As far as the controller itself, I didn't notice any structural difference between this controller and my old white controller that came with my Pro 20GB Xbox 360 several years ago. I did notice, however, that this controller properly charges my Play & Charge Kit where my old one did not. Prior to buying this controller, my Play & Charge kit would always show the red light while recharging. Since the recharging appeared to work anyway, I didn't think much of it (especially after calling Microsoft and being informed that the warranty on accessories is only 90 days, though that was in 2008). Since I assumed that the battery was at fault the whole time, I was surprised to find out that this controller charged the battery and (correctly) showed a green light when charging was complete.

The standard Xbox 360 controller is comfortable and fun to use and gets pretty good battery life. My only real complaint is that after many hours of play, the left analog stick will sometimes get stuck slightly to the left. It's not visually obvious that it's stuck, but your character will just be walking left without touching the stick. This only seems to happen after many, many hours of use (a year or two of moderate usage), but it's happened to me on two different controllers now, so I think it's just something that wears out over time. I don't think this is unreasonable. It's just that it's happened to me twice now, so I make a note of it and knock one star off the review for it. Otherwise, I think it's a great controller and gets the job (of playing games) done well.

If one needs a USB gamepad to play their games on Steam or Uplay or what have you, this is the gamepad they want. Most games these days are optimized to use the 360 gamepad, so it just works better than the others on most modern games. The other great thing about the gamepad is since it's a Microsoft product, one doesn't need to install any 3rd party software, Windows 7 and Windows 8 will just automatically install the necessary driver for the gamepad, and its good to go. One thing to keep in mind, on older games like San Andreas, the second stick isn't enabled. There are 3rd party programs out there that will enable the stick but the programs sometimes will cause those older games to crash. But I doubt very many are still playing games as old as San Andreas.

What can I say? This is a microsoft licensed product so it functions like it should. I decided to buy the controller to play pc games with it and it works great for that. I also put it aside just in case i run out of batteries for my wireless controller. That happens occasionally for me. The only thing i can complain about is what has happened to all of my xbox controllers. The joysticks get broken in and become loose or very stiff taking away from the accuracy of movements in games. I have kind of learned to deal with it with time, however, so it isn't a huge problem.

Purchased as a gift for someone else to be used on a Windows 8.1 laptop for Steam PC games. Wired Xbox 360 genuine controllers are Windows PC friendly and have excellent drivers written for them. If anyone has trouble with it being auto detected, download the latest driver software from Microsoft to fix. I have a similar controller that is non-genuine wired xbox 360 on my Windows 7 64-bit PC and laptop and works perfectly with most controller supported games. You can get additional 3rd party software to program the controller to emulate mouse input and keyboard commands for non-controller supported games. Would get additional wired controllers when the price goes down and product being eventually discontinued.

This wireless controller is perfect for PC when playing controller supported games on Steam. It's as simple as inserting the driver disc that came with it, following the couple simple steps and plugging in the dongle. Launch any controller supported game and that's it! Get to playing! My only issue with it is that like a few of my other Xbox controllers, the left thumb stick wears out, and sometimes when my thumb is not on the stick it will make my character in game slowly drift left or right. To be fair though, I play a lot of Call of Duty so I am constantly mashing the left thumb stick down to sprint so I probably put that stick through a lot more wear and tear than the average user. All in all a great product and would purchase again.

Now when you take a look at this controller, you think "whoa, what an eyesore". But honestly, does it really matter what the controller looks like once you're playing the game? With the newly added, customizable "cross pad", this is the best XBox 360 wireless controller design to date. These come in many different colors, but the camouflage version seems to be the one that goes on sale the most, possibly because it is not a very attractive looking controller. I picked mine up for $29.99 + tax when it was a Best Buy "Deal Of The Day", so I highly recommend that you all sign up for Best Buy's Email List so you can also get opportunities to buy awesomely made controllers like this (brand new!) at a stellar price.

    Best Controller for Windows

I've tried dozens of controllers including using the Sony Dual Shock 3 and 4 for PC, and in terms of mass compatibility with windows drivers AS WELL AS the Video games that play, are simply the best on this controller. Literally plug in, and use windows update. THATS IT. After that the only stress is the two AA batteries, which have yet to die on me yet. I may get a rechargeable pack later down the road, but small price to pay for just simple and good functionality with games. Vibration and pressure sensitive buttons and analog sticks are the two variables I have found with other controllers that may or may not work across ANY video game you run, but the OEM 360 controller for PC does this perfectly.

Great Product and works with Windows 8

I really wanted to get the wired controller but after doing some research I found the wired controller had some glitches with Windows 8 so I tried this wireless controller.... I saw other reviews, but I was literally gaming with this controller in about a minute after unboxing... the drivers downloaded, and the controller worked without issue. There is no lag, and the small vibration feedback actually is helpful while playing Assassins Creed III We'll see how battery life is... but anyone looking for a controller compatible with Windows 8... THIS IS IT !!!

Why not use the controller you all know an love to game on your PC? You can't think of a reason can you? I used this and other wireless controllers to stomp the newbs in all manner of games. JK, I play single player because I dislike people for the most part, but not this controller, it's awesome. I will say that I have been experiencing some drops outs during critical moments in Far Cry Primal, but it may just be because I have yet to put a new set of batteries in this thing in 6 months. Get the one with the pc dongle if you dont have one, you need it, wont work without the dongle, trust me, no bluetooth wont work on this controller, just get the dongle already.

This was the second one that I have bought like this to use with my second PC, which we use as a home theater and gaming system in the bonus room. These old controllers have never failed to work, and are very comfortable to hold for extended sessions. We primarily use them for Lego games, racing games, and side scrollers. Mouse and keyboard is still preferred for most applications, but controllers like this just work better for certain games. I would buy these again without hesitation if I needed another one. You can launch Steam Big Picture using the Xbox button in the middle of it also.

    Good controller but faulty hardware

This will be my third controller in just 2 years across multiple computers as the receiver has a terrible design flaw- it has a surface fuse that burns out. The controller works great, long lasting and offers lag-free wireless performance, but you will need to replace the receiver due to the flawed hardware design with the receiver. Luckily, there are Chinese knock-off receivers but they are not compatible with 64-bit Windows or Windows 10 so buy with caution! All three controllers work perfectly still but I keep buying these for the receiver. I will be buying the new Steam controller next with hopes of not having to replace the receiver every several months...

This is an Xbox 360 controller that can be used for PC gaming. It's great for sprots titles like NBA 2k14 and shooting and racing games. The quality of the controller is great like it has been since they changed the joy sticks to the new variety. You don't have to change batteries since it is wired, but then again... it does have a wire. Some people might not like that, but I don't mind it too much. I love this controller, though, especially since it is the standard of the industry. I haven't used any controller I like better that then official Xbox 360 controller, one of my faveroites of all time. Very much recommend to anyoine who wants a controller for their PC or emulated games.

i bought the wired controller because it was $15 cheaper then the wireless one. plus, getting a wired controller it doesnt come with the rechargable battery pck so you have to buy anpother one of those unless you want to fork out a ton of cash for batteries. no thank you. the wired controller works AWESOME. its durable, and the wire plenty long to sit away from the TV. unless you like sitting 30 feet away, but thats not me. its good for friends to use when they come over. i'd get another one.

This is not an Xbox 360 Controller!

Bought this along with an Xbox 360 Elite Slim, took it home and was puzzled as to why it included a dongle that had to be connected to the console. Plugged it in anyway and watched the machine completely lock up. Restarted, tried again, same result. I had assumed that the software that had come along with the remote was to install the device on a Windows PC as it was supposedly compatible with both the PC and Xbox. So I put the disc in only to find that the Xbox console couldn't read it. Did a little research afterward and discovered this controller is actually and Xbox 360 for use with Windows PCs only. See the related products for the controller you actually want to purchase.

This controller works great with PC Minecraft game (java version) , PC web games like Roblox and others. I was concerned by reading other reviews that it may not work with PC Minecraft, although it was a breeze to get it up and running. Range and battery life is great too! My son uses it like a pro and learnt few tricks by himself on these creative educational games instead of watching TV. I am so glad that this worked out without any issues. The wireless controller is great quality, features and at good price. I think it can used on xbox as well further once we decide to go for it.

I purchased this Xbox 360 Wired Controller last week and I like it better then the wireless ones. I've had many wireless controllers and they break down faster and require to be charged or add new batteries quite a lot. This wired one needs no batteries and lasts longer. If you don't mind the wire while playing, this is a good controller to have. Also don't buy the off brand controllers, they brake down quicker and you'll have to replace them often. I order this one on line because I don't think they cary them in the stores any more (at least the one were I went to didn't) It took about 4 days for the controller to arrive my house.

Seeing that I have played console games for years and just recently started PC gaming, the wireless Xbox 360 controller was a great addition to my arsenal. I prefer mouse and keyboard for FPS games but really enjoy the controller for games like Assassins Creed and a few others in my collection. Really wish the controller come with the rechargeable battery and cable and that it wasn't an added expense, but oh well, I have it now. Hardcore gamers look down on you for using a controller but for someone just making the transition, it has really helped make the transition a little easier as I become more comfortable with mouse and keyboard.

I bought this Wireless Controller as a second user controller few months ago and it works flawless so far and fun to play games with this toy on my xbox. I got some generic controller last year and it died after 4 months usage. So I got this Wireless Controller as my second pair and i really love it. the only con I observed was when you don't use this controller for certain time, some times (very rarely), it goes to ideal mode/ disconnection mode and you have to restart it and it will work normal.this may be how it suppose to work, Im not sure. But all other things working fine and you will enjoy it.

Basically, this is like every other Microsoft Xbox 360 controller, but with a shiny purple color. I got this controller on clearance for like $32, so I really couldn't beat that price for a brand new controller. The only thing I really noticed is that the joysticks are updated. Instead of them being smooth with ridges like the older Xbox 360 controller, the joysticks on this controller are entirely flat but have a grip type material on them. It hasn't affected play at all and it's really not that big of a difference. Just a cosmetic or cheaper design choice probably. But otherwise, this is just your standard issue controller.
