Specifications Type: Surface Book Processor: i7 Hard drive: 1Tb SSD Graphics: Integrated Intel graphics card with Nvidia dGPU Display: Microsoft PixelSense display 3000x2000 resolution Ports: USB 3.0 (x2), full SD card slot, mini HDMI Review I've spent two weeks transitioning to this 2-in-1 laptop from a 2013 Lenovo Yoga and these are my results: Aesthetics - The magnesium casing makes the Surface Book feel and look like a premium product. Keyboard - The keyboard has a 28 x 11 cm surface. It feels very uncrowded (medium sized hands), and the spacing between keys is just enough to make me not question which key I'm pressing. It also lights up with 3 different brightness settings. Display - The Surface Book's 3000x2000 13.5 inch screen feels crisp and responsive. Not 4K quality, but good enough to afford the amount of battery life I expected out of a laptop. When detached it works (almost) like the Surface line of tablets. I’ve brought the screen to meetings to take notes and even gave a short presentation with it. Battery Life - With maximum screen and keyboard brightness I used google chrome (3 hours), watched several education videos through chrome (2 hours), and created a couple word documents (1 hour), all with the mail app running, a USB 3.0 drive plugged in, and over WIFI. After this amount of use, the Surface Book still had 64% of its battery left. Compatibility – Works well with all of the Microsoft products and Google products I’ve run so far. There were a couple of display issues running certain programs that rely on JavaScript (powerschool) where the Surface Book tried to adjust the program to display correctly. If you are in this situation, there is a registry setting you can edit to fix issues like this. Gaming – I own an Xbox also and decided to try some gaming at work. I hooked up an Xbox One controller through USB and downloaded RE7 and Halo Wars 2. With graphics set to low, these games played well with few noticeable problems. Video – I put together a few HD family videos using LightWorks with no issues. I haven’t tried Adobe. The Pen – Very minimal response time when writing notes with the Surface Book’s pen. Very usable as a note taking devices for lectures or meetings. The only time I noticed any sort of lag was when I was running MANY additional programs. TLDR: If you are in the process of upgrading to new PC, want a laptop AND a tablet to perform many (but not all) tasks, and have the extra cash, the Surface Book won’t disappoint you.

This one device has replaced my company Dell Inspirion laptop, dell docking station, ipad, and home computer all in one device. Fast, capable of handling full install enterprise level software, with the surface dock at home and work quickly morphs into a 3 monitor setup without the glitches the older model had due to reduced processing power. Very mobile, while it is larger and heavier than my iPad pro was, since it replaces both my work laptop AND my ipad my overall travel load and space requirements is much reduced. Combined with the Microsoft surface keyboard, mouse, and wireless display adapter it's a productivity machine like I've never had the pleasure of having before! BEST investment I've made in a long time that hasn't disappointed in any way.

I was always convinced 2 in 1's were more of a gimmick then anything; As in a product that had the capabilities to do both, be a laptop or a tablet.. but not be able to perform an exceptional or even decent job at either. Until i found the surface book; which not only just spec wise but out performed the most powerful and expensive laptops and macbooks on several benchmarks. This laptop/tablet isn't just capable of doing both; but competes with the best laptops and tablets on the market, if not out performing several of said competition. The Display is amazing, and it just overall feels like a durable piece of well built technology.

Great computer.not for a beginner with out geek squad would of returned. It took some adjusting from normal laptop.Three times the price but screen quality is excellent, lighted key board nice, speakers OK,speed and storage very good.Nice to work on in lap no heat, comes out top of keyboard.battery life is good but not as stated about 6 hrs full screen resolution.surfing web and you tube videos. Hdmi to TV is the big challenge ,getting sound to work on TV takes some monkeying around every time you hook up.But over all take the time to learn everything a you will be happy with purchase.

Our son, who works in the computer/internet industry, recommended we buy this machine for my wife to use in her sewing. She does very intricate embroidery work and the patterns she uses are computerized. The Surface Book has a fantastic resolution to begin with, but we also purchased a 27" 4k Ultra HD monitor to hook the Surface Book up to. It is now much easier for my wife to use her very large collection of computerized embroidery patterns and make her own modifications to them. She also loves that her Surface is very fast and very lightweight.

I love, love, love my New Microsoft Surface Book. At first, I thought I would buy the Pro but after I decided on all the add-ons, it was as expensive as the Surface Book which included everything I wanted plus more. I purchased the Book that had the Intel 7th Gen Core i7, 16GB, 1TB, with the Intel Iris Plus Graphics. It had the up-graded graphics and I can still use it as a tablet! I have only had it for 2 weeks and I still love it.

Purchased for my wife who who is type A, has no patience when on computer and wanted something with 1 TB memory, fast, dependable. So far she's thrilled and I am no longer hearing her complain about her computer. Next it's my turn to buy a surface book but I'm waiting for the new updated model. However, given her level of satisfaction I may break down and buy the same if Microsoft doesn't launch the new one this summer. Can't give it 5 stars because I'm not the primary user.

I had an original Surface and loved it. I re-gifted it to my 10 year old niece this Christmas as I bought this Surface Book for myself. So far it meets all of my expectations. I love the pen control, the size/weight of the computer. I like that it can be computer/tablet and has the storage capacity I need for video/photography editing. I can't wait to explore the drawing capabilities.

This is a sharp looking and nicely working laptop. The detachable screen is a novelty feature - I have only used it that way once - but it is nice to have the option to re-orient the screen to tablet / portrait mode. I like the facial recognition feature; it is nice but occasionally spooky. I probably went overboard on the storage but it is nice to have plenty of room for software and documents.

This laptop is the best computer. It never fails. It is quick. Has lots of storage. I bought this for our business and it has been amazing. Windows is really easy to use, which was the biggest factor in buying this one. My son looked at the specs today and was highly impressed and said I did good. Then asked me to buy him one.

It is by far the highest price of all the laptops. It is one of the heaviest. Others have the latest I-7 7th gen, and this only has the I-7, 6th gen. However, if you simply must have the latest and greatest, and the most tech advanced laptop that puts Apple to shame, the Surface Book is now the standard for all laptops.

Microsoft has reinvented themselves with the new Surface product line and the Surface Book delivers. I expect this power laptop to evolve over the next few years with a new processor and features but if you need a power laptop for intensive tasks, this laptop will handle the job.

This was a spur of the moment purchase, but I have no regrets. Love the lighted keyboard (easy to see). But... the pen is my favorite and go to option when in tablet mode. Very versatile and the battery life so far has been pretty good.

Hard to give it five stars because Windows 10 on a combo table/computer is not as good as windows 10 on a desktop and this computer is nothing without windows 10. That being said, I really like it.

Everything works fast. As fast as it is, the cost is way high. I could have gotten a MAC for less and that says a lot. But I am preferable to windows.
