Worked like a champ, unlike Surface Pro 3!

Unlike the Surface Pro 3 which had a dysfunctional and non-fixable wireless adapter out of the box, this product worked great. I am DISAPPOINTED in the fact that Microsoft doesn't provide this adapter with the Surface Pro!! Had no way to even connect to the internet to see if the problem was due to updates. Keyboard stopped working also but I was able to get updates, when finally connected to internet by this ethernet adapter, that fixed that issue. Not pleased with Microsoft! All is well now though with new replacement Surface Pro 3. Headache.

The next best thing to having a built-in adapter.

Unfortunately the Surface Pro will never have a built-in ethernet adapter due to it's size, so if you have to have a connection to ethernet (without using the dock) this should be the only choice. The drivers are pre-installed into the operating system so all you have to do is plug it in and go, I can't say that with other USB to ethernet options I've used in the past. Yes, it is more expensive than other options on the market but you will have less headaches using this with a Surface Pro.

This device that I actually purchased was a USB-to-Ethernet adapter for my Surface Pro, which enables me to connect my Surface Pro directly to an Ethernet port (instead of using wifi) to access the Internet. This adapter is very portable and is ideal for taking on trips and using in hotel rooms where an Ethernet port is available. A separate Ethernet cable is needed to connect from the adapter to an Ethernet port.

I've had 3 HDMI dongles so far as colleagues "borrow" them. The generic versions do work. However, they are just a bit wider than the Microsoft original which causes problems using it beside the power nub as the extra width won't allow it to sit properly and therefore doesn't quite make the connection to charge. Definitely worth spending a little extra to have the perfect fit.

I typically use a wireless connection however the location I found myself in had a weak wireless signal. My best friend for the best electronics, Best Buy, was just a couple of miles away. This USB to Ethernet cable was right on time. I simply plugged it in and a couple of clicks later, I was downloading emails once again.

At my school the wifi is always bogged down by too many users, so I needed a way to connect my surface pro 2 to the Ethernet. This is an easy solution and it works well. The reviews on the cheaper alternatives said there were some problems on the Pro models, so I got this one to make sure it would work.

I needed a couple of these quickly and the Microsoft brand was the only brand available in the store. There isn't anything fancy about these devices, and this simply does what it's supposed to do. But the ethernet end is much longer and more bulky than other brands.

I needed to connect my Surface Pro 4 to a wired ethernet connection and this adapter worked for me. Either the drivers were built into the operating system, or my Surface Pro was connected to WiFi so it downloaded the required drivers when I plugged this adapter in.

I bought this adapter to use with my Surface Pro 4 when I wanted a faster than wifi, or didn't have access to a wifi connection. Easy plug & play. Fast connection. No issues. The on-sale BestBuy price was better than anywhere I had seen as well. No regrets

This adapter is pricey for a USB Ethernet adapter, but it is reliably compatible with the Surface Pro, and the attached cable is more Surface-friendly than a USB dongle plugged in directly (though you can use a separate pigtail, of course). For the price, its nice.

I purchased this device so that I can plug my Surface computer into a network cable when Wi-Fi wasn't available. It works perfectly, I get gigabit speed, and I am very happy with it. I recommend it to all who need a network cable plug.

Works as described. I purchased it for those times when only a hardliner connection is available. There were times when I was setting up a new router or modem, and the only way to set it up was to connect it with a hardline.

This item is a necessity for any Surface user. While Wi-Fi is prevalent anywhere you go, I have found myself in situations in which an Ethernet connection is the only thing available. Go out and get this adapter.

my laptop does not have an Ethernet connection. So this adapter is very useful when I need to connect my laptop directly to the server at work. Once I set the IP address, its good to go. Very happy with this purchase.

This is the trade off with having a thin laptop like the Microsoft Book. I love the device so I carry things like this in my bag just in case i need to hard wire anywhere. Works great and is nice and sleek.

Some times, it is faster to hook directly into a hotel's wired internet, when available. Most hotel wifis are very slow and intermittent. This is an easy way to connect through ethernet wire - and it's plug n play.

I wanted to connect my Surface Pro 4 to my home network. No RJ45 connection on the Surface Pro 4. This solves the issue perfectly. Just attach one end to the Hub and the other end to CAT6 network cable.

It does what it should, but is honestly overpriced in my opinion. Microsoft kind of has you against the wall with these dongles. You have no choice, but for a business user they are a must, so......

A great accessory to have with you when traveling. Many hotels still offer ether net in the rooms and when the Internet slows down because of the number of guests logged in, this provides a great alternative.
