    Dubious quality

It's an alright mouse. Not worth the ~$80 price tag it originally sported. The size is nice given that the trend for most other mice is to be micro sized. Quality is obviously an issue as my scroll wheel button has stopped functioning after just four months of use. Unfortunately I can't find the receipt so I can't take advantage of the 3 year warranty offered by Microsoft. DPI switching seemed like a neat feature at first but it proved to be gimmicky. It's not terribly useful in game and irritating to get set up. Weights and interchangeable feet also turned out to be gimmicky and pointless. There's virtually no difference between the different sets of feet on any surface I've tried. The over under side buttons are positioned well, much better than forward back configuration on other mice but are prone to unintended clicks. I much preferred the buttons on opposite sides of the mouse like MS used to make. Much more convenient and never created a false click situation. In all it's an OK mouse but there are several others by different manufacturers that feel and perform much better. If it weren't for my preference to the Microsoft software and the magnify function I would have chosen a different mouse.

Great mouse to add to the collection

I purchased this mouse to add to my collection of gaming peripherals. I was skeptical at first, because, after all, Microsoft doesn't make the greatest peripherals. But after a couple of days with it, I'm rather impressed. Smooth. Thumb buttons are cool. And the design is just different than your standard gaming mouse. It is a little bulky, as some have complained about the Razer Lachesis. But after two days of using this beast, and switching back to the Lachesis: it feels tiny compared to the Sidewinder. Between the two, I use the Siderwinder when I am going on long marathon gaming sessions simply because the buttons are easier to push down for long periods. The weighting system is a little overkill in my opinion. What difference does 30grams really make? Reminds me of the reviews for laptops where one weighs 6.0 lbs compared to 7.1 pounds. Like 1.1 lbs is going to kill your arms and shoulder from carrying it around all day. Same with the weights in the mouse. Moot point really...

it's okay, but not the end all of gaming mice

Decent gaming mouse with on the fly adjustable dpi from 400 to 800 to 2000. Finally Microsoft has a scroll wheel worthy of a gaming mouse, as it clicks when used instead of the typical smooth scrolling. The side buttons for forward and backward surfing are stacked and easy to use. I've been looking for a larger mouse for years, and thought this might be the one, but alas, it is not. It is larger than most mice, but still not ergonomically correct. It seems slightly longer in length and it humps up to far in the rear (palm of the hand). The make of the mouse is mostly plastic, and it feels pretty chincy. The weight system is decent, but the slide out weight tray is plastic and engineered inelegantly. It feels that if you were to drop this mouse from your desktop (even though it is wired), it would probably crack on impact.

    Umm, not so much

I tried for about an hour to like this mouse, but the fact of the matter is, if you have small or normal size hands, you'll probably find this mouse a bit uncomfortable. In order to reach buttons 3 and 4, I found myself having to place my palm on the top "hump" of the mouse rather than the my knuckle pads. Buttons 3 and 4 are a tad out of reach of my thumb when I hold the mouse normally. I'm not sure if my description was clear enough, but mess with one in the store to get the idea. The mouse just seems bulky in all the wrong places. If I place my hand forward (so that I can reach the 3rd and 4th mouse buttons), I find myself bumping the mouse into my wrist pad quite a bit. On a side note, ET might like this mouse.

    Skips

No matter what the DPI I set this mouse to, it skips tremendously when trying to focus the mouse on a small object. Whether it be in windows, or in a game, it's just plain frustrating. Simple tasks such as clicking on a spell, or navigating through a right click menu take 4 times as long because this mouse just will not stop skipping. Tried returning it and getting a replacement, same thing. I first owned a Microsoft Intellimouse explorer which the thumb buttons broke, replaced that with a logitech g5 which I absolutely loved, but the usb connector on that broke after a few years, I will be returning this and buying another logitech g5. Nothing bad against MS, this mouse just didn't cut it for me.

    decent gaming mouse

This mouse is built solid, with metal side buttons and metal scroll mouse. The add on weights were perfect for keeping the mouse steady, it seemed way too light(without) and I was roaming all over my desktop with it. Being able to change dpi on the fly is great..the LCD screen is gimmicky and doesnt really serve much purpose unless your memory is that bad. The large hump makes using the left forward button difficult, and my hand pivots off the mouse to use the lower side button. I wish the quick launch button was programmable! Overall, good quality, likes abuse, easy to program. Smaller hands might look at a Razor or similar mouse for gaming. I bought it on sale, would not have paid full price.

    Perfect gaming mouse

It's got 5 buttons, which I don't need, but I guess someone might, so I'm NOT taking off a star for that. It's a good lazer mouse, so it doesn't get "gunked up" or anything. It's extremely comfortable for short and long term hours on the PC. It helps your hand to me in the best physical position for long term effects, and I love it. It's the best mouse that I have ever had and once again, Microsoft hit a home run with anoyher great hardware product! I give this a 5/5, but only get it if you can afford it, although this mouse is extremely low for the great quality.

Excellent gaming mouse! It has precision! It's fully adjustable for both movement and feel. The left and right mouse buttons are excellent compared to the previous (famous make) gaming mouse I am replacing. On the fly DPI switching is great. Excellent scroll wheel 'button'. The two thumb buttons on the left hand side of the mouse are extremely useful for gaming. Map a grenade and melee to these buttons and watch your kill rate increase!

Overall its a great mouse, the box with weights also works a anchor for you mouse cord. I like playing with the different weights and seeing the difference bettween the 3 types of feet provided. The macro button is in front of the 2 side silver buttons which I still havent figured out what the purpuse of it is. I like that you can hit the middle button under the dpi buttons and it brings up your mouse settings buttons which lets you adjust you mouse settings without having to go to you control panel.

    Worth the Money

I love this mouse. It is well worth the money spent. It can take more abuse than most of the mice that are out there today. Once you get use to the feel it is very comfortable and smooth. I love the adjustable DPI (100 - 2000DPI). The scroll wheel is one of the best that I have used, not to loose and not to tight for wheel movement. Out of all the mice I have used and owned over the years I like this one the best and would highly recommend this to everybody that is looking for a high quality mouse.

I was a bit reluctant to try this mouse at first because it does look different than other mice I've used. After giving it a try, I have to say I really like it. Some have complained that it is big and bulky. I have small hands but have no trouble at all with the buttons. In fact, I love the solid feel these buttons have. No accidentally pushing the wrong button and wiping your raid. :)

The best gaming mouse period. I own a G9 and a razer copperhead. Both are very good but, they are not in the same league with the sidewinder. The thumb buttons have a very solid feel to them. Switching dpi setting is easy to do during a game, and the dpi LCD display is easy to read. Check this one out before you buy any other gaming mouse!!!!!

I tried this mouse first. I wasn't very pleased with it. I plugged it up and played around with the weights but nothing made this mouse feel good. It is just cheap and awkward feeling. I picked up my second Razer and haven't been happier. Rarely am I a critic but this one looked to be great and I wanted to give my two cents to warn others.

After using a Intellimouse for years to play Half-Life, Battlefield, and CS:Source...it bit the dust. This mouse is all you could ask for in a gaming mouse. Adjustable weights, 3 DPI settings, and plenty of buttons to map. Plus...it looks sooo much better than a Razer mouse. Get one...load up some BF 2142...and rock your friends.

The best thing about this mouse is that it allows me to concentrate on the game I'm playing instead of having to fight a poorly balanced, poorly tracking mouse like my previous model. Its size is not a problem for me, although that might be a problem for someone with smaller hands.

it takes sometime to get just to it due to the size but once you get just to it its very easy to use, Smooth operation, and the adjustable weight makes it a great product for gaming and normal stuff.Good click response, DPI-on-the-fly feature is handy, changeable feet and cord anchor maintain smooth movement

All customizations to be made with this mouse are done all through the 'Mouse Settings' under the Control Panel. There are no compatibility issues as you don't have to worry about Microsoft's own mouse app. Ergonomically, it takes some getting used to and is meant for those with slightly larger hands.
