The left joystick doesn't work and it doesn't left me sprint in games like cod and fortnite and the bumpers are too close together so whenever I click the top one the bottom one also clicks.

These controllers are great but I kind of regret my purchase of a refurbished one as the stick was kind of messed up.

I was really on the fence about ordering a refurbished controller based on the other reviews, but I decided to go for it. Upon opening the box my controller shipped in I was relieved to see that I had received the carrying case unlike so many others and the controller itself appeared to be in almost perfect condition. Unfortunately, closer inspection soon revealed that both analog sticks on the controller were loose. It doesn't seem to have any negative gameplay effect, but it makes me question how "refurbished" this controller actually is. In addition, my unit came with duplicate parts and was missing others. I received two cross d-pads and no rounded one, and I received two sets of the long thumbsticks and no short ones. All of this should have made me frustrated enough to return the unit, but there's one other thing worth mentioning...the controller is great. I bought it specifically for FPS games and after a brief learning period to get used to the trigger stops and paddles I feel like I could never go back to a standard controller. I ended up ordering some replacement parts for what I was missing and keeping the controller. So the moral of the review is: Set your expectations accordingly and you might end up happy with your purchase. Know that there's a good likelihood that your controller might have minor issues or might be missing parts.

The money saved did not outweigh the negatives.

Was excited to receive the item; certified refurbished and saving money. Was quickly let down as the received item was in poor condition. It was obvious that the controller had been used very heavily for a long period of time, then was somehow returned. Although conjecture, It would appear that 2-year warranty controllers are being resold as refurbished. The'refurbishing' process did not adequately address the issues with the received controller. The unit had extensive wear in every aspect; grip wear, body chips, stick drift, buttons stick when depressed, etc.. The item did come with a new set of paddles and magnetic sticks. There were clear indicators that a liquid was spilled on the controller as residue was apparent when looking closely. Item was returned to a local BB and a new controller was purchased. In my instance, the money saved did not outweigh the controllers issues and substantially degraded my gaming experience.

My old plain Xbox controller was getting stick drift and the RB button had broken off so it was about time to purchase a new one. Conveniently, these Refurb Elites were on sale at about the time my other controller broke down. It's a hard deal to pass up! You can get the Elite Refurb and the 2 year plan for less than a new Elite without the plan. This is definitely a plus! And the 2 year plan is a MUST if you buy this controller new or Refurb. They simply have too much quality control issues to cheap out and not protect your investment so I implore you to heavily consider the 2 year replacement plan. Shipping was fast, came in 4 days faster than originally projected. When it arrived, I opened it up to see what Refurb really meant. I was not blown away. Everything was in the box which was good but the controller was pretty nasty. Tons of dirt and grime in the thumbstick rubber as well as the grooves on the handles. The carrying case was full of pet hair and dander as well. Not sure if a small cat was using it as a house or what. So, I took about 30 minutes to thoroughly clean the controller and case with some of my detailing gear and it looked tons better. The only other issues after cleaning were a fairly large scratch on the RB button and the larger right paddle is loose and doesn't sit flush with the contact button on the underside. Everything else was just fine though! No stick drift after firing it up and all buttons function as well. TL;DR - Remember that you are buying a refurb and expect some small issues, wear and tear etc. Especially given the reputation of these controllers. BUT, all that aside if you can find a refurb on sale with Best Buy's incredible (and mandatory as far as I'm concerned) protection plan then jump on it!
