Gave as a gift for college. Daughter opted to kick in for upgraded features/specs like memory, processor & disk space. I'd probably recommend the same. Switches from laptop to tablet nice & easily...and does accommodate a protection case. I've not heard anything bad about it yet. One large design draw back is that it requires a special security lock system...not the traditional key/peg style..there's no slit for it. The cable system has a bar that squeezes the monitor and then locks in the back with a key. Apparently the keyboard isn't worth locking..I didn't see a way.

I purchased the Surface Book 2 with the i7 chip, 16MB of ram and a TB hard drive. It is great laptop – great battery life, screen, etc. However, it does have flaws that Microsoft should fix: 1) It’s a painful experience to get a live person at Customer service (this is a premium price product and should have premium customer service), 2) Starting the laptop as a tablet requires the entry of the BitLocker key (not very practical unless you have access to another pc). Microsoft is aware of this issue and are working on an update to fix but have no expectation as to when it will be available - Microsoft suggested I disable BitLocker (not an acceptable solution for me), 3) Only 1 choice of screen resolution is available (3000x2000). Generally, this isn't an issue unless you are using multiple screens (formatting between screens gets messed up) or are using certain software that adjusts poorly to using the recommended screen scaling (200%). Most screen resolutions provide multiple options for this very reason - if Microsoft provides an unusual screen resolution (3000x2000) they should at least provide multiple options (ie 1500x1000) to avoid scaling issues with various programs 4) A premium laptop should include Thunderbolt and not just USB Cs.

My old laptop Windows (Windows 7) personal computer (PC) from 2010 ran out of memory recently, so I started looking at new laptops with a lot of memory and great reviews to replace it. After vetting all the top choices, it came down to a Apple MacBook vs. a Microsoft Surface Book 2. I wound up choosing the later because it was a Windows PC (open source code system with Windows 10) and because I read so many great reviews on the Surface Book laptop computers. Overall, I have had my Surface Book 2 laptop for 3 weeks now and I love it. It is the best laptop computer I have ever owned. It is lightning fast since it is a solid state hard drive and has plenty of memory since I got the top memory option one with 1 terabyte of dGPU. Moreover, the convertibility between laptop and tablet modes and the Nvidia video card allows me to use it as a tablet computer to watch movies while working out at the gym. In summary, it is a top quality laptop computer with excellent versatility and highest amounts of memory. I highly recommend it.

I love this thing. It is so fast. A little heavier than i thought it would be but thats totally worth it. I havent used it in tablet mode yet and it doesnt come with a pen but i have recently ordered one

When first introduced I bought a Surface Book and absolutely loved it. When I wanted another laptop, there wasn't any thought about it, I got a Surface Book 2. It is even better. Great screen and keyboard. Fast. Long battery life. Microsoft doesn't load the device with any bloatware. And, on the few occasions I have had a question Microsoft support is surprisingly good. It is well worth the premium price.

The Microsoft Surface Book 2 is a powerful, fast laptop that I can use for hours as the battery has plenty of power for all kinds of uses. It is lightweight, yet powerful to process the most demanding of jobs, like video editing or having many applications open. I am very thankful that I decided to buy this laptop.

Love this laptop. I think the photos make this seem like an oddball out of the bunch of basic clam shells out there however this need to be seen up close. Its crafted extremely well and I do believe you get your moneys worth out of this product. The keybord is amazing. I have one small con.... The mouse click is loud. I think the click should NOT sound this loud for a PC at this price.... Having that said the trackpad itself is extremely functional and the click can be navigated around with gestures. I keep hearing people talk about the hinge... Honestly I was a little skeptical in the beginning looking at the pictures however now that I own this I love it.

I am enjoying the Surface Book 2 thus far. As someone who works in IT, and has to carry laptops and tablets with me 24/7, I find the form factor perfect. The long battery life is also wonderful.

I LOVE this computer. It is fast, lightweight and easy to turn into a tablet. I also love the pen accessory. Worth every penny.

the versatility of this laptop is what lead me to its purchase. i can use it as a laptop/pad/a book depending on the need. haven't really used the pen yet but I'm sure I will once I warm up to all of its functionality. love the folks at best buy greenfield for assisting with this purchase and answering all my questions as I am non too tech savvy my self. the price was excellent and when you open a best buy credit card the extra 10% off helps with big purchases such as these.

Great laptop more than I excepted in performance flexibility of the laptop

I don't have anything bad to say about this product. It easily connects to blue tooth devices (including earbuds). It has the power to perform any functions. I have 2 additional 25" HDMI monitors connected to mine through the use of the Microsoft Docking station sold separately. Just buy it. I have 2 in my household.

Great form factor, good keyboard, great laptop and a nice tablet

I’ve been an IT Consultant since 2006 and I think this is the best laptop you can get. It’s definitely the best consumer laptop you can buy. The detachable screen is what sets it apart. I’ve set up Lenovo Yogas, HP Spectre’s and Dell XPS. I like this one the best

I didn’t know what to get. But this is such a versatile laptop/tablet. I love it. I haven’t had computer in years and I’m amazed how much I love it. Grandpa got as gift and I am amazed how much it does. Even if it doesn’t come with Microsoft programming. That’s one thing bummmmed me out bad.

Just what I was looking for, powerful computer when I need to do work but also a tablet when reading newspapers/books when travelling. Flexible of laptop, tablet, and/or viewing screen was primary reason I selected Surface Book 2 and so far it hasn't disappointed.

Boots up extremely fast, comfortable in the hand, and can use it as a tablet or laptop. A little more money than many other brands with similar capabilities, but much more durable and comfortable to use.

When I was searching for a laptop it took me over a year to figure out which one I would like to use. I use mine for making movies, commercials, excel sheets, run my business and do video conferencing. This has been by far the best purchase I have made. It cost a bit but it was so worth the money. I am still learning how to draw on it and what programs would work best for it but this laptop make searching for that program fun and easy. Definitely recommend to business owners wanting to do everything on one device!

Wife wanted something lighter for business travel than her 15" Lenovo laptop. this works great and like the detachable screen

I bought it for my work and it is a fabulous computer though expensive. So far no complaints and works like a charm.
