Sturdy and fast 2 in 1
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this for a medical office. After 2 months of 40 + hour work weeks this device is still going strong. Very light (important if you're carrying all day) and quick. Lacks the Mircosoft pencil (and extra $100) but otherwise and excellent product.

Great but, several very disappointing issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So, I have had this about 10 months now. It is a fantastic laptop from a performance aspect and is functionally exactly what I need. It can handle anything I throw at it. However, over time I have noticed two issues that have led me to downgrade my overall rating, which would be 5 stars without these issues. The first and most important is the battery life. Right now I am typing this on the book which I disconnected from power supply at about 8.30 a.m. It is around 11 a.m. and the battery which was fully charged is at 19% for the laptop and 18% for the tablet. I have been shopping online. Using Chrome and the display is turned up fairly bright, but that's still not enough to justify this level of battery drain. And, I know it is not acceptable because when I first got the laptop this did not happen. It started happening around the 6 month mark. While I understand that all batteries degrade over time, this laptop has had the best care, it is not exposed to extreme environments or misuse, and yet the battery appears to be failing very early. I am pretty unhappy. The other issue which is more of an annoyance is the issue that others have experienced (google it: surface book wake from sleep). The laptop often refuses to "wake" by any normal method. I have to either push the start button down 7-8 times, or restart completely, or hit the "detach" button". One of the three methods will work but it's inconsistent as to which works at any given occurrence. The first few times it happened I was convinced I had a dead PC, but once I got through it, it's more of an annoyance than anything, especially if I need to access the laptop quickly. Aside from these issues, and the fact that I feel Microsoft should have offered a screen with a matte or at least less glare, I am happy with the laptop. I will probably contact Microsoft here in the next week or two due to the battery issue or go into a store, before my 1 year (shamefully short) warranty runs out.

Remarkable laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just got this laptop after my Dell conked out on me. I'm so glad I spent a little more to get a high quality laptop. This little baby is so lightweight but packs a lot of power. Must buy!!

Best of the best in Windows 2 n 1's
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased for my wife to replace her MacBook Pro 13". She never grasped MacOS and wanted to go back to Windows. She was still within her return period, and between the Lenovo 920, Spectre X360 and Envy X360, she chose the Surface Book 2. This is the first laptop that she actually set uo on her own. The Surface Book 2 is a solid built 2 n 1, with a great screen, keyboard, and features that set it apart from other windows 2 n 1's.

Best laptop purchase
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent Computer! I've purchased 8 or 9 laptops over the past 20 years - and this is by far the best one. I purchased it in July of 2018 and it is still going strong.

Very Dissapointed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this over Christmas as an Anniversary gift for my wife. I was very excited in the beginning. Then, every day the fan starts to be very loud, even when the computer is closed and nobody is working on it. I just open an Internet page and suddenly the fan starts and it runs for at least 2 hours in a row. Also, the touch pad buttons are so loud and feel so cheap by the noise they are making. For this price I would have expected some delicate buttons but it feels like my $200 laptop I bought for my kid. Time to exchange it has passed. My wife wanted an Apple laptop but Best Buy people told me this one is more performant. It might be from specifications perspective, but it sounds and feels cheap. The other thing is that the laptop was supposed to come with a pen, but there was no pen. The manager gave me an HP pen instead. I should have listened and bought an Apple product like my wife wanted and not listen to others there. I learned my lesson.

get the warranty
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought a 1st generation Surface Book. Loved it. Got 18 mth financing and 24 month warranty. Unfortunately, batteries turned out to have life span of 24 months and 1 week. And, batteries can not be serviced or replaced. As with most new computers, you should view this as a lease, not a long term investment. Thanks,

Terrible Experience
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After purchasing, it took several hours to update software. However, it would not update to the latest version of Windows 10 (Creators edition). After trying numerous times, I contacted tech support to find out I was number 96 in line for help. Still could not get Windows to install latest updates, but each time, fragments of the install were downloaded and kept reducing hard drive space. I have spent all day trying to setup this surface book. Considering this is one of Microsoft's premium laptops, it's unacceptable that it can't install Microsoft software, not to mention having nonexistent tech support. Too bad, because the hardware appears to be very nice. This has been one of the worst PC experiences I have had. Guess I will have to spend more of my time resetting and returning this. Might have to start looking at Apple products.

A little misleading
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review."blazing NVIDIA graphics" this is a lie, this model does NOT use NVIDIA graphics it uses INTEL, this would only be worth the price point if it was actually using a good graphics card, I wish I returned this laptop sooner in exchange for the upgraded graphics card, but it is already too late and the trade in value of this 1500 dollar laptop is a measly 400 dollars even though I only had it for a little over 2 months, how weak and disappointing. However I generally think for average usage it is a decent laptop with great battery life, I enjoy all the bells and whistles like the touch screen and detachable keyboard Plus I was initially excited for this laptop altogether in the beginning, but the overall price for a graphics card that weak is embarrassingly unjustifiable.

Lasted 6 months
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this laptop back in August for college. Assuming this would be a dependable device as it was a brand new expensive piece of equipment, I stored any and everything of importance to me on this laptop. Woke up this morning to find out it would not turn on. The Microsoft store at my local mall was very helpful and tried everything they could. Turns out the keyboard was fine but the detachable screen had some issue that wouldn’t let it power on at all (the screen side of the laptop is where all the memory is). They tried everything even an extranal display. Gave me a new surface book after determining mine would never turn on again. There goes years and years of work and memories that I had stored on that brand new laptop. I will never buy another Microsoft laptop again.

Falling apart after 3 months
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The keys fall of and crumble, the screen is discoloring, its regularly attacked by viruses despite my having bought and installed Best Buy's 3 year protection and the insurance that you buy has 3 week turn around to get your computer back if it needs repair. I didn't listen to warning because I wanted all the features and now I just wish I had something I could save documents to consistently.

GTX 1050 GPU not recognized, cannot play Fortnite!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's October 10, 2018 and I still cannot use my Surface Book 2's GTX 1050 dedicated GPU that I paid top-dollar for. Incredibly disappointed in Microsoft's refusal to fix this critical issue. I can't play any games like Fortnite which runs at an abysmal 20 FPS with the Intel graphics. I installed all the latest updates required and talked with several SB2 owners having the same issue. I believe a class-action lawsuit is in order if Microsoft does not fix this issue ASAP.

Unreliable, flimsy power connector, poor support
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Stopped working after 8 months. Charger would not stay plugged in; I had to tape it in place. Charger then failed completely. Best Buy verified that the charger was bad and said they would have one mailed to me! Would not give me one from their stock, said they cost $80. When Consumer Reports tells you Microsoft laptops are unreliable, believe them!
