I use the Surface Book everyday for searching online and college courses. I love the ability to use it as a computer or tablet. The hard back solid keyboard makes it more portable and productive than the type covers for my previous Surface. The size is just right, not too big or heavy! The long battery life is a huge plus for me.

Pros:
- Detachable screen for tablet mode (and can also flip it around and use as tablet while still plugged into keyboard so that you can utilize the keyboard battery life too)
- Decent keyboard layout (better than some other brands where other brands have enormous trackpads, small right enter key, etc.)
- Great screen (but a bit top-heavy)
Cons:
- THis has happened twice so far, where the screen goes blank after going to sleep, and, it's impossible to wake it up. Needed to press down the power button for 9 seconds so that is completely powered off. Not cool.
- Trackpad a bit touchy and makes me select things I'm not trying to select, but I haven't tried to adjust any settings yet.
Overall, it's a nice laptop, but not worth the sale price of $1,400. I would consider looking at other options around $700 unless you truly want something that provides this true tablet experience.

This is a great computer that I purchased for my wife to replace an Ipad. The Ipad worked well but had some limitations and my wife needed to have a more substantial system. This computer works great and she really loves it. The size works great for her and it made a very nice gift for her.

Powerful machine. As a student I don't need the most power. I use it to write notes, look at powerpoint, read my ebooks, it works well. It does however have A LOT of glitches. Freezes when the screen is detached very often. As a first gen surface hopefully these are things Microsoft will fix. Specially for the price you pay.

I have really like the versatility of the Surface book especially for work when editing documents. The speakers, picture, and seamless typing are all features I enjoy in particular. I have already experienced a small crack in the casing just due to regular usage. While sleeping it uses much more battery than expected.

I am a huge fan of the design and functionality of this computer. I have had some issues with 3rd party software not installing right but think it's more of a windows problem than a surface problem. I was able to get a tech to help fix it though. Battery life is awesome! I am overall glad I bought it.

Many more features than an Apple. Convenient and portable. Easy to learn to use with the tutorial (or a teenager). Now looking to convert many of our work computers to the Surface. I would recommend this for personal and professional environments because of the versatility and long battery life.

Transitioned from a MAC and I am very happy with the ease of use of my wonderful new surface book! I am in a program which requires a program for analytics and once it was loaded it moved with great speed! Easy to use, fast and takes the downloads fast...what else can I ask for !

Bought this to replace a macbook air and have to say I was impressed. It has a large, beautiful screen, great keyboard and good battery life, The pen was very responsive and sensitive for 2 weeks until it stopped working. Microsoft helpline worked quickly and sent a replacement free of charge.

Microsoft has a heavy weight performance winner (that is slim and lightweight) with this Laptop/Tablet convertible! Performance is very quick with this 6th generation i5 processor and 8GB RAM. The NVIDIA Graphics complete the package. The entire system is well thought out and extremely innovative. This machine has finally let me cut the strings to my desktop PC. Generates very little heat. I'm using the Surface Dock with a 27" ASUS monitor and haven't looked back. Has loaded all my programs without a hiccup. I added a nice external Pioneer Blu-ray reader/writer and an external backup 1 TB WD Black Caviar HDD. Worth the $$ in my opinion.

Excellent laptop that looks amazing both in terms of overall build quality and screen resolution and brightness. Performs very well and really embodies the full windows 10 experience with the touch and pen integration. Device is also light in terms of weight for a full laptop.

Enjoying the portability of the surface book. I use the surface book s to give Photoshop demo's to a photography/photoshop group. The one downfall is that it only has bluetooth connectivity in the screen half of the computer. So when I use it as a tablet, the only keyboard option is on the tablet screen. This does not work for photoshop demos. The workaround was to purchase a small, portable bluetooth keyboard that I can use along with the tablet.
I wish that microsoft would put bluetooth connectivity in each section so that when the two pieces are disconnected the keyboard could still be operational. Maybe in the next series?

great 2-in-1 only thing I was disappointed in was that Microsoft definitely left out a stronger GPU. they could have put in a stronger one but they took a path of secrecy and didn't list what the GPU was... from what I've heard its a GPU that nividia has never made before.... stronger GPU and the surface book would be a 5star product.

Had my heart set on a Surface Pro 4 but was talked into getting the Surface Book to use until Pro 4 was released. It is very robust, has exceptional clarity but looks and feels more like all other silver laptops. It was quite heavy which does add stability to its use on your lap but my Pro 4 keyboard is just as stable on my lap. I wanted something lighter, more portable and easier to handle. Didn't need a work horse.

I love my Surface Book. The screen is big and bright and the computer itself is quiet and fast even when running many applications simultaneously. I love the design and keep getting compliments wherever I go. A couple of my Mac dedicated friends played around with it and are now super envious! So glad I made the investment.

The computer is very light and has a great battery life, although the monitor battery life is limited. The removable monitor touch screen is a very nice feature and the screen clarity is great. Overall the computer is super versatile and great for home use.
