Customers are saying

Customers enjoy the Surface Book 2-in-1's beautiful screen, ease of use, lightweight design, and solid performance. Many appreciate its portability and sleek aesthetics, although some experienced issues with the keyboard and battery life. The high price point was also a recurring concern for some buyers. While most found the device to be a worthwhile investment, potential buyers should be aware of these potential drawbacks.

Best laptop overall - That I have purchased

I normally do not last a year before upgrading my Laptops, and this one is about 2 years old. I have jumped all over the place from Dell, Toshiba, gateway, Mac and this is my first Surface Book and could not be more satisfied. Basically the fact that I have not felt the needed to upgrade, to keep up with performance. And been in the IT field of work, having heard similar comments from others about the Surface Book.

The computer itself at full functionality Is great, but it has some major glitches such as the display driver failing frequently. I think it's because I got it when it was probably the second wave of models so there are some software issues. It also has issues with certain programs because it is the first of it's kind. It's not so bad to the point that I want to get my money back but it is annoying. Overall a decent, not great buy considering the high amount I paid for it.

Great Device. Lets you combine the Tablet and Laptop capabilities in one device. The only set back is the battery life. Unlike the Surface Pro 4, it only has about 3hr battery life when disconnected from the Base. Love everything else about it though. Also enjoying the new Windows 10.

This piece of hardware is absolutely beautiful. I was already a fan of Windows 10 on my desktop computer, and this laptop provides a flawless experience. The detachable screen is convenient, useful, and impressive. The keyboard and trackpack are the best I've ever used on a laptop.

After initial problems restarting, display problems and some other minor issues, which all were solved with the help of Windows updates and excellent support from Microsoft, I have to say that this is the best laptop I ever had. The extremely light weight, detachable screen with excellent graphics is a real pleasure to work with.

this is a beautiful, sleek, well designed and built hybrid laptop with a superb tablet option. very fast. Superb screen quality, color rendering. detached tablet is very convenient. Keyboard is well designed, backlit, and touchpad very responsive. Missing brightness controls. The system needs some updates as it sometimes gets confused when tablet is removed or replaced. The pen is a great asset, however theOne Note software is not as intuitive for practical daily use. It is relatively costly when compared to a Yoga. Great product overall, reliable so far (2 months of heavy use) with some kinks while new updates appear.

I have enjoyed the computer. It runs smoothly when using it as a laptop. I have experienced no problems when using it as a tablet. It has been the fastest running computer I have used to date. The resolution on the screen is great. Things Mac users list as reasons to switch to a Mac have been incorporated into the design (scrolling and multi-view). A big problem I experience is when trying to reattach the screen to the keyboard. It rarely attaches correctly on the first try no matter how carefully I try to do it correctly. The one good thing so I know that it hasn't connected properly is turning on the sound to give the correct connection dings. An aesthetically unappealing thing to me are the location of the headphone jack (when connected as a laptop, it is at the top of the screen). I think the bottom right corner would be more appealing (not sure the interference it might cause with the locks for the screen) both in laptop mode and in tablet mode. It also wish there was a spot for a USB port on the tablet portion in order to fully use the tablet portion (the thickness of the screen could prohibit this allowance).

Ok- bought this laptop and got it home. Started it up expecting the usual welcome to Windows first time set up. Well... Got a weird login for an "other user" with no internet connectivity. Looked online and it turns out that this problem with some surface books is not that uncommon. Turns out if the pc is shut down in the factory before the os imaging is 100% complete, this happens. Brought it straight back to Best Buy where they exchanged it and allowed me to first time boot it in the store. THIS time the exchanged surface book booted up perfectly. I then proceeded to install all of the Microsoft firmware updates, etc. also, if you go to then nvidia website, the newest GeForce drivers will properly install, which is great! I love everything about this machine. Much nicer than the 13 inch Mac book pro. It's pricey but worth it, just wish that Microsoft had better factory qc!

This thing feels dense and sold. I was surprised at the weight for such a small and thin device. It is very powerful. We used it to test some games we were developing and it was fast and powerful.

Great Computer - Worst Out of Box Experience Ever

Great computer, great hardware. I did the windows and Firmware updates after taking it out of the box. The Firmwarm update crashed and would not install, 2 of the windows updates failed to install. Tried to redo several times. Same result. Wiped it and did a factory restore/reset. Had to do that 3 times before all of the updates installed correctly. Worst out of the box experience I've ever had

I've enjoyed the surface pro since launch but the surface books takes it to another level. Everything that bothered me about the pro was fixed in the surface book. The extra battery life, the true laptop experience and the dedicated GPU make the surface book completely worth the price. Would have given it 5 stars but have been having driver issues that microsoft hasn't resolved yet.

Microsoft Surface Book i7 with GPU

I purchased the i7 Surface Book with 8GB Memory, 256GB HD space with dedicated GPU in the keyboard dock. It was way more than I wanted to spend, and probably could afford, but it has been a great replacement for my laptop. My wife loves it so much I may have to buy another one during Black Friday. She loves that it fits in to her Kate Spade laptop case. The onboard GPU is somewhat underpowered for what I was hoping for.. With that being said, I wanted to use this for occasional gaming while traveling. It actually plays the newest release of DOOM, albeit on low graphical settings running at 30-50 FPS. I was also able to plug in a controller and fire up NBA 2K16 on medium settings. Not bad for only a graphics chip. The writing pen is a useful feature. It can take some getting used to when used for taking notes. It works much better for drawing and is very responsive to the amount of pressure applied for just the right brush or pen stroke. It's also important to note that the 256GB HD is a Solid State Drive. This combined with the i7 CPU means there is virtually no wait time when booting, starting or running everyday applications. Overall, I'm pleased with the product. There is more room for improvement in terms of making this a true gaming machine, but It's for the most part a rock-solid PC.

Amazing PC and Tablet in one. It is light, but powerful. A little concerned about how it doesn't close all the way, cause I will use it outside a lot.

This computer is a little heavy, which harms its portability. I think if you do not care about the extra battery and a more comfortable keyboard, Surface Pro 4 will be a better choice. And I can not understand why there is no port on the screen. After I detached the screen, the keyboard does not work, the USB port does not work, the computer become useless.
