    This surface book has been the best replacement for my old lenovo laptop. I've used both the tablet and the laptop functionality in multiple instances, working in an open-space environment, going from meeting to meeting, and moving between writing, analyzing data and doing presentations to small groups. The visual display is great, and the opportunity to mark up documents and drawings in real time in a group has been spot on.

    I purchased this machine to use as my laptop for graduate school, and so far, I have really enjoyed the surface book experience. Having the ability to detach the screen is very neat, even if it isn't a feature that I use very frequently. The feel of the keyboard and touchpad is very nice, and the build quality seems exceptional. Two USB ports isn't much, but I bought a USB splitter with an ethernet port, and I haven't been wanting since. Overall, a quality product, but an expensive one.

    My initial interactions were amazing. I was in love with this laptop. However, after using it for a week, I discovered that there are frequent CPU hangs where everything drags to a crawl and the mouse lags 2-3 seconds behind. (Task Manager always shows almost no CPU or Mem usage.) Each time, only a reboot resolves. After having it only 45 days, one of the touch screen panels went out. Luckily Best Buy let me swap it out since I was in the return period, but I've continued to have CPU hangs on my second laptop and I've unknowingly scratched up the top cover which may as well be covered in latex paint. Additionally, the fulcrum hinge frequently pinches my fingers when I'm walking around with it, and it now seems loose and shakes back and forward. The power cord is super cheap and not very durable, considering the price of this laptop.
