Best Investment
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I did a lot of research before buying this device. Although a lot of people were having issues, they were mostly software related and most of them have been fixed. Personally the only "issue", if you could call it that, is with battery drain during sleep...but then again it is not that big of a deal, I have set my SB to hibernate instead of sleep when closing the lid until this is fix. It only takes about 12-15 seconds to be in the desktop after coming out of hibernate. I am an IT professional and I am very impressed with the versatility of this device. You could get more specs for the price with other windows laptops but to me nothing beats the convenience and the build quality of this machine. Highly recommended!

Best purchase ever
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's the best! Love this computer, so easy to use. I needed a small computer that wasn't heavy and that could also be used as a tablet for my business. It is a little pricey but well worth it. A high quality machine.

Love it more then my Macbook Pro
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was nervous purchasing this laptop after hearing about some issues with firmware and the display drivers crashing. After doing the Windows updates for this laptop I'm getting great performance and really awesome battery life. I am very surprised and extremely happy with my Surface Book. I haven't had any issues with drivers when detaching the screen while watching videos or working in Adobe. Its been a great laptop!

Lightweight - Fast
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love the fact that it is so light and quick - keyboard is perfect for typing and has a great feel. When tablet is detached it weighs nothing but the only down-side is the USB ports remain in the keyboard section and not on the tablet..

The Surface Book is a laptop you have to grow with
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall the Surface Book offers un-paralleled capability, transforming to the user's needs either as a light, comfortable tablet, a thicker, firmer base for touch-based use, or as a traditional laptop. The graphic design is crisp and the layout is easy to live with and completely customize-able, and the physical quality of the touchpad -- which some reviews found too sensitive, but I find perfect for my taste -- and the the satisfying click of the keyboard make for a quality product that is easy to live with. Part of living with it, however, will be having to adapt to and grow with the new Windows 10, the operating system for which the Surface Book is specifically designed for. Being a new system, you will have to go through many updates, but these only make the laptop and the system better, and are hardly a hassle. The Surface Book is a bit pricier, but at that price you get a quality-built 3-in-1 capable laptop/tablet, which you can customize at will, and which will comfortably serve you for years to come.

Great 2-in-1 system
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For years I have been an iPad and iPhone kind of guy. However, in the past year I have been slowly transitioning to Android and now my first Windows "Tablet". I need the flexibility of a tablet, a good keyboartd when needed, and powerful computing. This system does little to disappoint. It has good power with the i5, good GPU, and sufficient space (easily expandable with SD card or external hard drive. I was going to go for the i7 but the price value for the performance difference is not there. The only thing I don't like is that Microsoft does little to give you costumization choices. If I could have gotten the i5 with a larger SSD, I would have. The screen is beautiful and IMO even better than the iPad Air 2. The pen is very responsive although I am not sure how much I will use it. The keyboard is very comfortable, even with my medium to larger hands. I have not had any hardware problems or crashes since getting the Surface Book about a week ago. Everything has been running smoothly. I am a tech guy and I am hard to impress. I've had plenty of laptops. I've buildt a powerful gaming Windows PC. I still have an iPad Air 2 (gathering dust somewhere). This is by far the best laptop I have own, and it is easily becoming the best tablet. You can't go wrong with this system.

Best All Around Laptop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent display. Good battery life that fully charges from 20% in about two hours. Good processing for moderate gaming and video editing. Keyboard is great for typing with keys nicely spaced and good amount of travel. Has two USB ports so you can plug more than one device. A downside to the laptop is when used as a standalone tablet you are unable to plug into power or use peripherals because all the ports are on the detachable keyboard.

Everything it promised and more...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This computer/tablet/God send is amazing. I've had mine for about a month and a half or so now and everything I've needed it for it has more then performed without even trying. I usually leave it attached to the keyboard just so they stay together but when they are separate it still has a battery that last me as long as I need it to and more. I've also started getting better with the pen and being that I have clumsy hands it is still very good at predicting what I am writing and filling in the things that I use it for from pdf's to regular typing instead of the thumb keyboard when it's in tablet mode. Have to say I love this computer. Like all new tech it has some issues but anything I've found has been common and nothing drastic plus Microsoft has been working with constant updates to fix all the little issues so I can deal with that.

Great Laptop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great product! My first laptop with SSD and it definitely makes a HUGE difference. The pricetag was high but it was worth the buck. Pros: Speedy, nicely crafted, easy to use, portable with or without the base, more than enough power to meet my personal and professional use. Cons: A little on the heavy side, Microsoft can do a better job of extending the battery life on the Tablet (not the keyboard base), pricey

Thin and light
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I first looked at the Microsoft Surface but decided on the Microsoft Book. I carry this around for work and use a keyboard. Most of the time I hold it in one arm while using the other for inputting data. This has a very solid feel to it v.s. the Microsoft Surface with optional keyboard. If I was only going to use it as a tablet then either would have been fine. It's thin, lightweight, and so far I love it. I have yet to run out of battery even using it all day. The keyboard has a build in second battery. Great idea!

Nice laptop but...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Microsoft really upped their game this year. The Surface Book is a solid well built machine. The Surface Book is a great concept however the Surface Pro is much more useful. Remove the screen of the Surface book and you have a non-functioning boat anchor of a keyboard. The screen itself has limited battery so you can't just travel with it alone. What would be nice is if they moved the main battery to the screen and allowed you to attach the Surface Pro touch keyboard so that it could function on it's own when needed.

Great all in one device
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a surface pro 3 before this so i am sold on the concept of one device replacing a laptop and a tablet, but I had my reservations since older reviews talked about software issues. I happy to say that they seem to have been worked out. My first few days I did have software crash when detaching the tablet but after my computer finished installing all windows 10 updates those first few days, all problems went away. The track pad is super smooth and precise. It is by far the best track pad I have ever used. The keyboard is good and the screen is very good. I switched from the SP3 to get a more stable keyboard and bigger screen. Typing on my lap is much better than on my old SP3. Battery life is decent on tablet mode when browsing the internet but more intensive tasks will use the tablet battery much faster. I have found myself docking the screen backwards and setting the surface book on my lap with the screen facing me and the keyboard away from me. This creates a nice set up (holds the tablet up for me at the perfect angle) for browsing on the couch and taking advantage of the longer battery life since the keyboard is attached. It is heavier and bigger than my surface pro 3 but it is worth the upgrade.

Great for semi-heavy users
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I need a powerful machine with minimal lag. As a nursing student, I could be running a 3D anatomy app, while typing a paper on word, while reviewing my notes on onenote, while flipping through a 2200 page pdf, and while watching/ listening to medical tutorial online. This computer doesn't quite meet the demand (mainly because of large pdf and 3d model apps) but I am sure the new SurfaceBook with performance base will meet that need. I returned this model in hopes of the newer model being able to better handle the demand. This computer is too expensive for what it puts out. You can find a cheaper computer with comparable specs. You're paying for the neat feature of both full tablet mode and full laptop mode.

Microsoft Will Have A Winner, But Beware 1st Gen
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Undeniably sexy, the Surface Book is definitely the answer to those that love Windows but desire the sleek look of a MacBook. The keyboard is fantastic, probably the best laptop keyboard I've ever typed on. The screen itself is beautiful, and it should be held as the new standard for laptop screens. My only issues are some driver issues with the video card that can (and should) be sorted out, and the almost deal-breaker: battery life. The only times I got near Microsoft's purported 8 hour battery life were the first two days I had the device, every day after that it was more like 4-5. This was while running in battery saver mode too, so I wasn't taking full advantage of that gorgeous display. The Surface Pen is great for doodling, note taking, etc. and has evolved so much since the original Surface Pro pen. In short, if you're a Windows user looking for the premium laptop experience then the Surface Book is it. However I might wait until the 2nd gen devices are released, to see if Microsoft fixes the video card and battery issues.
