I will never buy another product from BestBuy.

I ordered this through the mail because I didn't want to stand in BestBuy's notoriously long lines. But when I tried to install the product, it said the pin number I was using wasn't valid. Called Microsoft, they told me to call BestBuy. Called BestBuy, and they sent me through five different departments-no one knew who I was supposed to talk to. Took an hour. Finally, one woman in Geek Squad said she knew what to do, she had to reactivate it. I tried the pin again, still didn't work. I called GeekSquad again, spent another hour on the phone. This time they said I had to wait 48 hours. Waited, still didn't work. Called again, they said, "Oh, you have to go to the store." Went to the store, GeekSquad said, "I'll just give you a new one." Took the new pin number, tried over the course of a week to install it, didn't work. Went back to GeekSquad, they said, "Sorry, not my problem, you have to wait in THAT line." Pointed to the line that had 20 people in it with one person helping. NEVER AGAIN. Took the loss and went to Office Depot, bought the same product, works fine, will never go to Best Buy again!!

    Another Micro$oft ripoff

After using the software I soon found out it has very limited functionality as compared to the full blown Office suites. It would not play macros in Excel and suggested I should upgrade. This meant I had to shell out another $110 just to get the next level of Office. Since paying for it online I have not been able to get it to install with the new key given me by Miro$soft. Only way to contact them is during normal business hours (no weekend support) or email. I chose to email them since it was a Friday evening and hoped to resolve it quickly. The automated reply from M$ stated it would take 5-7 business days for a response! The next day I got an email stating they had resolved and closed the ticket. After almost 2 weeks I have not been able to talk to a real live person about the issue. The made sure to get my money though. Micro$soft is the worst when in comes to support. This is not my first time having problems with that company. All in all I would say stay away from Micro$oft products if you can.

Must-have software, but bad online purchase exp.

Frankly, t's annoying to me that any desktop or laptop computer DOESN'T come with Microsoft Office Home and Student 2010 pre-loaded. To me, it's like selling a car without a steering wheel. That said, I believe this software is a must-have for anyone using their computer for anything more demanding than mah-jhong or online gaming. My software disk, purchased from Best Buy online, arrived quickly and undamaged. Unfortunately, someone at the distribution end had scewed up and hadn't activated my particular disk before shipping it to me. This proved to be a an extremely annoying omission that seriously inconvenienced me. I had no recourse but to drive to my local Best Buy, wait in an endless line at customer service, then exchange the disk I had purchased by mail, receive a refund, then purchase another which the CSR then activated for me. Once this annoying and unnecessary routine had been completed, I was able to return home and install the software without further incident.

    Extraordinarily difficult to download.

After obtaining my number from Microsoft on the internet to download Windows, Microsoft would not recognize the number as legitimate. The alpha-numeric sequence was quite long. I put it in again and again. Finally, by luck, I copied the sequence from the internet rather thanput in the numbers and letters myself. This worked. I had made no mistake, but Microsoft would recognize only a copied version of the "number" and not the exact, same sequence entered from my keyboard. This operation took hours. After the programs were installed it was difficult to find them, because scrolling through "all programs" by the product name "Microsoft Windows" consistently sent me to the starter programs rather than those I had purchased, so I thought they had not been installed and tried to start over again. I will never buy such a product from Microsoft again, nor will I buy a computer from a company that can only offer me such a product. There is no excuse for such a terrible product delivery system.

I bought this online at the time that I bought my computer. I did not realize it was not available for in-store pickup, and that it would be mailed to me separately. That said, it did show up in 4 days. There is nothing necessarily special about this offering of Office. It is still the same great collection of programs. However, I will warn you that this is a certificate only, and requires you go online to activate the software, and that the software is installed on your new computer only. If you are buying this for an existing computer that does not have the preinstalled office package, you need to buy the full software version available in Bestbuy stores.

Returned for 3 computer install package

I actually returned this soon after I got it because after both my mom and I bought new computers (Windows, both from Best Buy) we both wanted Microsoft Office and no way were we going to buy another $100 single computer key code. So we exchanged this for the 3 computer code and used that instead. It was on sale at the time for basically the same price as the single key code, so we got lucky! If the installation of this is the same as the 3 computer one, its easy and pretty fast to install and have all ready to go! I really like Microsoft Office and I wish it would come as standard on computers... It'd make life so much easier! I would recommend it only if you have a single computer you need it for. If you have more than one computer, get the one for 3 computers! much easier.

    Activation a pain

I purchased this not realizing it was the single user license card and not the full product, which includes disks and 3 users. It was not clear form the website. The activation was a pain. What they give you is an obscenely long "PIN" and force you to register on Windows Live to get your activation key. The whole process took me longer to do than it would have been to install from a disk. Overall the Windows Office product is a decent product but the initial frustration lowered my overall product rating.

The student pack comes with OneNote which is amazing for taking notes during class. You can create separate tabs for each class and then add extra subdivisions within that tab. You can also print things to OneNote and type/draw anywhere on the page. It has been very useful thus far and I wish I had it while I was an undergrad. Other than that it's your typical office package. Word and Excel are great when you know how to use them for your benefit. The only thing that was frusterating is that I could only install it on one computer. I had to return my computer and get a new one and when I went to install Office I had to call the phone number.

Easy to learn and use this version of Word. You can change lots of things (like sorting, font size, centering or justification, etc.) right from the toolbar. We had a problem trying to download from the web, though, since we live out in the boonies and our DSL is slow. It estimated 8 hours to download, and after 5 hours it "timed out" and we would have had to start over. We ended up having to take the computer and the program into the Geek Squad to have them load it for us. It took them literally a few minutes. If you have slow download speeds, spend the extra few dollars and get the multi-computer version which comes with a CD you can download!

I didn't have an Account, and I couldn't create an Account because I got a script error. I had to get a Geek Squad employee to retrieve a Product Key. He printed it with "instructions" to press HERE. A lot of good that did me when I got home. I had to go back to the store and get the same guy, who did show me what to do on a store PC like the one I bought. Why can't you just provide a disk to install the software? Entering a 27 character entry to get a 25 character Product Key seems just stupid to me. Are you worried about pirating? There is only one license on the card, so what is the risk? Two extra trips to the store and keying in 52 alpha-numeric characters is rediculous. Microsoft should be able to do better than that.

Even though it came pre-installed on the notebook, I had to buy the activation key code - no problem. But in order to activate it you have to go back and forth from the web site to your email, back to the web site for the next step. Pretty ridiculous, really. Also, not compatible with other MS Office versions, making it very difficult to send documents to others who don't have the same version. I can't even send myself a document at work because my office hasn't bought this new version. Come on! MS Word and Excel should be readable in either location!!

I needed office outlook. I HAD TO BUY THE OTHER PROGRAM I ADDITION....I was told I needed this program for mail...Later I realized I only had a trial of Office Outlook. I was disappointed in the sales associate for selling it to me. I needn't have spent the extra money. I have no need for the program I got. I called Best Buy and they told me as long as I had put it on my computer they could only update to a business program, costing me about $150 more. I don't have money to buy things I don't need. I am disappointed in the Best Buy associate. I will be more wary of Best Buy purchases in the future.

I LOVE Microsoft Office. We homeschool, so we find a lot of uses - typing essays, keeping track of grades, making schedules, and (my personal favorite) Power Point presentations! This is not only a great teaching tool. It is also a great way for students to show what they have learned in a creative way. They get to add photos, animation, sound, etc. We have also used it to make Jeopardy games to quiz what we've learned. BEWARE! The product key card only works for 1 computer. I purchased 2 computers at once, and was not given the option to buy the disk (which works on 3 computers). I returned the key card at Best Buy, and they gave me $20 off the disk since I had purchased a computer.

Not as bad as what I read

I was really worried when I started reading reviews about this product, and it's not as bad as I thought it was going to be, put in the code then just write down the number it gives you and then input the item code, it takes time but it's not hard to set up. Just read the directions carefully and you won't have any problems...However it will take sometime to download everything, took me about 25-35 minutes to download but I just set the computer down and found something else to do. it is nicer having the cd but it could of still taken that long since you'd still have to download updates so it's potat- potatoe to me.

Most time consuming & complex product for home use

I use to correct or change things quickly and easily with my old MS Office programs-like simple spread sheets, writing letters, creating templates for recipes, even setting up multiple folders but now one must go through multiple steps with too many choices that absolutely wear you out. The trial & errors you have popup just to do something as simple as creating an envelope. I absolutely hate this product and will get rid of it as soon as I can find an old version. I have discussed this with other friends and they too say it is timeconsuming and has a lot of unnecessary steps while the ease of the older version(2003) was so easy and simple.

I purchased Microsoft Office 2010 Home and Student. I decided to keep my office Outlook 2003 professional, Outlook was not included in the package and I thought My outlook 2003 was safe. Microsoft copied a temporary copy of Outlook 2010 over my Outlook 2003 Professional without my knowledge. I see little change from Outlook 2003 to Outlook 2010 and now I MUST buy Outlook 2010 or put in manny hours to keep from loosing my e-mail.

I dislike this product emensly. It doesn't have the same fonts as earlier versions of microsoft office. When it does convert documents, they are messed up and you have to go through them line by line to fix them. It keeps trying to send my print documents to printers I don't even have installed on my computer. Everything about using it seems like a chore. If you share a document with someone who has an older version of microsoft, it takes a long time for the document to open and then the person can only read it, they cannot download it and make changes. Unfortunately, if you want to share documents, there seems to be no other choice of product to use.

I did not inspect the version that I purchased, so this is my fault. I told the salesman that i would need office for my new computer and had told him when I was purchasing the laptop that it was an emergency purchase since i would be traveling within the week and needed to check my e-mail. I had mentioned that i needed to get Outlook onto the laptop ASAP, and he sold me the version of Office without Outlook. I did not notice until after I had opened the card for the pin number. Yes, it was my fault, but I'm disappointed. Not worth the price since the upgraded version is less than purchasing this and outlook as a stand alone program.

software is pre-installed. first time opened tells you that is a 30-day trial period. Enter registration information, online accepts key, software continues to say 30-day trial period as it counts down the 30 days and some functions are not available on trial version. at end of 30 days, product recognizes registration and is fully functional. this has happened several times on several computers, so expect it and you won't be mad and even more so when you spend hours trying to get phone help from a real person who speaks english...
