We desperately needed to upgrade our personal laptop. We had a Toshiba Satellite that we bought years ago that under-performs nowadays. So, I shopped around for a touchscreen laptop that could perform well for everyday use, blogging, editing, etc. It's a great laptop/tablet touchscreen. It's quick, logging in is a breeze (face recognition), it boots up quick and it's a powerful laptop. I love that you can detach the screen from the keyboard and use it as a tablet. We also bought a Surface Pro 6 along with the Surface Book 2 and both work great. It's expensive, but we needed a laptop that would last for years.

Me and my fiance couldn't be happier with this laptop. It runs all the games I want to play on it, and is nice and quick for her web browsing. The screen is gorgeous!

Wish it had an HDMI output and came with a Windows ink pen. also, most laptops of this caliber come standard with a terabyte hard drive. Other than that, very good picture, easy to use, and detachable tablet feature is awesome.

Needed a laptop for a new adventure I started. Needed something with ability to draw and edit on the fly and have laptop abilities. Still figuring out how to work a lot of the features but so far I love this thing. It is a bit expensive but its a quality product. Keyboard is phenomenal. I used the natural keyboards so wasn't sure how I was going to do going to a laptop style. But no cramped at all, keys are very responsive with positive feed back. Mouse pad is very large and accommodating. Videos are crisp and clean. I don't have anything negative about it. After more usage I will post again if thoughts change.

First I want to say, this is for work and not gaming. I am very used to desktops and the power available. With me being in and out of the office I wanted a convertible that I can dock and use a monitor, keyboard and mouse. After several fails with Hp, per Best Buy staff I was lead to this laptop, and while not a true convertible it works great. I have not noticed the loss going from a 32g ram desktop to this 16g laptop. I have already recommended Microsoft pc’s to friends. Well those who are discussing apple because the price point is about the same.

Until now, the last time I had bought a laptop was in 2013 and it was an HP Envy. It went to complete crap in the 6 years I had it, struggling to even open email and word documents, so it was time for an upgrade. I’m an IT student so I needed my next laptop to be powerful enough to write code as well as needing it to run editing apps such as photoshop and illustrator. The Microsoft book 2 is perfect for all of this and more. It’s extremely responsive and does struggle to switch between applications as I’m working. I’m very happy with my choice for an upgrade.

I got this laptop for "work" - personal software development projects during my spare time & I was not disappointed. From a performance perspective, this 2-in-1 packs a lot of power. I've not seen any performance degradation, even with several development tools running at the same time. Everything seems snappy & is a pleasure to work with. The removable display comes in very handy if you want to roam around the house or office. I often sit on the couch reading ebooks on it in tablet mode. The extra height on the display is useful both during regular laptop as well as tablet use, allowing for more "width" on whatever is currently on the screen. When paired with the Surface Pen, it becomes a pleasure to draw or diagram on. The overall matt finish works well, especially if you use it regularly. The key presses have good feedback & resistance. The trackpad sometimes feel a bit insensitive, especially when scrolling, but since I use a mouse with it, I hardly notice this. The display can get a tad on the warm side, so take note where the air vents are, especially when using it as a tablet to ensure it doesn't overheat. Also, be aware that the device has 2 batteries - one for the screen & one for the base. So don't be afraid to leave the base connected to mains to keep it charged when using the monitor. In all I'm very happy with my Surface Book 2. I've not needed to invest in a tablet, so this really ticks a number of boxes for me.

If you need a laptop but want it to have additional functionality, and a touch screen this is the one for you! Stop reading this review and just go buy it... Seriously! After years of being a loyal HP laptop owner, I decided to switch it up and try this laptop out and I am so happy that I did. This is a quality machine and I've owned it for a little over a year and I have 0 complaints. Best laptop that I have ever owned! Fast, responsive, does cool stuff, and has features that I still have yet to even utilize. Very cool.

I had previously purchased a Surface Pro 1. It finally went belly-up, brick, when the Surface Pro 4 came out. I picked up the Surface Pro 4 and a year so in found that I had a dead pixel. I returned the Surface Pro 4 to Best Buy to get it fixed or replaced or whatever they decided to do based on the extended warranty. My only beef is that apparently no one likes the big machines. They didn't have a Surface Pro 4 of the same size as mine nor they did to have one bigger. I was left to look for something else. I was sworn against the Surface Book when it first came out but in all reality it was about all that was left viable for me that day. I picked up the Surface Book 2 15in and it does fine.

My job requires me to be on the go, have people sign paperwork and update charts on the fly. This computer not only does the job, but it also does more. Because of this computer I have eliminated paper and printing is no longer needed. I don’t have piles of paperwork to carry around because i now have the ability to have people sign right on the computer. On a fun note, I started drawing because of the pen. I would recommend this computer to everyone, especially to artists and architectures.

    CAD design and grading powerhouse

This machine is a powerhouse for all the Fusion 360 CAD design that i've been doing. This one handles the meshes that would make my 3 year old gaming PC crash. It is also an excellent tool for grading student papers when coupled with the surface pen. Separating the tablet and flipping it around makes for an excellent and efficient grading workflow. I can write directly on student papers and send feedback directly back in PDF format so students can see precisely what they did wrong. Excellent device.

Power, plenty of space and if you use thumb drives. With the power base I can do my job, take a break watch and HQ movie or play a game that takes use of the GPU. Unlike all the other surface units this one has a GPU for better faster graphics.
